Last I checked Washington couldn't fit his contract under their cap.If that's still true, either they'd have to cut some people or wait til the start of the new contract year.Adam Scheffer has reported that Dre Bly will be traded in the next 48 hours and the three suitors in serious talks are Denver, New Orleans and Washington.
They have been making quite a few moves the last couple of days, and are said to be 11-12 million under the cap.Last I checked Washington couldn't fit his contract under their cap.If that's still true, either they'd have to cut some people or wait til the start of the new contract year.Adam Scheffer has reported that Dre Bly will be traded in the next 48 hours and the three suitors in serious talks are Denver, New Orleans and Washington.
oh yeah? Hmmmust've missed some. Any big names get cut? They have been making quite a few moves the last couple of days, and are said to be 11-12 million under the cap.Last I checked Washington couldn't fit his contract under their cap.If that's still true, either they'd have to cut some people or wait til the start of the new contract year.Adam Scheffer has reported that Dre Bly will be traded in the next 48 hours and the three suitors in serious talks are Denver, New Orleans and Washington.
I think the 11-12 million under the cap has more to do with restructures than guys cut. No big names cut that I know of.oh yeah? Hmmmust've missed some. That is crazy! You trade Champ for Portis, then trade Portis for Bly? That would secure Millen's job until he died or retired, but it won't happen.I know nothing about caps and money situations, but with all the talk of Portis being shopped, does it make any sense at all that Bly for Portis could happen?
They say he's coming back and all is mended. Don't know if that is a smoke screen or not though, but that is what the FO is saying. I found it interesting because of his salary and their little use of him. Maybe things have changed, maybe not...but at least they are saying that he will be back.Have the Skins cut Archuletta yet? Last I heard he wasn't on good terms, and was getting paid way too much.
Maybe they are going to trade him. He played in the Tampa-2 in Stl, so he would fit right in with Marinelli. Not sure how big of a need safety is for Detroit? Plus, his contract is too big for a mediocre safety. They say he's coming back and all is mended. Don't know if that is a smoke screen or not though, but that is what the FO is saying. I think if a trade partner were to come about...it might be Chicago. Lovie had AA in STL and supposedly loves him. The 'Skins came in an swooped him up before CHI had the chance last year. At this point he is the biggest ? in regards to what is going on with him.Maybe they are going to trade him. He played in the Tampa-2 in Stl, so he would fit right in with Marinelli. They spent a fair amount on Anthony Henry a couple years back. Adding Bly would mean the Cowboys would probably have the most expensive secondary in the league. Also note that Dallas has a very solid nickel CB (Aaron Glenn) and a rookie FS (Pat Watkins) who showed some flashes of being a player later in the year. There have been 2 recent rumblings from Valley Ranch:1) There has been talk that Henry may move to FS which means the team needs a CB through a(Trade/Signinging/Draft).2) Ken Hamlin may be signed as a FS, he's a veteran that will allow Roy Williams (The worst cover safety in the league) to play up more in the box. I would be very surprised to see Bly come to Dallas. If they move Henry to FS, I believe they draft a CB on day 1 of the draft. Just my 0.02.Why isn't Dallas in the running? Am I the only one who thinks he'd be the perfect fit across from a solid Terrence Newman? Newman can blanket one guy and Bly can be the risk taker, I don't get it???
Please Please, be New Orleans
I heard that report also on SportsTalk 980 in the DC area.Speaking of the Redskins...
Fox Sports Radio 1460 just reported that rumours abound that the Redskins will sign three "news conference worthy" free agents. The announcers also wondered aloud about how the Skins will find the money to do so.
This site tracks the Redskins cap situation. At present it's only updated to Troy Vincent being released.Linkoh yeah? Hmmmust've missed some. Any big names get cut? They have been making quite a few moves the last couple of days, and are said to be 11-12 million under the cap.
[slight hijack]I don't know about that, Chris McAllister, Samari Rolle and Ed Reed are all pretty well paid. They spent a fair amount on Anthony Henry a couple years back. Adding Bly would mean the Cowboys would probably have the most expensive secondary in the league.

I dont think that droping down a few spots is realistic in terms of getting either one of the DL players you mentioned. First they would need a trade partner between 3-6. Remove Washington because they dont need to trade up to get their player and they have little trade up ammo. The best trade partner would be Tampa but Millen has a tough row to hoe convincing them that they will need to trade up for CJ.The proposed deal that would send cornerback Dre Bly to the Denver Broncos continues to get stronger. In return, the Lions would receive either running back Tatum Bell and a third-round pick or tackle George Foster and a third-round pick or Bell and Foster together with no draft choice. If the Lions get both Bell and Foster, it will have a profound impact on their draft and would likely mean that they'll definitely trade down. With Bell and Foster on the roster, the need for Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas or Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson is gone. The Lions would have more motivation to trade down a few spots and go after a defensive end like Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson. Or trade a few more spots and grab Mississippi middle linebacker Patrick Willis.
...or the QB they want, if OAK takes Calvin.Don't forget about the Vikings, they might be interested in movign up to number two to grab CJ in front of Tampa.
This has been going on for 8 years now. Every year is suppose to be "cap hell" for them. And every year they go out and sign whoever they want to these ridiculous contracts. As a 'Skins fan I can tell you it's getting very tiresome.at what point can Washington just not afford anymore players? Is it me or do they go after every single free agent every offseason and overpay each time?

A solid OT for the Lions would be awesome. Is Foster decent?Latest from PFT.
