AL/NL MVP/CY YOUNG (1 Viewer)

I am not sure it is possible, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Cabrera make a legit run at Trout. Also, Verlander had a marquee game tonight with 8 innings, 0 ER, 14 Ks against the Yankees.

He threw 96 strikes tonight. Only 2nd time in last 10 year's that has happened.

Was just looking at the Weaver v Verlander comparison:

So which of these do you give the Cy Young to? Obviously I'm ignoring others. And hoping this comes through legible.

Games IP ERA ERA+ W L SO WAR H/9 SO/9 WHIP CG

Weaver 20 131 2.13 175 15 1 101 3.7 6.4 6.9 0.916 3

JV 23 168.2 2.51 167 12 7 166 5.4 6.7 8.9 0.984 6

Its close, but I think you have to go Verlander based on the huge advantage in IP and WAR (BReference version).

####. That didn't come out right. Oh well. I hope you can read it.

IP? Really? That is one of the reasons to vote for Verlander over Weaver?

AL:

I think the slight edge goes to Weaver in CY right now but obviously that can change at any moment. Also in the running are Verlander, Price, & Sale (wow what a race!)

MVP is Trout a near lock right now with Miggy trailing

ROY is duh Trout

NL:

CY may be Cueto right now with Dickey trailing

MVP is McCutchen with Votto still a darkhorse

ROY will be Harper but should be Miley

No one mentioning Felix Hernandez for AL Cy Young. He belongs in the discussion with Weaver and Verlander.

Absolutely. Innings pitched is hugely valuable. Verlander has given the Tigers over 3 more games of excellent pitching than Weaver has given Anaheim. How can that be understated? ANA is 5 games back of Texas and 0.5 ahead of Oakland in the Wild Card race. You don't think those extra 3 games are important??

If the season ended today Trout would probably edge Miggy.

Season doesn't end today though, I think Cabrera will win it because he just doesn't slump. Trout has to doesn't he?

I'll throw in a mention for Chapman for NL Cy. He's striking out almost 50% of batters faced (16.88 K/9). Relievers have to be near perfect to generate serious consideration and he does have a few blown saves this season. So it most likely won't be enough but this is a pretty ridiculous season.

Price needs to start being involved. He's carrying this team.
Yea....last 10 starts....he's given up 3 runs once, 2 runs three times, 1 run three times, and 0 runs three times. And that was against New York, Baltimore, Detroit, LAA, and Oakland among others....all playoff rivals.

Todd Frazier for ROTY.289/.343/.84917hr/54rbiThose numbers look way better than Hype Harper's number.
Harper isn't even in the conversation. It's a 2 horse race, imo:-Wade Miley, P , Dbacks-Todd Frazier, 3B/1B, RedsBryce Harper has fallen off a cliff since the ASB. Also, Zach Cozart has been putting together a very quiet 30 doubles season too, but it's going to be one of the above 2.

Got another win. Only 10 behind dickey... And 29 saves ahead of him.

2nd time this month Price throws 8 scoreless and gets a no-decision.

His Aug: 30 IP, 15 hits, 5 BB, 26 K, 2 ER.

I can appreciate there are better cases to be made, but felix has been stellar. Everytime I look up he is winning another game 1-0. Doesn't he have like 10 starts allowing 1 or fewer runs? That is gross

If Miguel Cabrera doesn't win the AL MVP this season they should just do away with the award all together.

hes making a very strong case, but theres no way anyone should be upset if Trout wins the award.
