Addai/D. Williams Hype (1 Viewer)

Williams and Addai are WAY overhyped, especially Addai, hearing stuff like top 5.

Philly Defense during a bad, bad stretch:

Week 11 - Travis Henry, 21.1 fantasy points

Week 12 - Joseph Addai, 44.8 fantasy points in prime time

Week 13 - Deangelo Williams, 23.5 fantasy points

Week 14 - Ladell Betts, 18.5 fantasy points (171 yards)

Addai had 4 of his 7 TDS in this game, D. Williams had 23.5 of his 98 fantasy points for the year in this one game. The Eagles are responsible for the total overhype of these 2 players. Addai had 3 freaking TDS in the whole year minus this one game, top 5 you say. :lmao:

There were only 40 or so rushing touches that seperated Addai and Rhodes in 06'. Even so he carried the ball 226 times and had a 4.8 rushing average, as a rookie. He has also proven to be a valuable dump off option for Manning as his 40 receptions last year showed. He has additional value this year in that he is one of about 10 RB's that will clearly be the workhorse on his team. That along with the threat of the Colts passing game makes Addai a clear top 10 pick. I haven't seen consistent arguments in favor of a top 5 status. I would argue 6-9 in redraft with you.

Sure... it's almost as  as thinking Gore could be a decent RB last off season given he was an injury waiting to happen on a bad offense in SF.

Addai could be completely average this year and still post 1000 and 10+ - just b/c he'll be the main RB option on the best offense in the NFL. He performed very well considering he was a rookie AND splitting carries w/ Rhodes. His "talent" is still debatable, but his opportunity is among the best available - and barring injury, that's why he's a mid-late first round selection in dynasty or re-draft.

Williams is considered the opposite (IMO). Talented, but ?s about his role and the offense's total production in CAR. If given the FT (or bulk of the RBBC) in CAR this season he'll likely out perform his ADP of a 3rd or 4th round pick. More of a gamble (re-draft wise), because of the presence of Foster - but I don't see how his projections at this point are unreasonable. He looks like a solid RB3 option at this point - with upside of a lot more if the situation plays out in his favor.

So because these two players did well against the Eagles, they are overrated? Why not give some things they did poorly as reasons they are overrated instead of things they did well. Just a thought... :goodposting:

Aren't good players supposed to go off against horrible defenses?

This was an argument many on this board used for years against Shaun Alexander...surprised it's not getting more love.

Addai will be fine. With that offense so wide open, there is no reason he can't rush for 1,000 yards and have another 400 yards receiving. His yards per rush were really good too. I have no worries about Addai.

Last year was the first year in awhile that he stayed healthy . . . I have concerns about him carrying 300+ times (something he didnt do at LSU) . . .

How many RB's carry 300+ times in one season of college football? Not many. Both Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch carried under 250 times in their Senior season, does this make them any more of a question mark in the NFL? With the way people freak out around here because so and so has too many carries for their career, you would think this is anything but a negative.

Peterson WOULD HAVE carried 300 times last year and in 2005 if he hadn't gotten hurt . . . he DID 339 times as a freshman, so I'm not sure what your point is . . .

I have more concern about Peterson holding up than I do of Addai. Peterson runs too upright and takes a lot of hard, direct, hits. Addai looked really strong last year. i don't see why he isn't ready to shoulder the load.

That is my point. Addai would have carried more times, had he not had nagging injuries throughout his Senior season. Like Peterson.
