Adam Vinatieri - ankle injury (1 Viewer)

:wall:

sounds like he misses a week or two of the season... not a big deal. shouldn't you all have 2 kickers anyways?
"hell no!"seriously...do you roster 2 K's?

because I don't....so even the hint of a problem w/a guy like AV is of great value to me

why we're throwing Jeff under :11: is beyond me!

I own Vin on a dynasty team or 2, and will wait until just prior to game time to make a move to replace him

I choose to listen to the info and not draft AV to any on my redraft/keeper teams thur far

According to an anonymous source who just contacted me, Adam Vinatieri was just fitted for a fracture of his heel.

The source tells me it should be 4-6 weeks, so most likely will take him out for the first 2 weeks or so.

The supposition here is that Dungy will speak about this tomorrow or whenever a reporter prods him on Vinatieri's status.
hey bri...from post 1, which was not edited"just fitted for a fracture of his heel...should be 4-6 weeks, so most likely will take him out for the first 2 weeks or so"

I certainly didn't read this as a "dump Vin" warning by Jaff, only that owning Vin and expecting him as a week 1 start would be "iffy, at best"....my quote, not his

Clinto Portis has a sprained shoulder..."iffy, at best" for week 1

I haven't traded him in any of my leagues, either

KFFL) Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports the release of PK Shane Andrus by the Indianapolis Colts might indicate PK Adam Vinatieri (foot) will be ready for the Sept. 10 season opener. He missed the final three preseason games with a sprained ligament and chipped bone in his left foot. It's also possible the team will sign Andrus to its practice squad. He could be signed to the active roster later if Vinatieri is not ready.

Colts | Team puts Vinatieri through a workout; he appears ready

Sun, 3 Sep 2006 13:55:09 -0700

Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports the Indianapolis Colts put PK Adam Vinatieri (foot) through a workout last Friday, Sept. 1, to gauge his comeback from a sprained ligament and chipped bone in his left foot. Released PK Shane Andrus said the team "told me they felt Adam was 100 percent and would be ready for the New York Giants, so they decided to let me go. They said if something happened (to Vinatieri), I'd be the first guy they called."

As for the Portis part of the reply-I never said Jeff said to drop him. Jeff said(what you wrote above) out 4-6 weeks. I have no desire to have 2 kickers. Recently Jeff Wilkins fell to the last round and I already had my kicker. I couldn't pass him up as trade bait with the numbers he puts up. I looked at a bunch of non-survivor leagues I played in and couldn't find another time I've had 2 kickers. Sooo because I have a folder above my desk at home with league roster and w-l record from each year of FF, I looked and back a long time ago(10 years? at hotel now, can't look) I had 2 kickers for a CDM contest. So, I have no desire to have two kickers and "never" have 2. It's a wasted roster spot IMO. Yes I see Furley likes it but, 'nother debate 'nother time, to each his own. For me, RBs and Ks are managed differently in FF especially a first round FF draft pick as opposed to a later round player.

I already stated this previously so excuse me for being brief in this part.

was it a fractured heel?

is he out 4-6 weeks?

gonna clarify some other stuff-

I like Jeff very much and well I'm never shy about saying I like most if not all of the staffer's here. IMO Jeff was wrong and should be "zinged" for it as everyone else would be. I REQUESTED that Jeff PLEASE in the future be more vague until he gets more details. If Jeff had said "foot injury may miss time" and you look at the rest of his posts, they all "jive" and "he's the man". But initially he said heel and 4-6 and that hasn't happenned and apparently Adam's 100% now, 2 weeks later(maybe off a day or two) This is not to say I haven't appreciated(and stated so) him being the "early bird with the word" it was just "off" a bit.

IMO Staff members are extremely knowledgable and it makes me pretty grrr to see that when the site gets cooking in the summer, they don't post so much as they're working. See, I prefer their comments here vs. in a structured format of an article. I understand the process and reasoning I'd just like to see em' here more "in the Pool".

I rememberred Aaron touting Losman and countless other Bills fans too. They got zinged when he stunk. Part of life here. Also is praising them for their correct calls. Aaron rocks in survivor leagues and I've told him that. I wasted a good while trying to figure out what he's up to by his drafts. IIRC He praised McGahee before his 2nd year and I incorrectly said he was never gonna be any good because of his knee and I got zinged for it. And I should have IMO

The purge here makes it hard to find older articles as many don't exist. I remember whining about the Chargers cutting Ruvell Martin, NFLE MVP looked good in preseason and that whomever they chose above him would never play. That guy didn't play or barely played. Now Ruvell has looked sweet for the Pack. After Ferguson's annual injury, he's gonna play and he has great "ups" and is tall. He's a redzone threat everytime. Maurile disagreed with me about Ruvell. Well, if he does well this year or...no if he makes a contribution worth noting well then the Chargers should have kept the guy that James Lofton(their WR coach) spent so much time tutorring/working with. Maurile is borderline genius and a math whiz like few I've ever "seen". I can't "zing" him and say "How would he look in a Charger uniform now Maurile?" We've been here for years, you know, Maurile wouldn't be offended. He'd probably instead give me some smart cap economics reply which makes my head spin and bring a good "counter" to the comment.

Yesterday or the day before, Shick posted about Hackett some semi Hackett love. I know he said similar statements last year because I thought "Hackett? who?" and figured he knows the Seahawks well and grabbed him. The thread was 8 miles long and I had no time to read all that and extremely limitted web access due to no electricity for a long time from a fire next door to my home. Hackett didn't do squat for me. I've known Shick since RSFF and well geesh a long long time. If I wrote him a PM that said "nice call on Hackett" He'd chuckle then tell me he predicted this guy and that guy right and I'd concede that he had more good calls than bad.

When I find an error on Drinen's site, I tell him. You know what he replies? Thank you. The guy has 8 zillion stats and one in 8 zillion is wrong, is he offended? no, he just says thank you.

I wrote Jeff recently about Baskett a PM. Pretty sure it was Baskett=trash basket after they traded for stallworth. He chuckled and wrote something like he's still a steal or great value and...well he is I guess, so it seems. (rook we don't know, of course) I didn't post that here because of the high sensitivity here lately.

I don't know where or when it started but I wish it wasn't that way or there was a pinned warning or somesuch. You know as well as I, this has been commonplace for years here so, I'm the one I guess that "stepped in it" first. Now I know. I'm not the most stoic person but I'll try and hold back pointing out staff errors from now on. What else can I do?

Well that's my opinion. As you read, one not valued by Joe, but figured with your reply and having "known" you here for years you'd care to hear it, so I posted it.

When I wanna know Eagles news or thoughts I'll still PM/email Jeff(or Woodrow) and I'll still take his opinion as "gold" because he's earned that trust from me. This ankle injury BS has not changed my high opinion of him.

I believe a couple pages before or maybe it was another thread someone said "bet Jeff feels good" and back then I wrote that I hoped he did. If people want to read this entire thread and see everything they can. If they want to form an opinion on just one post here or there, well IMO that's their mistake. If someone wants to start a praise Jeff thread, I'll chime in there too. I'm not shy, you know that

Hope this makes sense

What's the latest word on Vinatieri? I'm one of those guys who only carries 1 kicker and would love some reassurance. :D

from Rotoworld
"I'm getting some work in this week, and I'll be ready to go for the weekend," Vinatieri told the AP Monday. He's wearing a brace on his non-kicking foot, but should be fine to use in fantasy leagues against the Giants.
Raleigh in the house!!!

If Vinatieri is your lone option, then you are rolling the dice.

I avoided him in all my drafts - every one - this month once I got this info.

Now, Adam is a tough guy and wants to maintain the "I never missed a game" thing. I respect that.

But keep in mind, many others have said (I can't say whom, but they were all over NFL Network Friday IIRC) that an injury to a plant foot is worse than a kicking foot.

He's on record as wearing a brace.

Ask yourself a question - what are the chances that he re-aggrivates the injury? Sure he's a gamer and will be ready - but can he be as accurate or as strong as you typically expect from him?

For me, I don't want my K to have question marks next to his name. I'm rather surprised they didn't keep a second kicker.

I wish Vinatieri the best, but there is a warning in fine print on him.

Serious question:

Do guys still take pain-killers if there is no risk of permanent damage?

Is it legal to get shots before & during the game to treat pain?

the best kicker in the game on the best offense in the game is worth the risk to me. i doubt he's going to be missing extra points.
