AJ Hawk (1 Viewer)

Hawk is none of those. I'm sure the Packers are happy to have him, but he's not a star player. And since he's probably the highest or 2nd highest paid player on that defense, that's really what you want out of him.
Actually, I am pretty sure that KGB, Woodson, Harris, and Kampman are higher paid, and Barnett just got a new contract during the offseason, so he likely makes more as well. I'm not sure on the numbers, but Cullen Jenkins might also be higher paid. I think Hawk is doing just fine for being the 6th or 7th highest paid defensive player.
$37.5 million and consisted of more than $15 million in guarantees?KGB I know have far less guaranteed money.

"Packers sign Harris to five-year, $19M extension"

"Packers gave Kampman a four-year, $21 million contract with $12 million in guaranteed money"

"The six-year, $35 million extension that Barnett signed on Tuesday contained between $11 million and $12 million in guaranteed first-year money"

Looks like Hawk is the 3rd highest paid player on the defense. His deal looks better then Barnett, with more guaranteed money, but the article was not clear.

Woodson is making a ton. From what I read, less guaranteed money then Hawk.

So again, Hawk one of the highest paid defenders on the Packers, not 6th/7th/8th. More like 2nd/3rd.
Full contract...probably. The part of being a 1st year.Now...looking at just last year's camp numbers. (and this is before some extensions)

First was Woodson at $7.303 million

Next was Kampman's at just over $6 million

Next was KGB at 5.426 million

Next was Pickett at 5 million.

Next was Harris at 3.375 million

Then Hawk at 2.185 million

with Barnett at 1.109 (before his extension I believe)\

So why is Hawk ranked higher on the prelim cheat sheets than Barnett? Barnett's been producing at a greater clip than Hawk most of the season.

They are projected to have the same number of points in FBG scoring. Barnett has one more assist, Hawk a fractional percentage more big plays. I haven't examined the trends this week, but my guess is that OLBs may have down relatively better against KC given the number of passes they throw to TE and RBs. (ETA: Yes, OLBs have been solid starts in most instances against KC.)Raw talent and level of play factor into weekly projections, but scoring system, opportunity and matchup are just as important. It wouldn't shock me to find that Barnett was projected above Hawk the majority of, if not every, other week this year.

5 tackles and 1 int in the past game. Played great covering the run as well.

And, just so no one scoffs at the 5 tackles in the game, the leading Packers player had 6 and it was not Barnett.
