Give him a break. He's new. It takes time to gain the message board acumen that you have gained in 3+ years. Do you expect him to be doing as well as you after only a few months? Most message board posters don't really come into form until their 3rd year.
as i said in the Branch officially out thread, "this is NEWS"Alexander wasnt officially declared OUT in the other thread, like he is now. This threead is more to talk about Maurice Morris and not Alexander speculation since he is now out. Sheesh, dont you have anything better to do than police the forums?Something wrong with the other Alexander thread talking about him being out? You know, the one that's been around for a few days? Why do people just make new threads every time they come up with a "scoop"?
Don't sweat it, man. You'll pick on the routes and plays soon enough. Just keep giving your best effort and feed us the information you believe is useful. People like Mad Sweeney will do their thing. You just gotta stiff arm them and keep on running.as i said in the Branch officially out thread, "this is NEWS"Alexander wasnt officially declared OUT in the other thread, like he is now. So I guess this wouldn't go in the Mo Morris Value? thread? Don't you have anything better to do than start up redundant threads without even glancing at other threads that already heve much of the info that you seek? If you look up the other threads, guess what... it's already been discussed and you'll learn more of the info you want. I mean, why post updates in a thread called "________ any updates?" Why not just start a new thread every time there's new news about players. That way we can have six SA threads on the front page and have to flip flop back and forth between them to discuss the angles.as i said in the Branch officially out thread, "this is NEWS"Alexander wasnt officially declared OUT in the other thread, like he is now. Why, because I didn't report the news first? I've never claimed to be the biggest baddest news scoop reporter on the board. But when I get any news, I look to see if there's a thread about it already instead of starting a new thread. That way there's a thread with 40+ replies instead of 3 or 4 threads with 10-12 replies.Wow Mad Sweeny...You're so on top of your game. Just wish we all could be like you. You must be a professional at this board. Give us time we'll watch and learn. Geez...but why didn't you scoop the story and put it where it should have gone. Then we all could have seen it at the top! Guess your not that good afterall!
How about trying this:Instead of punching him in the gut for doing something wrong, help educate him on a better way to do it. People are less likely to listen if you are beating them up in the process. So I guess this wouldn't go in the Mo Morris Value? thread? No offense, but don't you have anything better to do than to police the boards all day. I've read several threads today that have you in there blowing your police whistle again and again. This year has been really bad with injuries, and there are going to be duplicate threads sometimes. Moderators can merge the threads if they feel that is best. Chill out.So I guess this wouldn't go in the Mo Morris Value? thread? Don't you have anything better to do than start up redundant threads without even glancing at other threads that already heve much of the info that you seek?
Actually I don't really have that much else to do. Recovering from back surgery. And the mods have been extremely lax of late, being as how there were 2 or 3 SA threads and a MoMo thread all week before this "breaking news". Same with Branch, including the fact that he was ruled out last night, which thehornet also started a new thread on. Every week there are more and more redundant threads with any possible useful information and discussion dispersed throughtout several different threads. Then someone starts a new one and the old one slides off tpages 1 and 2 with all their good info while someone without the clue of checking for the info first asking for discussion on topics that have already been covered. Most people don't re-post all the discussion they've already had so you get the stragglers popping in with a few tidbits, which are mostly just rehashing the tip of the icebergs from the other threads which are lost. So you've got diluted threads on the front page with the threads containing really good posts slipping farther and farther all because someone wanted to start a whole new thread with an update instead of posting it in the updates for X player thread. If the mods were more active like they used to be this wouldn't be a problem. But it seems they gave up weeks ago.No offense, but don't you have anything better to do than to police the boards all day. Yeah, I'm sure people that are looking to find out if Branch or SA were playing would gloss right over the Branch/SA injury update threads...Last I'll say on this topic because my brain hurts from discussing such a silly thing:I would have put this in the Morris or Branch thread but I didnt want it to get lost. This way when people log into the Shark Pool, they see Branch Officially Out. Instead of a Branch Injury News thread. People may overlook the fact that Branch is actually not playing. Plus, in this thread we can talk about, Hackett, Engram, Burleson and Hasselbeck as more of a focus.
I never said the mods sucked, just that they were dropping the ball. I have repeatedly stood up for the FBG staff when people really call them out. I'm entitled to my opinion about the job they're doing and in no way did I say that they sucked. But since there are 3 SA and a MoMo threads on the first page and I believe 2 Branch pages, the proof as they say, is in the pudding that the mods have let their involvement in the SP slip.I would actually like to thank the OP for starting a new thread. I didn't have to waste my time looking in a 3 page threads of people #####ing to get what I needed. I just had to read the Title and then read through 1 page of someone not only calling out the OP but the MOds for sucking as well.
I agree with this. Sometimes threads get outdated and it becomes too hard to get info out of them. A classic example is the Brandon Jacobs runs a 4.4 thread. I have Jacobs on all 3 of my teams this year, and I haven't opened up that thread for weeks. I don't have time to sort through 14 pages of a thread that was started last July, yet it is still on the first page. I know I can click the corner to take me to where I left off, but I chose not to because i am done with that thread. If someone has updated info, I would prefer them to start a new thread. (** I know this is a SA, Mo Mo thread, just using the Jacobs thread as an example. I'm not looking for Jacobs news here**)With all that being said, I also agree with Mad Sweeny to some extent. There are a lot of redundant threads on this board and it does make it harder to gather information. There is definately a fine line as to whether a topic should be posted in an existing thread or a new thread. I for one don't have time to police the boards (nor do I want to), so I will let the mods decide if threads should be merged. All we can ask (politely I might add) is for people to use their best judgement as to whether a new thread should be posted or put the info in an existing thread. If someone doesn't think the poster chose correctly then either tell them politely or ignore it and bump the other thread if you think you must.To the OP: I agree with you that since you were trying to generate Mo Mo discussion that this probably deserved it's own thread. However, you could have been more clear in the title that thta is how you wanted the discussion to go.I would actually like to thank the OP for starting a new thread. Point taken, but what page was that thread on at 8 AM this morning when the OP posted this one? Nobody had posted in it since Saturday, so I guess the thread was a few pages back. I know that he could have used the search function, but I don't think it was that big of a deal to start a new thread.Mo Morris any value?I agree with this. The irony here is not only that you are claiming to defend the mods while at the same time accusing them of dropping the ball; but that if and when JB stops by this thread to see why all the fuss, he will state, once again, that posts like the OP made are perfectly valid. Joe has always stated that when news breaks like this it is worthy of a new thread, for the reasons listed by other posters in this thread. What makes these threads useless is all the bickering back and forth.I for one think MoMo will preform quite well tonight, given the weather and his increased roll. If the wind and rain play any factor at all it will likely increase the number of shorter, quick striking passes and screens. That, coupled with the fact that he will be carrying the load running the ball should lead to a very productive night for Mr. Morris. Easily over 100 yards combined and a touch, maybe two.I never said the mods sucked, just that they were dropping the ball. I have repeatedly stood up for the FBG staff when people really call them out. I'm entitled to my opinion about the job they're doing and in no way did I say that they sucked. Defending someone and pointing out obvious flaws are not mutually exclusive. Saying that they are dropping the ball on redundant threads does not equal me saying they suck. The OP started a new thread on Branch this morning too, despite a front page Branch thread that was actually updated last night to include the fact that he was out for tonight. I don't see what being a Seahawks fan has to do with my "anger" over redundant threads. I'll admit I came off harder than was probably necessary or even intially intended. I wrote it before my coffee and vicodin. For that I apologize. But I still don't see the point of starting a new thread when there are already 2 or 3 about the topic that can be found with 10 seconds of research.I'm just trying to narrow down who he is and why he is so angry. That obvious, eh?mad sweeney are you a seahwaks fan?
not true, but whatever.Hackett and Engram should be nice tonight. I see 6-8 receptions out of both with Hackett getting a score. :fingerscrossed:Defending someone and pointing out obvious flaws are not mutually exclusive. I just don't see the point of having an X player update thread if there's going to be a new thread whenever there's an update, especially when the new thread is askng for info and discussion that's already been discussed.
Yes. There is no problem with starting a new thread when something significant breaks in the story. Many people don't want to wade through 3 pages of posts to get to the pertinent info that he's out.Jas i said in the Branch officially out thread, "this is NEWS"Alexander wasnt officially declared OUT in the other thread, like he is now.
No offense Joe, but there are now 3 SA threads on page 1 with the same info (reported last night) and different discussions, 1 MoMo thread and 2 Branch threads. What's the difference between weaving and wading through 5 or 6 threads for info and redundant discussion vs wading through a thread that already has the info, discussion as well as tags and white corners for those following the situation? What's the point of having an injury update thread when there's a new thread whenever there's an injury update?Yes. I meant what I said about when something significant breaks like this, it can have it's own thread.
