All-American Football League (1 Viewer)

Travis Dorsch- Bengals, can punt and kick, was shocked he never really made an NFL team
I think he played about two years of pro ball. For the Bengals, I think. He is one of those kickers who earned all of his school's scoring records (Purdue) and had a solid overall field goal completion percentage but was derided by fans for missing the big kicks. My wife's family are huge Purdue fans (but I am a UM alum), so I watched a lot of Purdue games. I thought he was a big choker, myself. I watched him flub a key kick at the first Rose Bowl I ever attended. Brees had a shot to bring the Boilers back against the Huskies and Dorsch missed the kick that would have brought his team within one score. I left thinking that was pretty typical for Dorsch. But, it stank that Brees didn't get a crack at the game-winning drive scenario.None of this really makes him any different than most other college kickers. College kicking game is a lot dicier than most of us perceive anyhow.

The entire league seems to be very unprofessional. I can't find much information. Everything looks amateurish:

1. No team names? Logos? Will they not have them or just not telling anyone yet? League only starts in less than 3 months.

2. Ugly uniforms. And it looks like each team will have the full state name and shape on its helmet. :X

3. Terrible web site. Nothing really under the links and the home page is sooooooooooooooooooooo long. Each team doesn't even have its own site. Draft results are in PDF format?? ugh. My high school has a better website than this.

4. Terrible markets. Nothing against these locations but only one team from the midwest? None from east or west coast? Who are the bad guys i'm supposed to be cheering against? Were they trying to keep travel costs down?

5. No TV? I can't find any info on that. How am i supposed to follow this league? Even the XFL had its marketin strategy.

I an keep going but I won't.

Also saw this:

During its initial season, most players will be paid $5,000 per game plus benefits. Six players on each team will be designated as franchise players, who will be eligible for an additional $50,000 per year.

Why should i be interested in this? If this is the way things are going to be, this league will cease operations halfway into the season.

I'd rather see a league that had NO age requirement, so kids who want to play football as a career can go and play and get PAID (as they should) and keep them out of college where they don't belong. Do away with the fake "I'm in college to learn and not to try out for the NFL for two or three years" fiasco.

Doubt I will watch a bunch of guys who are basically not good enough for the NFL, but I would definitely watch ultra-talented young guys who may or may not have a future in the NFL and who feel like they should be paid for their skills instead of the schools.

Sounds interesting. If I win the lottery, I might apply to start a team.

Otherwise, Michigan or Tennesee. Probably Tennesee.

Anyone know if Vegas has action?

I don't see anyone beating the Florida teams if they are going for Canes',Knoles and Gators.

VERY interesting to see the NFL Officials partnering, could this be a small glimps of why NFL Europa was shut down?

So much for that idea.

All-American Football League might scrap season for lack of funds

ESPN.com news services

ATLANTA -- On the 25th anniversary of the USFL's first game, another upstart professional football league is facing an uncertain future.

The new All American Football League will have to postpone its 2008 season unless it finds additional financial backing.

Its a shame...I was really looking forward to it starting, sounded like a neat idea.
