Addai, DWill, Maroney (1 Viewer)

1. Joseph Addai

He has all of DeAngelo Williams' best attributes, but is noticeably quicker and has that second gear that DWill lacks.

Staff with highest ranking: John Norton :thumbup:

For those who havent seen him heres some highlights:

2. DeAngelo Williams

DeAngelo Williams has excellent vision, quick feet, but he lacks that second gear. More of a power back than an Edgerrin James type back like Addai.

3. Laurence Maroney

He's very stiff in the way he moves, and that will really cost him at the next level, he needs work on his cutting ability and field vision, he's very fast, but he tends to rely on that speed too much, and doesnt find the cut back lanes, and as a result tends to run in straight lines constantly.

Staff with lowest ranking: Cecil Lammey, Jeff Pasquino :thumbup:

what exactly did Addai do at LSU to suggest that he is a beter back than deangelo williams? The ONE and ONLY reason to take JA over DW this year is his situation, and even then, you are reaching. IMO, williams is one foster injury away from being a top 14-17 RB. I think he is that talented.

Addai is a nice fit for the colts system, and a decent talent, but to compare his style and talent level to edge is pure lunacy.

edit: i do agree with you about maroney. I believe he is a product of the gopher's RB friendly system. Every time i watched him play, he was being brought down in the backfield by 5'9 175 lb corner backs. Also, his backup (russell) looked better every time i saw them play. I think he's gonna flop in the NFL and i will avoid him like the plague in my keeper league draft.

Thanks for the links.Does it seem to anyone else that Maroney seemed to be getting caught a lot? Just didn't seem like he was really running away from anybody in those clips (and maybe that's not his game). But I thought he was supposed to be fast-ish?

DeAngelo Williams

YEAR ATT YDS AVG LNG TD

2002 103 684 6.6 86 5

2003 243 1430 5.9 49 10

2004 313 1948 6.2 75 22

2005 310 1964 6.3 76 18

JOSEPH ADDAI STATS

Att Yds Avg TD

187 911 4.9 9

That's his best year by far, his next best year was his jr year he had 630 yards and 3 whole rushing TDS.

Last 2 years Deangelo averaged 1900 rush yards and 20 TDS per year. Addai went for 750 yards and 6 TDS.

DeAngelo = 1900, 20

Addai = 750, 6

Difference per year = 1150, 14

The Difference in these 2 guys numbers would actually make a Willis McGahee 2004 season.......... :shock:

I must be blind because Maroney didn't look stiff at all to me. I guess if your not dancing around some people think that you are stiff.

I'm not even a big fan of Williams and I'd say this is completely false. Of this year's top 5 rookies, Addai is easily the least impressive in his highlights.

SEC defenses>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> conference USA defense.I'm not saying Addai is better, but comparing stats is like comparing real stats to stats on Madden. Addai fits the colts system and can be a very good player in the NFL, but for FF I would take L. Moroney, D. Williams, before Addai.

yeah, i dont think college stats are a good way to compare the two. Addai was on an elite team in an elite conference and had to share the load.

williams was jesus christ to the unviersity and memphis and all of its conference foes.

personally, i believe williams would have been an AA if he played in the SEC (unless it was kentucky) but we will never know. I still think he will be a very, very good NFL RB. I have the 4th and 7th picks in my upcoming rookie/FA draft and im gonna take him if he falls to 4.

Did we watch the same clips? I'm not a big Maroney fan, but in those clips I thought he looked WAY better than Addai or DWill. These clips have made my decision at #2 much tougher....
