Advice on Auction/Dynasty League (1 Viewer)

After a few years of redraft and limited keepers I am thinking of getting involved in an Auction style draft Dynasty League that includes some type of a salary cap. I am checking out Myfantasyleague.com and there a thousands of options. I would appreciate any advice from guys that have done this and have experience on what works best with running a league like this.

Are you talking about doing an auction for the initial dynasty draft and then just doing a regular dynasty after that? Or keeping the salary cap around for future years? The latter usually doesn't make much sense.

Was thinking of trying to keep the salary cap around, but not sure how it would work. The more I think about it the more complicated it seems and likely too much so. I am just trying to explore some options and seeing what has worked best for guys that may have tried a league like this.

Bite your tongue!Salary cap dynasty leagues are some of the best leagues out there. Far more critical thinking involved when you have to not only evaluate a player, but have to do so in the context of a salary cap and how his current and future salaries/contracts will fit into it.

Totally agree. Makes a big difference when you have to put on your fantasy GM hat and determine if Victor Cruz Is worth xx% of your salary cap, based on his 2011 season, or if you think it was a fluke. Salary cap league carries the impact of that decision - right or wrong - several seasons into the future...

I've been commish of an awesome big $ auction dynasty league for 5 years now. It's been pretty amazing. We all came from redraft format and many owners were weary as it seemed so much more complicated, and you have added homework to do with following rookies comin into the nfl draft more closely. The first ear was tough with a lot of #####ing, but once everyone got used to the new format everyone love it and now no one wants to go back to redraft.

The best piece of advice I can give you is to have a very clear set of rules and regulations in place that cover ALL of the potential issues that might arise, and there are many.

If you'd like I can pot the rules we use for our league. Or send you the link to our mfl league and I think you can see them rt there
