Alex Smith (1 Viewer)

Alex Smith has that "Garrard Factor" and I hope this board doesn't develop a chubby for Smith like they did for Garrard.

Just like Garrard, Smith will put up a few solid games, like 19-for-32, 245 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, & a few scrambles for 33 yds too. Then someone will post that he is "underrated" bc he averages 15.3 FP per start or something. I'm sure some FBG staffer will write an article citing Smith as one of the "10 Best Value Picks" bc he falls to the 12th round. Nah.

The bottom line, just like Garrard, is that Alex Smith is not really a factor in fantasy football. His NFL career isn't safe. His job will never be locked-throw-away-the-key because he mixes in a lot of 217-yard/1-TD/3-INT games. If you drafted him for "value" in the 11th round and stuck him in your lineup when your starter (Romo, Brady, etc) is idle, that's the week Smith will go 217/1/3. And you lose that week.

I want to rev up a QB Value Bandwagon on Stafford. At least we don't know if he sucks yet. Alex Smith sucks.

Actually, we still don't know if Alex Smith sucks or not. He's never had any continuity and he had a horrendous shoulder injury that cost him the better part of 2 years. We know that he has not been very good - he was legendarily bad, on a terrible team, in 2005. He started to make strides towards mediocrity towards the end of 2006. He was looking decent before his injury in 2007, then missed most of 2007 and all of 2008. He was hot and cold when he got to play last year, but he posted the best completion %, TD-INT ratio, and rating of his career by a fair amount. This year is the year for Smith. He has the same offense and the same coordinator for the first time in his career and finally has NFL-quality targets to throw to. If he can't succeed this year, you can say with confidence that he sucks and he will never amount to a starting-caliber QB.

I just wanted to post the 49ers schedule in here. There are several vulnerable defenses for San Francisco to exploit. I'm expecting some pretty great numbers for their offensive skill players in 2010.

The Rams in week 16 is nice as well. :lmao:

1 at Seattle Seahawks

2 New Orleans Saints

3 at Kansas City Chiefs

4 at Atlanta Falcons

5 Philadelphia Eagles

6 Oakland Raiders

8 Denver Broncos

Bye week

11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

12 at Arizona Cardinals

13 at Green Bay Packers
