I know, another thread on rookie RB's (like it hasn't already been beaten into the ground).
I'm curious to hear the opinions of others about not only who will have the best season this year, but also which guy will be in the best situation for 2007 and beyond.
My opinions:
2006
1. Addai - great offense, great fit for the offense (anyone who saw him at LSU knows he's a great receiver), Indy wants to win NOW and they drafted him over help at LB or in the secondary for a reason. Not exactly a vote of confidence for Rhodes, IMO. Floor this year (baring injury): 600, 4, 200, 0....Ceiling: 1100, 8, 300, 1
2. Maroney - good, but not great offense (their lack of playmakers at WR is getting ridiculous). He's behind a talented, but aging guy in Dillon. If Dillon stays healthy then Maroney could struggle to get on the field enough to make an impact. If Dillon gets hurt, then he could be a monster. Floor: 400, 2, 100, 0....
Ceiling (assuming Dillon gets hurt early): 1200, 10, 150,0
3. Williams - Car. could throw more this year b/c of K. Johnson and b/c their schedule may dictate that they will need to score more. Foster is talented, but brittle. Shelton could vulture some short yardage TD's. I think they want Foster to be "the guy" when healthy so most of Deangelo's value is wrapped up in how many games Foster plays. Floor: 400, 2, 100, 0....Ceiling(if Foster gets hurt early): 1000, 6, 300, 1
Addai doesn't quite the upside for this year as the other two, but his playing time is not going to depend on the health of others to the same extent as Maroney and Williams.
2007
1. Maroney - b/c of Dillon's age and contract I doubt he's back next year. That puts Maroney in line for 1300 and 10 if he can stay healthy. 1500 and 12 isn't out of reach.
2. Addai - if he takes to the offense and stays healthy then there's no reason he can't put up 1200, 8, and 300.
3. Williams - I think Foster stays around and they end up splitting time once again. While he may be more talented than the other two, he's going to have a more difficult time getting the lion's share of the playing time.
Ok, someone tell me why I'm wrong.....
