I thought this thread was about Ricky Williams ?!?
then you would choose the wrong answer.the shark pool has always been a place for advice about league management and issues in leagues in general.I didn't know drama within a league that has owners complaining and arguing in this thread with each other was part of the subject matter of the "Shark Pool".I would say arguments about personal matters don't belong anywhere, but if you had to choose, it would be the "Free for All".Why would this go in the FFA?It's a discussion about league management as a commissioner and whether you should let someone back into the league. Nobody talks about that in the FFA.Doesn't this drama belong in the FFA.
Quit polluting the pool.
Do you actually go to the FFA?

maybe that has changed, but that would suck if the FFA had to deal with that.

Thanks good buddy. How's that McCardell thread working out for you?Good one Scupper!I thought this thread was about Ricky Williams ?!?![]()
Doesn't matter what kind of league it is I wouldn't want to share a team. It'd be like marriage.Sharing a team sounds like a lot of problems for the owners. Is this a high stakes league like WCOFF? You'd have to be crazy to share a team in any of those type of leagues.
If thats what this thread was about, then of course it would belong in the Shark Pool. Drama and arguing between league members about a specific event belongs elsewhere though.then you would choose the wrong answer.the shark pool has always been a place for advice about league management and issues in leagues in general.I didn't know drama within a league that has owners complaining and arguing in this thread with each other was part of the subject matter of the "Shark Pool".I would say arguments about personal matters don't belong anywhere, but if you had to choose, it would be the "Free for All".Why would this go in the FFA?It's a discussion about league management as a commissioner and whether you should let someone back into the league. Quitters never win.I would NOT let him back in.
btw - how many teams in this league?
I pretty much agree with Spike. The one thing I might do is hold a league vote of current owners to see if they are willing to add him to the waiting list to join. Anyone who wants to share a team with him can if they would like to IMO. In my past friendly leagues we would put him on the waiting list for a vacancy and if someone wanted to split manage a team that was okay too.It sounds like there was a legitimate reason for him to drop out of the league. (I don't view it as "quitting", as he didn't do it in the midst of a season or JUST before it started.) He gave plenty of notice and a replacement owner was found.
As to getting back in, I would think he'd have to wait for an opening in the league. If someone is willing to share a team, there's nothing wrong with that. (In the money league I'm in, I share the team with my best friend and we've NEVER had a problem.)
Seems pretty simple, if you ask me...
I'd leave the team open for now. If you (& the league) choose to contact either of them, I'd make sure they pay the back money and the full year fee in advance with also an advance towards transactions. Otherwise, I'd just find a new owner.I'm a commissioner and currently trying to decide a similar fate.
Had one team last year that has co-owners and been in the league for several years. One of the guys is a tool (part pain in ### and part good for laughs "knucklehead") The other guy is seldom heard from, doesn't speak up or participate in league banter.
Well, in the middle of last year, that team isn't doing very well and the tool quits b/c he didn't like a FA ruling I made (rest of the league understood and agreed with my ruling). Also, I must add that the tool's wife had a baby so I think he was at his wit's end and wanted to take a break......but that not really an "excuse" in my book.
Other guy takes control of the team and it goes on to the worst record of the league.
At the end of the season, the team owes $45 (a lot of the debt was due to the tool who was a big FA spender). I proceed to contact the Other guy about collecting and here is where it gets a little cloudy. I hear that he is about to lose his job........which I can understand. I finally talk to him over the phone and he says that he is good for it. Well, time goes by, he loses his job, and I don't get paid the $$.......I just figure that I'll cut that team lose and give it to the next in line for a team.
Then, in the late spring, I see the tool at a poker tournament and he pays me $30. Nothing is said about getting back into the league.
Now, I'm about to send out the 2005 season email welcoming everyone back and wondering what I should do with that team.
I know most here will take the hard line and say, "Replace that team" (and I'm leaning toward this)...........but anyone think I should even contact the tool OR the other guy?
[sorry for the thread hijack, but I think this thread's already been hijacked]
1-Oh, believe me....... if that team gets back in that they will be paying any o/s debts. (as a side note, I also have every team pre-pay for a couple of FA transactions before the seaon.......it's just that this team went overboard and ran up a bill)2-I've already got people lined up. (it's something that I've always done to cover myself)3-One of the other teams in the league is co-owned and I've always said that the first invite goes to co-owners of teams.I'd leave the team open for now. If you (& the league) choose to contact either of them, I'd make sure they pay the back money and the full year fee in advance with also an advance towards transactions. Otherwise, I'd just find a new owner.
Of course there was a legitimate reason. And this person did not ask that he be let back in in lieu of the replacement, he just inquired about any open positions. As for the "once a quitter always a quitter" bull#### in this thread, give me a break. It sounds like there was a legitimate reason for him to drop out of the league. I like the way you think so maybe you can give some advice on an owner that always quits, then claims it was shtick. Do you believe him, or eventually decide he is telling the truth and move on?I would NOT let him back in.

update? How would you guys handle this?
We have a pretty strong group of owners in our league entering our 3rd season. One owner informed us earlier in the year that we needed to replace him, so we did. Now it is time for the draft stuff to get rolling and he is whining that he wants back in.
What should we do?
You say he had a legitimate health reason, then call him wishy washy. If it's just being fickle, or wishy washy, or wanting out when it goes bad, I'd say no. If it was a legitimate health reason, let him in, and it sounds like you have another owner that wants out, and he could have another team. It wouldn't be fair to the new owner to have to give up his slot, but it sounds like you have a viable solution otherwise. He had a legitimate health related reason for wanting out, and his notice was very much appreciated.
We don't really have an open spot, but a couple of new owners have said they would let the original owner either share or in one case have their team.
I just don't want to have to deal with an owner that is wishy-washy and may quit on us again.

Depends on the reasons. Was he writing a thesis or just had a baby (or other valid excuses)?
If so, and you have an opening, I'd consider letting him back in.
If he just got bored, he's gone for good.
Is his first name Lang by any chance? I hear he has a history of quitting a league and then coming back with his tail between his legs.Depends on the reasons. Was he writing a thesis or just had a baby (or other valid excuses)?

Oh, the irony. This thread has illuminated many things:
1) FridayFrancis is an idot, lol at thinking that threads regarding fantasy football management decisions are not 'worthy' of the 'shark' pool
2) shuke appears to be ultra-sensitive
