Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (2 Viewers)

Campana - 3 bags in less than 2 games.
4
They quoted a great stat during the broadcast. In the majors, when Campana has gotten on base, he's stolen a base more than half the time.
Wow. Is he going to get regular playing time or is he stuck in a 3-way for CF?
I think long-term he won't be playing every day, but he's really been a sparkplug for the offense the past couple nights and I suspect Svuem will ride him while he's hot.

Anyone grabbing Jarrod Parker in redrafts?
Silliest question I have seen in a while
How about a 9 team redraft with only 4 bench spots? My worst SP is Minor. Still dumb?
I said SILLY mainly because you gave us NO information about league format/size and picking up a rookie pitcher - even a good one like Parker is extremely dependent on league size/format as well as your current pitching staff AND team needs

This year's Sam Fuld?

Jose Altuve
He's still on my WW and I'm really surprised by it. Just dropped Niese for him. Runs will be tough given his spot in the batting order (seems like Lowrie is apparently a lock for the 2-hole), and while no one expects a .400 BABIP all season, his BB% and K% look good. I'll take a nice OBP and some SBs
I mentioned him a week or so ago. The time to nab him is quickly passing. The kid can hit. You're right. The line-up slot sucks. Hard to imagine an Astro sporting a .900+ OPS really has no hope of cracking the top 5 or 6, but that's the way it looks right now.
Well look at that...Altuve is hitting second today with Lowrie batting fifth. Altuve was a big sleeper this year on a bunch of websites ... hopefully he doesn't begin to regress right when I slot him into my lineup...

I'm sure it's coming, but Jose's not in the mood to start regressing today.

13 team Roto 6x6 (standard w/ OBP and holds)...short bench (3 bench spots) and 1 DL spot with Michael Morse parked on it.

I had Santos go down and while saves are hard to come by in this league I'm not sure how smart it is to have him sitting on my bench for a minimum of 4 weeks. Pretty sure he'll be snapped up as soon as I drop him but I like to use 1 bench spot to stream or add an RP as needed. Rosster is such that I'll basically have to drop Santos to do that. You guys think I should sit tight with Santos and hope he comes back at the 4 week mark, doesn't suck and gets his job back from Coco or just cut bait and pick up a hold guy who will at least accumulate Ks and Holds? I have a few closers listed below...

Marmol

Santiago

League

I could get a guy like K Rod who was just dropped or Cashner who I dropped a few days ago if I drop Santos. what say ye?

ETA: Sorry if this is in the wrong thread

I wouldn't sit on an injured closer with that shallow of a bench, they're de-valued in that format with holds anyway.

I'm going to regret this at some point this season, but I've had it with Bourjos.

Hello, Pedro...Strop? Whoever you are. Ernesto Frieri, you too. But at least I know who you are.

No clue what I'm going to do in my two weekly leagues though. I have to replace him with a bat in each and there's NOTHING out there. One's a head to head and my team is raking so I'm inclined to wait a bit there, but the other is a roto, my offense is dreadful, and waivers are a wasteland of middling crap. Schierholtz? Garrett Jones? Glass Chipper? Juan Francisco? Nieuwenhuis? Jon Jay? Campana? Damon? Moreland? Allen Craig? Jed Lowrie?

Blech.

I dropped Bourjos about a week ago. He's looked horrible. I'd rather have some middling crap on my roster. As it is, I was able to pick up LaHair and it's looking like that could turn out all right.

I'm giving him a little more time, but the legit reasons to hang on are pretty much gone.I just don't have many options at the moment. I'm currently rostering 12 freaking OF'ers (Ellsbury, Morse, C.Young, Stanton, Choo, Reimold, LaHair, Bourjos, L.Scott, Belt, Nieuewenhuis, Schierholtz), but still have trouble fielding 5 on most nights. The "wasteland of middling crap" is my OF most nights. I'm probably giving Bourjos a few more days. I'm not sure why though.

Which of the middling crap looks best to you in a weekly league? If it were daily I'd get a Venable/Garrett Jones platoon but can't do that in this league.

Tough call, but I'd roll with Schierholtz for now.

As an fyi, Nieuwenhuis is hitting leadoff for the Mets today. With Murphy and Wright hitting over 300, he may be a decent source of runs and maybe 15 SBs. Tough play against lefties though and the K% isn't very inspiring. I would just roll with Campana since you know he'll get you SBs...

So how concerned should I be that my team is 10th of 12 teams, and is about to lose all 12 categories this week to the #11 team?

It's never fun to start slow, but I think you've got a nice team there. Without knowing the 12 categories and not being terribly experienced in H2H leagues, it looks to me like you'll be fine. Finding some more closers/relievers would help though.

Standard 5x5, 12 team redraft...

How would you rank these OF's moving forward:

A. Rios

L. Scott

M. Joyce

J. Kubel

C. Ross

How about these pitchers:

J. Hammel

J. Niese

T. Milone

R. Detwiler

h2h 6x6 league, that ium assuming devalues saves, marmol is barely rosterable in this format. just awful.

Probably dropping Bourjos and Schierholtz today for 2 of Garrett Jones, Ibanez, and Chris Davis (I just cut him a few days ago and he's my "I've had him forever and I can't stand the thought of the breakout happening on someone else's team" player.)

Any thoughts on Bugosevic?

He had a solid little debut last year and has been pretty unlucky this year. He's heating up a little.

Not looking for much. Just wondering if he might be able to give me the 10-20 sort of season I was hoping for from Bourjos. Unlike Bourjos, he's got little competition for ABs and he can take a walk.

Was Gavin Floyd a good waiver wire pickup? 12Team league, 23-man rosters
He's probably borderline rosterable in a league that size. He's maddening. He'll go on a 6 game run where he's lights out, then put up 3 or 4 stinkers. It's just a matter of getting him at the right time. As for the right time, not sure that's now.If the rotation stays in tact, here are his next 5 startsBOS@DETKC@LAAMINWouldn't consider any of those easy starts except Min. But it will be hard for him to lose that game against Detroit since he's matched up against Scherzer.

I personally like Floyd, even though I confess I drafted and later dropped him this season (due mostly to the fact that I have a strong SP staff). Definitely a borderline guy in a 12-teamer, but when he's got his stuff working, he's a great value. Decent Ks. Nice WHIP. And if the Sox keep playing well, he'll get you some Ws. But like LD says, he can burn you on random starts. But that's kind of true of any waiver guy.

Not sure how good the info is, but atleast on the Rotoworld Forums, there are rumors that if/when Zimmerman hits the DL, the Nats might call up Harper. Don't know how realistic it is or even where the info is coming from but people are saying thats the buzz in Washington. Even though Harper hasn't been setting AAA on fire, I guess Davey Johnson is a big fan and since the Nats are winning enough they might just pull the trigger.

Take this all with a grain a salt but if you have an extra spot hanging around your team it might be worth a speculative add.

Dropping Schierholtz???WHY? He is doing better than all of the other outfielders you have mentioned

Sure IF I played in any leagues where he wasn't already rostered(and he can't play third base nor can any of their other outfielders so I don't see how it is tied to Zimmerman missing time)

Could be and probably is a mistake. (I cut him for Garrett Jones and Bourjos for Bugosevic). I'm just not a believer, for some reason. Even though is BABIP is actually low and he's striking out less then he used to.Jones is having a good season too, but he's getting pretty lucky and striking out a lot as usual.I'll probably try to get Schierholtz back tomorrow. Guess I just felt like tinkering. I'm hoping not to be using this roster spot on an OF much longer anyway.

Jones is having a good season too, but he's getting pretty lucky and striking out a lot as usual.
He hasn't been lucky, he's streaky. This is just one of his hot streaks. His total numbers have been consistently good vs. righties since he broke out and it seems like most of them come during one of his 2-3 hot streaks/year, just can't hit lefties.

Yep, debut tomorrow...

Well Good for Harper - and Nats fans - AND Harper owners

Zim IS going on the DL....if you are in need of 3b/CI help the Nationals may well give the time to Steve Lombardozzi who has been terrific and already qualifies at third (based on most games played last year - he had three games each at 2B and 3B)

Not sure it is. Not sure he's ready. Even Rizzo said this wasn't ideal from a development prospective.

Also, if I do one of the moves, would you pick up Stephen Drew or Carlos Quentin to stash on the DL?

I would Absolutely drop Reynolds to pick up Harper (up tomorrow!) or Scott if you need hitting....or for Milone or Rodgriguez if you need SP or SavesWhy would the other move matter whether you pick up Quentin or Drew....IF you have an additional DL spot(s) I would pick up Drew to give you greater lineup flexiblity later BUT do you have to drop a player to do it? If so seems like the right play would be Drop Masterson; add Drew; DL Drew; pick up Milone or Rodriquez
