All aboard the CHRIS PERRY BANDWAGON! (1 Viewer)

Love Perry, but right now I don't know how much value he holds (as oppposed to a few weeks ago). My friend had a few drafts this weekend and he was going way too early for my liking. As high as 6th round. Too bad.

Got him on the cheapest of cheap in a startup dynasty auction draft with my very last pick. I was holding money in reserve in case anyone was able to fight me for him, but the rudi/watson owner took Ben Obamanu with his last pick leaving me free and clear to take Perry.

can anyone give an idea of where perry has been going in drafts recently? i like him but i do not want to be laughed at if i take him in the fifth or sixth round? is sixth round a reach? i would think not. fifth round his ceiling and i dunno, eight round his floor?
10.11 12 teamer
This is exactly the pick I took him with in a 12 team start up dynasty draft.

I like the idea of Perry, but he looked pretty blah yesterday against the Saints none too stiff defense.

It's tough to say with the Bengals because CJ and Housh are both out, but that offense looked very stale. Not loving the Bengals this year. And that gives me pause with Perry.

If he's the starting RB on an NFL team, who figures to be both that team's goalline option (assuming Rudi continues to struggle with injuries) and a factor in the passing game, I don't see many reservations to have about drafting this guy. I've already said in this thread I woudn't want him to be my RB1, but beyond that how concerned can you be? Are people that impressed with Kenny Watson that he's going to threaten to run away with that job from Perry?

 Can be drafted as a RB4/5 with RB2 upside (PPR).

How does he stack up against the rookies in a dynasty rookie/fa draft? He is available in my ten team league (non ppr). Does he fall outside all of the top 6-7 backs but before the wr's?

I got him at 17.11 in a redraft yesterday but there were a number of new players in that (free) league.

For people talking about Perry's performance against the Saints (which was not bad, he just didnt break off any big plays) I think you should recognize that the Saints have added a lot of quality players to their defense during the offseason and the draft. Add these players to an allready above average defensive line and another year of experience in the scheme for the returning players and what you have is a significantly improved defense.

So I wouldn't knock Perry for what he did against them, just as I will not be considering the Saints a favorable matchup for any offensive players I have going against them during the regular season.

I got him in the fifth round of my rookie/fa draft last saturday. Lots of magazine/last minute drafters in that league tough, bout 50/50. I had him ranked right after slaton in spot 10 myself.

Been on the Perry wagonfor 2 years now. I jumped off early in the offseason, and Im not jumping back on. Its just gonna break down again. I give it 2 weeks tops (after the reg season starts).

With CJ and Housh out, the Saints could easily focus on stacking the box. I caught some of the game and a few of Perry's runs looked nice, even if they were for 5 yards or less.

Speculation for Mort and RotoWire:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Monday night that the Bengals are shopping Rudi Johnson. Just like the Seahawks once wanted to deal Shaun Alexander, the Raiders wanted to deal LaMont Jordan, and the Steelers wanted to deal Najeh Davenport. It will never happen, and the rumor calls into question whether Rudi will even make the team. He may not react kindly to this news and they sound ready to move on. Rudi's been a huge part of their organization, but good for them. Stay far, far away from Johnson in drafts this week. (And bump Chris Perry and Kenny Watson further up your boards.)

Perry's stat line for the day: 18 carries, 37 yards, no TD's, 1 fumble

All aboard!!! Chugga-Chugga Chugga-Chugga, Choo Choo!!!

That was ugly. Was that Perry playing like crap or the Balt D playing well? I expected more out of the Cinci O. It just looked ugly for the Cincy O all the way around...

Look at Palmer's stat line and I think you can figure it out. The Cincy O Line was bad. Real bad.

Now is the time to trade for him.

The key thing a shark was looking for was is Watson would steal carries. He didn't. He had a tough game where his QB struggled and he played against a very good D. My main fear with him is if he would give up a lot of carries to someone else.

The shark move is to buy low. (or you can wait until after he plays TN next week and pick him up off of waivers.

Agree - anyone can say doomsday thoughts, but my feeling (without being able to watch where I am) is that Baltimore will be a top defense (especially against the run) again, which shouldn't be a huge shock. They were the #3 defense against the run last year. No one should have expected much. I'm MUCH more shocked about how Palmer and the WRs did against last year's 27th ranked defense against WRs and 22nd against QBs...

I don't think enough was shown regarding the distribution b/w Perry and Watson just yet. While it's true that Perry had 18 carries to Watson's 3 a look at the drive chart explains why this might not be a totally done deal just yet:

RB29 in PPR after the first three weeks with no help from his offense, and trending upward.

The train is off to a slow start, but it is gathering speed.

Was on the wagon earlier, but jumped off after week 1. He was still sitting out there this week so I dropped Kevin Smith and grabbed him in a ppr redraft. Looks like the Cincy offense might have found their legs and the defense will keep them having to throw it. And from what I've seen, Perry is a pretty nice option out of the backfield.

any idea what his value is in a redraft or dynasty?

I have him in a redraft, trying to get a WR for him (Cotchery, Edwards, or Holmes perhaps)

I was offered him in a dynasty for a decent 1st I had acquired during last draft.

On one hand I don't know that I want to give a good pick, but on the other, I'm thinking he should be worth more than a good WR.

I just am not sure what to think on this one right now.

Been trying to trade him in a 12-team redraft non-ppr. Couldn't deal him for Warner (other guy also has Manning and needed an RB) or for Braylon. I think the Bengals' performance has been driving down his value - we aren't getting Cincy games out herein California, so it isn't easy to see how Perry is doing compared to his team. The Warner owner used the Bengals' performances as one of his reasons for turning down the deal.

I'm probably going to roll with him over Westbrook depending on injury status. I think he's faces some pretty good teams and is just getting to a game in which he can shine.

In the first 3 weeks he faced 3 top-10 rushing defenses, 2 of them on the road. This week he's facing the #25 rushing defense at home and the Cincy offense looks like it might start clicking.Forget Chris Perry, Steve Perry could probably go for 80 combined yards and a TD against Cleveland.

I'm going to have to jump off of here. I was firmly on through all the injuries the past 2-3 years and thought he'd eventaully get the shot to replace Rudi through it all.

The guy I've seen the first 4 games isn't remotely close to the guy we saw 2-3 years ago. Which is to be expected -- but he isn't even close to the same guy. Gone is the burst that had everyone excited with the thought he could take it to the house on any touch. I'm not the biggest Rudi fan (and I don't know how much -- if any -- better he'd fare) by any means, but I expected more as far as on-field ability from the guy that replaced him.

Maybe he'll knock off the rust (I'm not one that thinks he will. I think it's a result of not playing for 2+ years and I don't think you just get that back), but his career trend and play is similar to Kevan Barlow. He excited you as an explosive part-time player that would hit the holes quickly and authority but for some reason or another (injuries/commitment) end up as disappointments as 'the guy'.

I think they ought to put in Dede Dorsey in (depending on the severity of his hamstring issues) more frequently as a change of pace guy -- because at this point, he's far more explosive than Perry.

If Carson's gone for a significant period of time, Perry's prospects even look that much worse. I'd sell Perry (if you still can) as a guy 'that's getting all the carries in Cincy".

I have to agree. Perry has looked slow to me. I have him as my #2 RB after the Rudi debacle and Young as my #3 doesn't exactly excite me, so I have to keep playing him. However, I'm not optimistic at this point. My only hope is that he will improve over time and that their schedule also softens over time...somewhat.
