Tigers

Tribe

Twins, Chisox, Royals tied for last

Tigers are stacked on offense, we'll see if they can get a solid bullpen effort. If they do, they should win this division handily. Indians are a good team, but not as good offensively as the Tigers, and with their own question marks in the bullpen. Solid 1-2 starters, if they make the playoffs again, they could beat anyone in a series.

What's sad is three of the best teams in the AL reside in this division yet I believe only one will make the playoffs. I'll be a homer and say Detroit, but offseason's don't win championships. Our bats will keep us in the hunt, but we'll only go as far as our arms take us.

Detroit 92-70

Cleveland 90-72

White Sox 85-77

Royals 74-88

Twins 71-91

If this really is the best division then 2 teams should make the playoffs, even with them playing each other a lot.

Do you really think that one of them is going to beat out the NYY/Boston loser for the wild card spot, though?

I think Cleveland will win as many games as the Yanks, so it could be close for the wildcard. Boston & Tigers should win their divisions IMO.

Kidding, right? The White Sox are no longer and elite team.........I'll give you at least 3 reasons they are not.

Gavin Floyd has pitched a total of 178.2 innings in the bigs.........he hasn't had an ERA under 5.27 in the past 3 years(and most of that time was spent in the NL)

John Danks only has only got 139 MLB innings under his belt, all last year......where he posted an ERA of 5.5 and a WHIP of 1.54

Jose Contreras went 10-17 last year and posted a huge ERA of 5.57 and a monster WHIP of 1.56, that and the fact he's closer to 46 then 36, and it doesn't look good

Marc Buehrle is a work horse.

Javier Vazquez had a great year after 3 straight years of decline........was last year just smoke and mirrors?

For the Sox to be considered to be a top team in the AL, they must come up with a pitching staff..........and right now, this staff isn't going to scare anyone but Sox fans.

-Under the radar acquisitions Swisher and Cabrera, big upgrade defensively at SS-Konerko, Dye, and Pierzinski all had down years in 07, I'm expecting a bump back up this year. Not up to 06 levels, but definitely better than last year.-Crede's healthy again and I am expecting a big year for Fields. Not breakout worthy, but note worthy-Vazquez's 07 was no fluke-I expect the young starters to improve, nothing special but nothing as bad as last year either-While very overpaid, the bullpen is solidI think the White Sox will be the thorn in the Tigers and Indians' side ensuring only one team qualifies for the playoffs.

With their current bullpen their starters just have to be average. I don't think they can win the division, but do enough to hurt those at the top? Absolutely.

:goodposting: Starting pitching will be a question. Good young talent but will Danks or Floyd figure it out. If they can hold a lead late they should be able to get it done with a good bullpen.

If Crede is healthy and Quentin figures it out, the lineup could be pretty potent but this reminds me of the old Sox: lots of HR's but no team speed. Dye, Swisher, Konerko, Thome will be nice pop but they need to produce like 2 years ago.

I think the Twins and Sox will be similar in record, battling for .500 and 3rd place in the division.

nah, it just seemed a little weird at the time, thats all

most of Toledo roots for detroit teams.
And an Ann Arbor team. That's why the rest of Ohio would rather just see that place within Michigan's border. We don't want them.
hmmm.. I live pretty close to Toledo, an work with several people from there, Seems to me Toledo likes the Tigers,Wings and Buckeye Football. Lions/browns split about 50/50.
Of course I'm exaggerating a little bit, but the college football is probably more towards the 50/50 line. That said, it should be 90/10 minimum in favor of all Ohio teams, that's why they can go.

Hey, screw you buddy. 75% of people are OSU fans in Toledo. You're probably just upset because some of don't root for the collective stink holes that are Cleveland and Cincy.
It's weird meeting a Tigers and Buckeyes fan. Really weird. I've met a lot in Toledo though and since I like the Tigers more than any sports team college or pro, I forgive some Tiger fans for obvious flaws of character.

You have to expect it in Toledo... The Tigers and previously the Wings had minor league affiliate's here.... imagine that there are Michigan and Cleveland fans and see how you feel.

Really please list me Cleveland and Cincy's last respective titles. Go away... my guess, your another angry Cleveland fan who is pissed at the ineptitude of the Indians, Browns and Cavs. Enjoy facing Miggy this year and losing C.C. next year... and then enjoy Cleveland not being able to keep up with the big D's payroll cause Illitch has fat pockets.

Please do not get the majority of Tigers fans confused with this clown. Smart Tigers fans know the division race is going to be a battle this year, the dumb ones think we won it with the Miggy trade. Last I checked Miggy doesn't pitch.

Ummm... I don't believe I ever said anything about it being an easy race, but I have to excuse Cleveland fans from YOU for being a WEAK Tigers fan. There is nothing wrong with talking trash, especially when it involves my home town and my favorite team in the world. Cleveland has made very few moves this offseason and I know this bothers Cleveland fans (at least the ones that I know). Tigers have wrapped up all key peices long term except for Miggy and those negotiations are about to start... all this while CC's talks have stopped until next offseason. I will talk all the trash I like given the situation at hand but don't confuse that with my take on the season... and don't call me a clown, chach.

Yeah, they just root for another stinkhole in Detroit. Good day, sir.
   Nowhere did I mention anything about titles. Just stinkhole, guy. Thanks for the classic "I got nothing else to come at you with so I go to the titles schtick". You'll look even worse when you go there after we win our next title. Because you know what, people like you will. :lmao:
Did I miss the first time you won a title?... I might not have been born yet. Please remind me.
Apparently.

most of Toledo roots for detroit teams.
And an Ann Arbor team. That's why the rest of Ohio would rather just see that place within Michigan's border. We don't want them.
Hey, screw you buddy. 75% of people are OSU fans in Toledo. You're probably just upset because some of don't root for the collective stink holes that are Cleveland and Cincy.

It might be a while... Oh wait isn't global warming supposed to kill us all? I guess you guys will never see a pro team in Cleveland/Cincinnati win a title.
