Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Anything exciting on the catcher front? Just lost Doumit to the DL. Usual suspects are all rostered.
Jesus Flores, Washington
:goodposting:
The guy has a career 722 OPS in the minors. Is there really anything to see here?
A starting catcher...
Are a couple of Rs and RBI per week worth the small net loss in AVG?
I didn't say he was a good pickup, I just said that he was a starting catcher...

Well he actually has 700+ big league plate appearances and if you look at his 2009 numbers, that is what you are testing the waters with. Also, are you saying that if a player has mediocre OPS numbers in the minors that he won't succeed at the Major League Level? Should I run out and get Jake Fox instead?

Picked up Ryan Hannigan. :bag:
Rumors are swirling that he plays drunk, but nobody can smell it on his breath.

Ironic taking into consideration your username, moops.
Really. So disappointing.
Please explain it. Seinfeld reference?

Ahh, Henningan/Hanigan. Got it

injuries killing me. first sandoval, then jennings, then craig who i picked up to fill in for jennings. nothing but garbage on the waiver wire

Altuve was just dropped in my league for Elliot Johnson.
Do you guys think Altuve is at the point where you can plug him into MI and just ride out any mini-slump? He made contact on 87.5% of swings last season (221 ABs) and is at 92.7% this season (139 ABs) ... with his speed and such a high contact rate, I feel like he's bound to post a high BABIP and may be protected against any prolonged slump. I made the mistake of benching him for Kendrick this week and it hasn't worked out.

i think so

Cards about to DL Craig.
Holy crap. My team: Lawrie, Chris Young, Desmond Jennings, Craig, Sandoval, Luebke. Had Berkman injured, too, at least he's back.I was just forced to pick up David Dejesus to spot fill for the weekend until at least Young comes back. I think my team is cursed.
Yeah I got Luebke, Sandoval, Jennings, and Craig too. There's nothing but junk on my WW. I have 4 empty slots

Rumor Oswalt about to sign. Is he worth picking up?
He's probably better than any other waiver wire SP if you have a slot to stash him in for a month.
I don't know that I agree with that, but I do know I wouldn't waste a roster spot on the guy for over a month, or more. To each his own though.
It depends on how deep your league is and whether the 2010 or 2011 version of Oswalt shows up.

with his history, he's certainly worth a flyer. I am in very deep leagues and I dropped Tyler Greene and Octavio Dotel, respectively to pick him up.

I'm dropping Jarrod Parker for him in a 12 team league. Was going to drop Scherzer, but after Parker's performance today I'm going with him. May go ahead and add Bauer for Scherzer as well.

I'm hanging onto Scherzer, but not starting him for a while. Last year it paid off.

I can't stand Scherzer. Every time I benched him last year, he pitched a gem. Every time I started him, he got rocked. Matchups didn't seem to matter, just totally unpredictable.
Lived the same life with the two colored eye wonder. It's to the point that he's almost unrosterble in some leagues

I keep reading Anthony Rizzo could be called up at any time. Time to pick him up even with a shallow bench or wait it out?

He's way past almost for me. Was on the wire earlier this season. I didn't want anything to do with him. Maybe next year after the pain of him last year isn't as fresh.
I don't have an option - I am a big Mizzou fan and rostered Kinsler and Scherzer as soon as they were eligible for rostering. Kinsler plays every week - Scherzer spends a lot of time warming up in my bullpen but rarely sees the starting lineup.

I haven't benched Scherzer and don't plan on it anytime soon.

There are a lot of pitchers that have a chance to get shelled every time out. Very few of them have 48 K's in 41 IP.

You get Scherzer for the K's. Picking and choosing his starts is a good way to end up with all the bad and very little of the good.

Need to pick up a SS for slumping Dee Gordon...5x5 h2h...here's the top 5 FA according to CBS:

Thoughts?

Sean Rodriguez

Elliot Johnson

Pastornicky

Andino

Bloomquist

Elliot Johnson is having a very nice past 3 weeks. He should get regular playing time while Longoria is out, and he steals bases.

Can't really see it with short benches and NO guarantee if/when he might be called up
May 20thCubs manager Dale Sveum said he will talk to team president Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer about the possibility of bringing Anthony Rizzo up in June. Not surprisingly, Sveum notes that if Rizzo is promoted, he'll have to play regularly. That likely means a move to the outfield for Bryan LaHair. Rizzo is crushing Triple-A pitching this season to the tune of a .353/.418/.706 batting line with 14 homers and 39 RBI. Of course, he mashed in the minors last year, as well, before struggling in the bigs. Still, he'd be worth an immediate add in mixed leagues if promoted.

Studly today, a shame he can't see the Pirates more often. But he does get the hapless Twinkies next weekend.

Would you drop Hosmer for Rizzo or Adams?
Saw your team in the trade advice thread. Why can't you drop Paulino or somebody else for one of those 2? I'd take Rizzo and sit on him until they move Lahair to a corner outfield spot. I think once Craig comes off the DL he'll get the lion share of starts at 1B.

Is Dee Gordon droppable? He's killing me...thankfully Aviles has been able to keep him out of the starting lineup on my team anyway, but I am finding it real hard to drop him for some reason.

Dozier is on the FA market in my league. Good swap?

So you think Adams gets sent back down? Or isn't goin to be an everyday player? Can't Craig play in the OF?
