Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (3 Viewers)

Post hype sleeper candidate Michael Taylor is flying to Tampa to join the A's there. Crisp to the DL.

Had him on my minor league team, dealt him last year, owner got fed up with him and didn't keep him, I re-added him about a week ago as my DL has gone from 1 deep to 7 deep in the last 10 days. So I kinda need him. Anyone have the book on him in the minors? Is he a platoon guy? I stopped paying attention to him after I traded him last year

He's been hitting the ball hard this year. Granted, it's the PCL but the A's need some offense. Hopefully, he'll get a better shot this time than last September.I've been mildly burned on him in the past but I keep reaching for him because he looks like a ballplayer, which is just about the worst reason I can think of.

I dropped Utley, but the correct answer was Marmol. SOB.

And now McCutchen leaves early with a knee injury. SOB!!

Thoughts on Wade Miley? I want to pick up Craig in a deep points keeper league but don't really have many droppable players. I do have two backup SS -- Alex Gonzalez and Yunel...my usual starter is Hardy.Lee possibly coming off the DL next week doesn't help either...
OK, so I take it Miley is not a hot commodity...
au contraire - the guy has been GREAT so far........there is a potential problem though when Daniel Hudson comes back late in the month...Who gets booted out of the rotation? Not as easy as LIFO as they may not want to send Corbin back down (he almost made the rotation out of spring training)............BUT absent injuries it will likely come down to Miley or Corbin.......but for Now you should jump all over him - make another decision later

Miley's 2012 BABIP is .153. That's just not sustainable. I'd probably stream him at SD or SF but I wouldn't trust him as a regular SP.

Choo's been out of the lineup for the last 6 games. Kipnis has 3 games batting 2nd, 2 games batting 7th and 1 game batting 8th. 1 Choo + 1 Damon = 1 bottom of the lineup Kipnis. You're fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
Choo was hitting pretty terribly before getting hurt and Hafner hasn't had one of his many annual trips to the DL yet.If you think Kipnis will regress then get rid of him, otherwise he's a definite hold, he'll find a spot near the top of the lineup as long as he's hitting.
Hopefully I'm wrong here, but Damon (leadoff) and Choo (6th) in the lineup tonight and Kipnis is still batting 2nd.
Soon glad to admit I'm wrong on this one.Kipnis pretty much forcing Acta to keep him there:wub:

What's the consensus of Lorenzo Cain? He is killing the ball in ST and I read is hitting in the #2 hole for the Royals. In the past that wouldn't be of much notice but with Hosmer/Butler hitting behind, he might be able to rack up some runs. I doubt the ST power is real but can this guy put up a Melky Cabrera-line from last year? .290 20 hrs 30 sbs 80+ Rs or is he just doing a Kila K impression?
I'm monitoring, but not picking up.
Drafted him in a keeperI'm holding
:confused:He's been drafted in every re-draft league I've seen.:tumbleweed:I've been on his bandwagon since last year.
:shrug:he is available in my 12 team league...although I'm contemplating picking him up and dropping frenchie.
I wouldn't contemplate it much longer.
was drafted in my league friday night
Cain is out for another 4-8 weeks due to a torn hip flexor. He probably won't be running as much when he gets back.

I was 100% with Ditka on this one...so happy that I'm wrong though (for now)!

On fire...and to think I almost drafted Jemile Weeks over him

Thoughts on Gallardo? He's got velo, still getting k's, and aside from the Cardinals who completely own him historically, he's been pretty good. He just got waived in my 13 person, 5OF, CI, MI, 1600 IP limit league. SP is by far my weakness so far - especially k/9, and I've got $95 left of a $100 budget. There's not anybody else on waivers worth much of anything with 30 player teams, and I don't expect a player with his resume to be dropped all season. How much do you bid for him?
i have never done an auction, but you dont want to miss out on him. i'd say $39

Is Allen Craig a must-add now that it appears he's within a week or two of being back?
I hope you did. I've been carrying him all season.
Where's he go when Berkman gets back?
Reports are he is ready to start playing the OF again. Also, interleague play is fast approaching. I would assume one of Matheny's goals is to keep Berkman, Beltran, and Holliday healthy...that means not running them into the ground all summer. The good thing for Craig owners is that might not be possible. Berkman is probably still a week away anyways, maybe more.

Is the minimum bid $1 or $0? Makes a significant difference, imo. With $0 min. bids, you can be far more aggressive. Is it roto or H2H? I don't play H2H, but I'd think you'd have to be a little more conservative in H2H. As a reference point, what have these new closers been going for?If it's $0 min bid roto league, and you don't have any obvious holes at RP, I'd consider going up to $80. Maybe even $85.In those leagues, imo, every dime should be spent on new closers and stars that were stupidly dropped. And there's nothing wrong with blowing most of it early. If you want your late-season call-ups, just be sure to grab them earlier than you might've otherwise. Half of a roto league will be out of it before July rolls around, so saving money is silly. Now, this is coming from someone with only $16 left of a $200 budget, so take it with a grain of salt.

Roto. None of these new closers have been going, because just it seems like every single setup guy is taken. They're all taken before the news changes. Deep league.I bid 42 and got him. We can pick up FA for free, waiver budget is just for recently added/dropped guys. Turns out a GB of mine thought he'd bid 70, but he didn't click all the way through for it. He's mildly annoyed. I am not. Gallardo is probably the best guy that's going to hit the wire all year by a long shot. I'm happy with my new addition.
So do you have to add $42 into the pot or is it some percentage of a funny money budget?

Picked up Chris Johnson to fill in for Zimmerman while he was down.......now I don't want to take him out of the lineup.

I did. He's been awesome...only hoping they find him a more permanent position when Berkman comes back.
2/3 so far tonight with another HR. They'll find a way to keep his bat in the lineup

Andy Dirks was in the 2-hole for DET last night.

It might be coming time to take some that "mediocre OF batting in front of Miggy/Prince" excitement that was directed at Boesch and send it Dirks' way.

It probably won't last, but he's got a little speed and a little pop. Might be worth a flyer.

Worth dropping JD Martinez over?

Worth dropping JD Martinez over?
Only if Dirks plays against LHP
Which he won't. If the Tigers part ways with Delmon Young, Dirks is an everyday player. For now he's a fill option, maybe four starts a week.

All your Dirks are belong to us

A guy in my 10 team just dumped Trout to make room for Berkman. I'm bidding like a mofo on Trout and dumping Prado in the process. Crazy? Maybe but Trout offers much more upside than Prado I think.

I have no idea about bidding, but I would prefer Trout to Prado for sure.

Something Yahoo started last year in our H2H league. We get $100 to start with in the beginning of the year. When it's gone you're out of luck pulling guys who've been dropped to waivers. You can still add/drop as much as you like though.
