So who gets in and puts their entire season on the line with a single game?

Price vs JV? JV vs Weaver? Balt vs Oak in the WTF game of the century?

Texas and Detroit.
LAAA is not making up 9.5 games to win the division. :excited:
Agreed. Pretty sure the Angels are missing the playoffs. But they should be able to help the A's catch and pass Texas for the division! :banned: :excited:
Wager?
No freakin' way. My eternal sports optimism and my wallet are a terrible combination.
Tell you what, if Oakland passes Texas and wins the division, the next time you find yourself in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, steaks and drinks on me. You will have earned it. :banned: :banned:

Just a random comment, but I am a little surprised people seem to be making the assumption that the aces will be pitching. I would assume at least one of the WC teams will have to battle down to the wire to even get that spot. I doubt they will be sitting around lining up their rotations. I think it will be more like the normal game 163's we've seen with whatever SP happens to be lined up ready to go.This is what the pitching matchups looked like for the last 5 game 163's.2009: Porcello vs Baker2008: Danks vs Blackburn2007: Peavy vs Fogg (lol)1999: Leiter vs Parris (lol)1998: Trachsel vs Gardner

Very good point, and I agree. It will be really difficult to line up your ace to pitch that WC game if you are needing them every start possible just to get there.

Tampa has a 2.5 game lead right now and are getting hot. With Niemann coming back too, it gives them flexibility. Gotta figure if the Rays end up in that game, Price will be lined up to go.

3 teams tied for the second spot, LAA only 2.5 back and Seattle making some noise. Things are interesting.

Does anyone else feel a lil sad that qualifying for the playoffs is now "don't lose it" instead of " win it mother####er" ?

You have to worry about both directions though. If they get any hotter, they'll be pitching him trying to win the East right? If they slow down at all they'll likely need him to make the WC.So you basically need them eliminated from ALE and clinched WC at the same time for them to actually skip Price and line him up. I'm not sure when his normal schedule dictates he would pitch though.

A's have an absolutely brutal schedule to close out the season. 20 of the next 23 against teams fighting for a playoff spot (Mariners being the other). 12 on the road.

Yeah. I can't see the A's hanging on at this point. If they did it would be worth a Moneyball 2 - This time we actually did something.

I assume a two way tie means they have to play one game to get into the wild card game.

So a three way tie for the final wild card spot. What happens?

Is Tampa out of this now...

They do close with 3 against baltimore....

Yanks draw the Jays this weekend, they will have to do work with EE possibly out. Given that he's hit his 40th, I can see them sitting him down now.

1 seed would be a huge advantage I think.

NL is just amazing. I get the feeling we'll get one of those long dreamt about doomsdays of a 3 or 4 way tie!
