Ace Sanders - WR2 or WR3 rest of the way? (1 Viewer)

Just looking at his stats the last 3 games, it seems he is playing a bigger role in the Jax offense.

Week - Catches - yards - targets

11 8 61 10

12 4 61 5

13 8 67 11
With the reports that Gus Bradley says they want him more involved, could this be the sneaky play that helps fill that hole in your lineup for the playoffs?

Not exactly how you draw it up but 9 points tonight.

3-26 in 6 targets. Plus there were at least 2 plays that would have been 40+ yac had Henne hit him in stride. The td pass salvaged the night.

Can't argue with the last 4 weeks of stats. He's been incredibly consistent. Not WR2 or even WR3 numbers, but I'd plug and play him as a WR4.

week 11 vs Arizona, 8 catches for 61 yards on 10 targets, 14.1 pts in PPR

week 12 at Houston, 4 catches for 61 yards on 5 targets, 10.1 pts in PPR

week 13 at Cleveland, 8 catches for 67 yards on 11 targets, and 4 yards rushing, 15.1 pts in PPR

last night vs Houston, 3 catches for 26 yards and a TD, 11.4 pts in PPR

The TD last night saved him, but he's got a 50/50 shot at ten plus targets any week. I'd pick him up and have him ready if he was still available on my wire, just in case you need a guy with a solid floor.

Rotoworld take:

Ace Sanders caught three passes for 26 yards in Jacksonville's Week 14 win over the Texans, adding a 21-yard passing touchdown on a trick play.

Sanders also lined up in the backfield on a few snaps, rushing once for no gain. Sanders' touchdown probably should have been picked by Texans S D.J. Swearinger, but Jordan Todman managed to come down with a contested pass that Sanders threw across the entire field. Sanders has started flashing his play-making ability with greater regularity in recent weeks, but the Jags still don't seem entirely certain how to get him the ball. He drew only six targets this evening. He'll be a WR4/5 for PPR purposes in Week 15.

With Jones-Drew almost certianly out and Cecil Shorts now a game-time decision, you could probably do a lot worse than Ace Sanders in a PPR. Jacksonville's gotten him more involved the past few weeks, and now they're without their two biggest playmakers in a winnable game. Buffalo doesn't have an intimidating D in the first place, and given they were already utilizing Sanders out of the backfield on some packages, I think he could see quite a boost in snaps/targets.

Crazy? Or Crazy like a fox?

No, not crazy. He was already getting a good number of targets, and now with Shorts out makes a decent starter. Somebody has to catch the ball in Jax.

I'm thinking Sanders, not Todman is the one to plug into your lineups.

Already been increasing his role in the offense, take out the options in front of him.. a nice opportunity.

I agree - Todman would scare me personally. Sanders has taken handoffs/pitches already from the backfield. With no MJD and no Shorts, he's likely their biggest mismatch on the field. Should have a nice opportunity indeed.

Denver aside hasn't TEN been pretty good against WRs this year?
This may be true... honestly not sure, and I'm cooked in all my leagues, so doesn't really matter for me personally.

However, Sanders is best utilized in a variety of alignments - swing passes from the backfield, bubble screens, slot work, motion routes, reverses, etc. I'm not sure their ranking against opposing WRs (in the traditional sense) is going to apply if Jacksonville gameplans to effectively use Ace, which, without Shorts or MJD (potentially) they should be doing.
