Pats Fan: Pats are gonna cream Denver this week.Rational Human Being: It should be a good game. Denver has a good shot to pull out a win though.Pats Fan: No way! The Pats are riding a playoff winning streak!Rational Human Being: Well they never had to go on the road in the Divisional round against a team that was coming off a bye and finished better than them in the regular season.Pats Fan: PFFT. The season doesn't matter, it is how they have played the last few weeks that counts!Rational Human Being: The Pats didn't look that good against a horrible Jax team at home last week. They made lots of mistakes and it was only 7-3 at halftime. Some brutal tackling on Watson's TD and a missed FG helped run up the score but the Pats should have manhandled that team throughout. Pats Fan: They'll elevate their game when they need to.Rational Human Being: What makes you say that? In all of their previous playoff runs they have been pretty consistantly dominating throughout. That wasn't the same team we saw last week.Pats Fan: Brady will find a way. He always does. Or Plummer will screw it up.Rational Human Being: Actually Brady was pretty average on the road this year. He had 12 TDs and 12 INTs with an 83.6 rating, nothing spectacular. And Plummer played pretty well at home, 9 TDs and only 2 INTs with a 96.3 rating.Pats Fan: Well the Pats have a better coach. Rational Human Being: I agree he is better than Shannahan, although I'm not sure the difference is so great that it is going to play a big factor in a NE victory.Pats Fan (starting to froth at the mouth): We are going to win three straight Superbowl victories. No one has ever done that. (edited, thx for the correction godsbrother)Rational Human Being: Uhh.........yes..........I am aware of that, but how exactly does that help you win this week?Pats Fan (convulsing, eyes rolling back in head): I AM WEARING MY LUCKY BRADY JERSEY! GO PATS GO! WE GET NO RESPECT! I LOVE YOU TOM BRADDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (Pats fan goes running off and drops wallet. Rational Human Being picks up wallet and opens it to find picture of Tom Brady with giant heart drawn around him.)

Yeah, because all rational human beings know that most horrible teams finish at 12-4, or 11-5 at the wors  :lmao: The general consensus is this. The Broncos pass D is their weakness, but passing is the Pats strength. The Patriot run D is their strentgh, but also the Broncos strength. Simply put, I think the Tom Brady led Pats will be able to do more against the Broncos D than the Jake led Donkeys will be able to do against he Pats.

I am willing to listen to MANY arguments in favor of the Pats, but if you are relying on their showing over Jax last week to prove how good they are I remain completely unconvinced. For the record I am neither a Den fan nor supporter.

Hi Folks,

#2. Keep the personal attacks way down. I understand it's football and you're passionate. I am too. But I'm seeing the tool factor going way up in some of these posts and we can't have it. Disagree, argue, debate, support, critique whatever. But if you can't keep from calling the other guy a dumb###, you won't be posting here. This is the time of year when I have 10,000 urgent things to do every day. So please don't push this.

Bottom line -

Be Excellent to One Another.

Thanks. I'm sorry to sound harsh there. It sucks playing board cop. But I place an extremely high priority on keeping the Shark Pool a great forum and on topic. And sadly, that means I have to tell some folks things they don't want to hear sometimes.

You guys make this thing what it is. Thanks for that.

This has to be a good idea for a thread. It's foolproof.

Jax wins (going backward from Week 17): TEN, HOU, SF, CLE, ARI, TEN, BAL, HOU, PIT (Maddox at QB), CIN (at JAX, when CIN was cocky and undefeated), SEA (week one - good win)I know, I know. You play the schedule you are given...etc...etc. Anyone who thought Jax was NOT the worst team in the AFC bracket is kidding themselves.

The Pats didn't look that good against a horrible Jax team at home last week.

I'm not. I'm relying on the FACT of 10 consecutive playoff victories. I'm counting on the fact that Den is among the worst pass D's in the league, while the Pats are #1. I'm counting on the FACT that the Pats have BB and Tom Brady. There is much about the Pats I'm counting on. But, since J'ville is horrible at 12-4, what is Denver at 13-3?

Jax wins (going backward from Week 17):

TEN,

HOU,

SF,

CLE,

ARI,

TEN,

BAL,

HOU,

PIT (Maddox at QB),

CIN (at JAX, when CIN was cocky and undefeated),

SEA (week one - good win)

I know, I know. You play the schedule you are given...etc...etc. Anyone who thought Jax was NOT the worst team in the AFC bracket is kidding themselves.
Actually, I thought it was Cinci, followed by Denver. I'd rank them #1 Colts, #2 Pats, #3 Steelers, #4 J'ville, #5 Denver and #6 J'ville.

CIN (at JAX, when CIN was cocky and undefeated),
Ironically, many people claim the Broncos at 8-0 gives them an advantage. Can I infer her that you think the Broncos being 8-0 makes them 'cocky and undefeated', and easy pickings this week?

Pats Fan (starting to froth at the mouth): We are going for three straight Superbowl victories. No one has ever done that.
 The following teams were going for 3 straight Super Bowl victories:

1968 Packers - finished 6-7-1, missed the playoffs

1974 Dolphins - finished 11-3, lost 1st round of playoffs

1976 Steelers - finished 10-4, lost in AFC Championship Game

1980 Steelers - finished 9-7, missed the playoffs

1990 49ers - finished 14-2, lost in NFC Championship Game

1994 Cowboys - finished 12-4, lost in NFC Championship Game

1999 Broncos - finished 6-10, missed the playoffs

2005 Patriots - finished 10-6, ?????

The general consensus is this.
:lmao: Well, there's some great in depth analysis from a "general consensus". Where was that consensus taken? A Boston bar? The Pats have a worse pass D than DEN does. That allows DEN to be 2 dimensional on O and have a much better opportunity to set the tempo than a 1-D Pats O. Let's not overlook that NE's O line is weakened & very young on one side and is playing against a very strong & deep DEN D line.Nah, none of that will be any factor in the game.

1. 10 wins in a row - See my original post2. Den Passing D - Since I am a tool I don't know how to post a quote from another thread. But moleculo posted this info:

After all of this, I haven't made my predictions on the game yet. Everyone has posed some good arguements - some I agree with, some I don't. Of course, I can make up my own mind, so here goes:

The true strength of the Denver D is the passing D - NOT the rushing D. The season numbers are decieving - Denver has by far the fewest rushes against them in the league, which would account for the low rushing yards allowed. They have allowed 4.0 ypc - 16th in the league. The low totals are a function of taking an early lead, and with their pwerful rushing O, sitting on the clock. Opposing teams were forced to pass early alot, and giving up on the rush altogether. NE is 4th in the NFL in allowed ypc, by the way.

The passing D, on the other hand, is much better. Denver has had by far the most passing attempts against them in the NFL. On a yards per attempt basis, they are 6th in the NFL, behind Chicago, Baltimore, Washington, Pittsburgh, and Carolina. NE is 29th in yards per attempt. NE hasn't seen a pass D like this since week 3, and we all know that we can't look at any NE's performances prior to week 8.

3. BB - see original post

4. Brady - see original post

Denver's wins.

SD, OAK, BUF, BAL, DAL, NYJ, OAK, PHI, NE, WAS, JAX, KC, SD. Doesn't look more impressive than Jax?

Nah, none of that will be any factor in the game.
But please keep in mind that they are finally healthy again. Add to that the fact that they have a lot their players back from injury. And you can't ignore that the whole team is feeling better. Plus, they're healthy again.:brokenrecord:

Good to see you've got that whole "generalization" thing down.

If New England wins tomorrow, Patriots fans will say it is because they are finally healthy. If New England loses tomorrow, Patriots fans will say it is because they weren't completely healthy (Harrison being out, Dillon not being 100%, etc.).

Until Denver actually wins a playoff game in the post-Elway era or Brady loses his first playoff game, you have got to give the benefit of the doubt to the Patriots.

This has gotta be one of the whiniest threads every written. Does rational human being = Broncos fan?Jeez dude, why can't you just resign to the fact that it's gonna be decided on the field? No one, not you, not me, knows what's gonna happen. I support my team, you support yours. Got it.Are you really that insecure that you care what anonymous message board posters think?Edited to add: And if you really want to lump all Pats fans into one group, that's just assinine and immature. Would it be fair of me to lump posters like you in with "rational posters" like Moleculo and Surf?

BTW, in case anyone cares, here are the current odds at Tradesports for the remaining teams to win the AFC:Colts: 60.5%Broncos: 17.5%Pats: 14%Steelers: 8%

LOL. Nice try. But the search function is not coming up with a user called Pats Fan.
Nice try PatsfanCt
Sorry, but while the posts may straddle the line in some instances (cursing?), this is CLEARLY not a personal attack on any specific user.Nor is it "over the line" in any other regard.

Having someone make fun of your team may get this moved to the FFA, but as loing as there are no personal attacks, or other offenses," this is football related - in the "playful teasing" vein before a big football game.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Brady and Belecheck have some great history going for them, but they have had a rough year. Although they had many early injuries this season, they have not dominated as in the past. Their running game is non-existant, and Brady has to carry them. Their offensive line is average at best with rookies starting. They are on the road against an excellent, well-rested, home team. Denver has a balanced offensive attack, and will put alot of pressure on Brady. Everyone keeps talking about how when these teams last met, all the Patriots were hurt, etc, etc. (boo-hoo), but Champ Bailey was also playing injured during that part of the season. Saying all that, I believe this will be the best game this weekend. NE is just not as good as they were the last few years, so Denver will win this game by the score of 27-23 :boxing:

I retract - there isn't even any cursing or an attempt to circumvent the language filter.

[Pats Fan] WE DON'T GET ANY RESPECT, TOM BRADY IS SO UNDERRATED, WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO REALIZE [/Pats Fan] In his most whiniest voice

This just never gets old, does it? :yucky:And come to mention it, how does this thread even rate as Shark Pool material? This is grade B fishing barely fit for the FFA.On the other hand, it is Friday.

Original poster is on the record that he is not a Pats or Bronco fan - just a li'l FYI.

I really can't understand the negativity surrounding patriots fans and personels the last few weeks. What's there to hate about the Patriots? We're not the yankees, we don't have all the league's top talents. All we have is a blue collar coach and football players who knows how to win games and make plays. Stupid posts like this are uncalled for, we're supposed to be intelligent people here (at least football wise).

Since when is discussion of fans actual football talk? As far as I know, not a single one of us will be taking the field tomorrow. We're not well-served by threads like this at all. It's immaterial that the original poster isn't a fan of either team. I take that back, that's likely worse, because then all it is is a cheap fishing trip. I thought those were discouraged in the Shark Pool in favor of actual content.

Jealousy, plain and simple. Your team is winning while we have to watch our teams play second fiddle (or worse). We want it to end. It isn't that hard.....I am a Raider fan, so if I think the Broncs will win that says something....

:bag:

Maybe it says I know nothing about football, after all I cheer for the Raiders. Who knows.

Seriously thinking about switching allegiances to the Bills, that's how bad it is in Raiderland these days (and I just moved within 200 miles of Buffalo)

Pats fans sure are edgy right now. I meant the post as a little light humor on a Friday and it turned into this....wow.

well that's even worse. What are patriot fans supposed to do then? Sit around and doubt our own team after we've won 3 of the last 4 superbowls? We really don't have anything better to do or think. And about the game this weekend, there's not many reasons to doubt ourselves either. The Patriots are hitting stride at the right time and we have most of our key players (almost) healthy. It's going to be a good game, but hey, that's what I thought this past weekend and look how that game turned out against the Jags...

This has been going on in the Shark Pool before big football games for YEARS - just wait until we have two weeks to wait before the Super Bowl.Pre-game jabs at fans - as long as they are not personal and are above board on all other levels - are Shark Pool material.

Go post your own on the Broncos' fans if you don't like this one, but this one is Shark Pool material as long as it stays clean.

It's ironic you say "it is the attitude of some of their fans here that turns people off" in a post that was intended to rile up the Pats Fans. Although it's obvious that the original poster made up this conversation with an imaginary Pats Fan to get these results, Marc's right. No harm no foul. Just don't read or post in the many topics started here that are only intended to make the Pats Fans on this board defensive so they can be called whiney tools.

that's true. What else can you do if somebody else starts saying negative things about your team? A: "Patriots ain't gon win this weekend, Broncos are at home"

Pats Fan: "........"

A: "You guys suck!"

Pats Fan: "............. :hot: "

A: "You guys are going to get ur azzes kicked!!!"

We can not say anything like this guy, or we can actually present some facts and defend ourselves. And I think we have irrational 'fans of other teams' too

go ahead - and present facts - and defend yourselves.Just don't cry that these posts don't BELONG in the Pool. They have been here for years and the will be here before playoff games for years to come.

i've explained this to the end that it needs to be explained. This is normally a thread that wil get shut down in week 13 - but not deleted. In the postseason, we tend to leave it open as long as it stays above board.

The discussion on why this thread stayts in the Pool is over - PM me if you want anything more and I will respond after I get back from a teleconference I need to attend.
