AFTER SEEING WEEK 1 (1 Viewer)

Prolly not the forum for it but I don't understand why TO is considered to be shut down after catching 7 for over 100 yards. :loco:

And Otter, I'd take 5 tackles and an INT every game from my CBs and walk away happy. Hell, I'd take that from my Ss. :bag:
becasue i only saw the 2nd half, where he WAS shutdown! :)
FYI, they play 2 halfs in the NFL.
Get out of here! No Way!They asked why it was said that T.O was 'shutdown.' I was just stating why i said that
While the system you use to evaluate players saves time (only watch one half), I'll stick to total game performance for the bottomline.

.8 solo/.4 assist - 3 pt. bonus at 10 solo & 15 solo

1.5 int/fbl rec

.05 pts. per yard int return/flb rec return

1.5 sack - bonus at 3 sacks

1 forced fumble

3 pts TD
I just ran some numbers quick so I may be off a bit but . . . Going off the numbers for solo, assists, INTs, recoveries, sacks, and FF . . .

A DB who had 80 solo tackles and 16 INTs last year would have been second only to Rodney Harrison . . . I think.
Yes, but what CB or DB is going to get 16 interceptions???
Your exact words were:"I would not be content with my starting DB getting 5 tackles and 1 int EVERY game."

Maybe he is really good at picking who is going to have 10 tackles, 3 assists, a sack, and an int every game?
You're right, I am. :hophead:

If you read my post, I wrote that Hall had a good fantasy game (for a CB), but not a great fantasy game. Five tackles and one Interception is NOT a great fantasy game. In my opinion a "great" fantasy game is 10 tackles and an Interception. That's why I like Strong Safteys as starters any day over a cornerback, because you have a much better chance of getting a "great" game. I would NOT be content with my starting DB getting 5 tackles and 1 Int every game... Average at best in FFball.
Sorry but this is the one of most strange comments I have ever seen here. Five solos and an int is not a great game? That has to be somewhere around 10 points in most scoring systems (it is 12 in ours but we use 1.25 per tckl). Don't forget that an int also gets a pd. Any DB getting 10 ppg is going to be the top at their position. Harrison is projected to have 152 points this season by FBGs which is less than 10 ppg.

In deep leagues FS Todd Johnson with Chicago is a guy to put on your radar. He filled in with decent stats last year when Mike Brown was out and may end up as the starter at FS. Mike Green was benched in the second half versus Washington for poor play. Johnson had 4 solos and 2 assists when he got in the game.
Actually, Chris Harris is the new starter, and Todd Johnson is only coming on obvious running downs, in place of a CB. Im going to post a thread on this because i think it deserves one.

I see lots of love for Nick Ferguson, would you drop any of these guys in a dynasty league for him?Archuleta, AdamGriffith, RobertScott, Bryan

i think ferguson is a one hit wonder. to me, he looks more like a good #3 DB.archuletta has some health issue, and griffith is long in the tooth, but i'd hold on to them. maybe for rhodes, but to me ferguson has been around the NFL long enough for this to appear as an abberation.

i'll mention that i have gone through this whole thread, and from time to time will see guys who are backup DB who got into the game and had big games listed. don't be fooled by a big number, make sure the guys are starting.

for what its worth too, focus on SS and FS who consistently put up tackle numbers.

That is exactly how I view Ferguson. He will be a steady, solid DB with a few premier weeks and few bad weeks. The ideal description of a borderline #2 or good #3 DB. For instance, I have Ed reed as my #1 and Gibril Wilson as my #2 (I could argue that Gibril is also a #1...but for these purposes he is a solid #2). I then look for a few extra dbs to provide coverage for byes or injuries. What am I looking for? SS. The only CBs I would consider are tackling machines like Winfield or Robinson...but they are gone before you would select your DB3 and DB4. So I rolled the dice on Darren Sharper and Sean Jones (who lost his starting job). Ferguson is a guy you pick up as a solid reserve/bye week cover guy. Not a guy you think will carry you to the playoffs. When I saw Jones lose his job, Ferguson was an excellent replacement.

Good point. The guys I listed are guys to keep an eye on, not necessarily guys you should jump on. However, in my dynasty league the bidding has already begun on some of them. :wall:

i am in a 12 team, salary cap based keep league.i am carrying Ed Reed and Gibril Wilson as my starters that I kept from last year. I also have Mike Boulware. We start two, so I felt pretty set and only picked up Travis Daniels from LSU as a fun player. After week one, I added Kerry Rhodes to my roster. I hope he is the next Victor Green! Our scoring system is weighted toward tackles more than any I have seen, but we do give points for Passes Defensed (3, same as tackle) as well as reward INT return yards and scoring bonuses on TD.Will add to the list of corners RONDE BARBER. He has been a top ten player for the last five years and is the exception ot the rule Tackle--3 pts Assist--1 pt Sack--4 pts 1/2 Sack--2 pts Int--5 pts Fumble Recovery--3 pts Int or FR for TD--6 pts Safety--5 pts Forced Fumble -- 2 point Interception/Fumble Return Yardage 1 point per 20 yards Passes Defensed 3 points Blocked Kick -- 3 points Fumble Lost--1 pt Touchdown: 6 points Points for distance scoring Yards Yards 10-29 (1) 70-89 (4) 30-49 (2) 90 + (6) 50-69 (3)

my two cents after seeing the monday night game.........mcnabb not being able to hit an open reciever (thanks in large part to the atl def line) was what helped "shut down" TO, if catching balls for 100+ can be called that. i seem to recall several times that a well thrown ball to an open TO woulda resulted in big gains and possibly TDs. regardless of who "shut down" TO, hall needs to relax and not get in a guys face after the game like he did with owens. lol, and we talk about wr that overcelebrate when they score a td. what a tool :wall:

I feel better about picking up Nick Ferguson for Sean Jones after week 2. Jones wasn't even on the stat sheet and Ferguson got 5 solos. Now I have to wait and see how badly D Sharper is hurt. I may be having to make a move for another DB. Doss is available.

What about Kyle VandenBosch this weekend? He had 3 sacks, 2 of them on back-to-back plays in the 4th quarter. I almost picked him up last week, but I went for DT John Thornton against MIN instead (and I think every other IDP had a good game but him). :sadbanana:

He was a guy I cut last year in favor of keeping Gerard Warren and - ironically - Corey Simon. He looked like a man possessed last night. I thought Simon might have a resurgence paired up with Freeney, but maybe Triplett's going to be the big beneficiary. Good call.
Pierson Prioleau (Redskins) - 4 solo and 1 assisted
Surprise performance to be sure, but Matt Bowen will be right back in there next game as the starter. Prioleau is a better safety than I thought, but his primary function is as a special teams maven.
Anyone have any updates on Bowen?
