A Typical Discussion with a Pats Fan (1 Viewer)

go ahead - and present facts - and defend yourselves.

Just don't cry that these posts don't BELONG in the Pool. They have been here for years and the will be here before playoff games for years to come.
Who is crying? We're saying these posts aren't football-related because they AREN'T football-related.I'm not sure why you're unable (or unwilling) to see this.
do I REALLY need to link to every arguably not football related thread in the Pool?Fans of football teams are, per se, football related topics. If a Pats fan shot a Jets fan at a football game, that would be Shark Pool material.

Discussion over. PM me if you need mnore.

Jax wins (going backward from Week 17):

TEN,

HOU,

SF,

CLE,

ARI,

TEN,

BAL,

HOU,

PIT (Maddox at QB),

CIN (at JAX, when CIN was cocky and undefeated),

SEA (week one - good win)

I know, I know. You play the schedule you are given...etc...etc. Anyone who thought Jax was NOT the worst team in the AFC bracket is kidding themselves.
How'd JAX fare against, arguably, the best team in the NFL.....the Colts?

I really can't understand the negativity surrounding patriots fans and personels the last few weeks. What's there to hate about the Patriots? We're not the yankees, we don't have all the league's top talents. All we have is a blue collar coach and football players who knows how to win games and make plays. Stupid posts like this are uncalled for, we're supposed to be intelligent people here (at least football wise).
Jealousy, plain and simple. Your team is winning while we have to watch our teams play second fiddle (or worse). We want it to end. It isn't that hard.....I am a Raider fan, so if I think the Broncs will win that says something....

:bag:

Maybe it says I know nothing about football, after all I cheer for the Raiders. Who knows.

Seriously thinking about switching allegiances to the Bills, that's how bad it is in Raiderland these days (and I just moved within 200 miles of Buffalo)

Pats fans sure are edgy right now. I meant the post as a little light humor on a Friday and it turned into this....wow.
This is absolutely true. Jealousy is definitely the reason behind this, and why I hope the Pats lose this weekend (though I expect they will win since that just seems to be what they do). Here is the double standard for you. Unless it is my team, I have no desire to see a team go on this sort of run. The Bears are my team, but to say the least I am cheering for the Broncos this week.

The Pats didn't look that good against a horrible Jax team at home last week.
Yeah, because all rational human beings know that most horrible teams finish at 12-4, or 11-5 at the wors  :lmao: The general consensus is this. The Broncos pass D is their weakness, but passing is the Pats strength. The Patriot run D is their strentgh, but also the Broncos strength. Simply put, I think the Tom Brady led Pats will be able to do more against the Broncos D than the Jake led Donkeys will be able to do against he Pats.
Except that the Broncos pass D and run D are both better than the Patriots', the pass Os are comparable, and the Bronco run O is much better.

Personally I like the 3 Super Bowl victories in a row angle...How about Green Bay, 1929-1931 and 1965-67? So it was called something different, but it is still 3 championships in a row...What if they changed the name from the Super Bowl to the NFL Bracket Finals (where the winner plays the CFL Bracket Final winner)?

Actually, if you carefully read the Original Post, he states some pretty good analysis of the matchup between the Pats and the Broncos, and give his spin on why he believes the game should be a good one. He talks about the flow of last week's Pats-Jags Wild Card game, Brady's stats on the road, Plummers stats at home... some interesting football related information there. And, on top of that, he manages to present the information in a well thought out, satirical, humorous way which has obviously gotten the intended response out of a number of Patriots fans.

Overall, I'd rate the OP pretty high, and say that had the Patriots supporters brought as much thought and information to the post as the OP we might be having a really good debate about this weekends game. Instead, we've got a page and a half of a FBG admin debating the legitimacy of this thread!

Spike, let it go man. You're just giving the original poster exactly what he wanted.

And, you don't want it in the FFA. Those guys will kill you.
I've been around almost 4 years and you have never heard of me before, but I picked now to start fishing......right.........Like I said, I think the Pats fans are a little edgy right now, I would be too if it was the team I cheered for. I have yet to see MANY well thought out reasons why the Pats will win this week (there have been a couple in other threads so I won't say NONE).

I don't consider these reasons why the Pats will win:

1. The streak

2. Because we have Brady

3. Because of our coach

4. Because we are the Pats

An Indy/NE matchup will be more fun to watch so I really don't mind if the Pats win, but please convince me how they are going to on the road in Denver?

well that's even worse. What are patriot fans supposed to do then? Sit around and doubt our own team after we've won 3 of the last 4 superbowls? We really don't have anything better to do or think. And about the game this weekend, there's not many reasons to doubt ourselves either. The Patriots are hitting stride at the right time and we have most of our key players (almost) healthy. It's going to be a good game, but hey, that's what I thought this past weekend and look how that game turned out against the Jags...
:goodposting: If the Broncos had won 3 out of 4 SB's, I would be shouting from the top of the mountain how great we are. I would be beating my chest every chance I had. I can't fault Pats fans for doing the same. For the record, some of my best friends are Pats fans. They are rational, and can have intelligent conversations (when sober). They are NOT whiny tools.

As a Broncos fan, I do enjoy watching the Pats - heck, I'm for any AFC team, especially an AFC team that wins on substance. It's just to bad they have to go down this weekend, I was hoping the Pats could take out the Colts first.

"Typical" as in, the typical response that Broncos fans have when confronted about their players and organizations rampant cheating/dirty play over the years?Any time you bring up things such as:* Dirty cut blocks by their O-Line* The O-Line smearing vaseline on their uniforms to "grease up" the defensive players (which retired Broncos players now admit pretty openly)* The multiple examples of the Broncos organizations using deferred payments to players to circumvent the salary cap, costing them fines and draft picksYou always get one of three predictable responses:(1) Um....... Every team does this! Yeah, that's it!(2) Uh........ They'd win even if they didn't cheat!(3) Er........ Al Davis sucks!

See this guy gets what I am saying! You forgot:4. Does the rulebook specifically say you can't use Vaseline?

5. Mike learned these tricks from coaching the Raiders, blame them.

6. At least we got rid of Bill Romanowski.

al davis does suck. Nothing wrong with that.

The rulebook prohibits "foreign substances". Which is why your lineman once got fined for it during your Super Bowl run.Hell, those two Bronco rings are so tainted they make the "Tuck Rule" championship look rock-solid legit by comparison.

I hope you aren't including me in "YOUR" I already admitted to my chagrine that I was a Raider fan (obligatory :bag: )

I always thought that obviously inflammatory threads got shut down, or at least the poster got warned to watch his tone.

There is NOTHING inflammatory about the initiial post. It was a funny at the expense (barely at the expense) of Patriot fans.END of discussion.Period.(p.s. - I just re-read the initiial post to make sure - and, yup, there's nothing inflammatory in there - in fact, there is a LOT of football talk about why the Broncos will win the game.)

I guess that's why they make vanilla and chocolate, but I didn't find it funny at all. I get that it was an attempt at humor, I just found it lame. We're just not breaking any ground here. There are several other threads with actual discussion in them. This one's just hogging up the bandwidth. The FFA pulls off the satire bit much better. ;)As a rational Pats fan, I can't stand these threads because it's a no win situation. You either ignore it -- and it doesn't go away OR you respond in kind which makes you look juvenile OR you respond and people accuse you of whining.I think making a comeback typical Broncos fan thread would be silly. Besides, they don't have much to say that makes any sense anyhow. :P

1. Yes, we have a winning streak, but I don't know where you heard this one from, I haven't heard this argument from anybody yet and I live in NE.2. It's simple as that, we have Brady, which means we have a QB that's clutch in big games, a good decision maker, and one that led the league in passing yards with no 1000 yard receivers.

3. What else can you say? Not a lot of people are knowledgeble enough to name all the right coaching Belicek has done in the past 4 years, but everyone knows BB works just as hard if not harder than any other coach in the NFL and that preparation shows in the games.

4. Yes we are the Pats, and we have a reputation for winning in the last handful of years, this statement basically sums up the last 3.

Here is something else funny....my stat projections for the game!I'll post them now so someone can bump them later and have a good laugh!Totally meaningless projections:Denver Passing: 229 yardsDenver Rushing 147 yardsNE Passing: 267 yardsNE Rushing: 67 yardsYes I am projecting that the Broncs will be able to rush against the Pats, one of the reasons I think the Broncs will win. Edited out my last line: oops, looking at the wrong line of my spreadsheet...nevermind Pats fans, blackdot this for later!

I don't see the initial post as being that big of a deal. Some will find it funny, others will be too sensitive, and others don't care one way or the other. I found it somewhat amusing. Certainly no worse than the dumb Manning threads created by Pat fans.

I dont find this thread inflammatory. Somewhat amusing. You cant ask Pats fans for reasons why they will win without allowing us to give you Tom Brady. He is our best shot. If Brady turns the ball over, the Pats lose. If he doesnt, the Pats win. That has been their MO and Brady does not turn the ball over in the playoffs. It would help my above scenario a great deal if the Pats can get a lead. They are GREAT with a lead. If they fall behind by more than a TD, Denver's chances of turning Brady over are a lot better.Corey Dillon has not looked good. He is basically a goalline back now but a good one. Faulk has looked really good the last 4 weeks. I'm not sure this is a great game for him though because of the speed of the Denver LB's. I think he might actually stay in and pass block quite a bit this week.Vince Wilfork has been playing great and is big this week. Another thing in the favor of the Pats D is the discipline of their OLB's. Colvin and McGinist should do a nice job of preventing Plummer's bootlegs which can be killer when he breaks contain.I expect a good game and a 24-20 Pats win. Denver scored 28 last time. Can the Pats cause them to settle for FG's. If so, the Pats win. If not, they lose 28-24.

Don't go bringing logical, well thought out posts into this thread... :lmao: Actually, honesty at its best. I don't think Brady loses this game, I think the Broncos as a TEAM win this game.

Yeah, really, pat patriot. this post belongs in one of the "rational" type threads, instead of being buried here...
