ALL-STAR GAME thread ... in-game analysis/discussion (1 Viewer)

Someone PLEASE talk me out of betting everything I own on the under 8½.

The pitching on both sides is amazing.

Don't do it, it's going to be 2-1 going to the 9th and we'll end this thing 5-4 SOMEBODY, the relievers stink. The worst kind of loss.
If the final score is 5 to 4, then I think that means another year of home field advantage for the AL. I don't see the NL scoring 5 runs.

AL pitching is spotty though. I do think the AL will end up eeking it out. I'm seeing2-1 NL into the 9th, they put up 2 runs on Soriano or Phil Hughes and the AL scores 4 in the bottom 9 to win it. A-Rod walk off, MVP for Steinbrenner.

Yeah... problem is, good pitching usually beats good hitting. Should be interesting.
Yes, but none of those good NL pitchers faces lineups like this, we shall see.

Hell 6-9 is Murders Row.

Cano/Crawford 8-9 is just plain ridiculous

I'm hoping they'll hang a couple on Ubaldo with some recent struggles, I don't think they'll get to Doc or Josh Johnson

Interested to see how Price responds to being in the spotlight. He's obviously done it before, but not quite like this. He gets psyched...sometimes too psyched and you can get to him early. His fastball was dominant early last start.

Joe Buck's hair plugs are out of control, especially considering they showed him in 1996 as compared to today. He's got Jeremy Piven disease where you apparently GROW hair.

2008 ALCS down?

HATE Joe Buck. He was about 10 rows behind me at the Pearl Jam show in St Louis, MO. After the show I strolled up to his seat where he was sitting with a pompous, smug-### grin waiting on people to recognize him and come feed his ego. The exchange went something like this:ME: Hey Joe (offer hand)JOE: Hi there! (shakes hand)ME: I don't know how you do it, but you actually make Tim McCarver look like a good announcer. JOE: :kicksrock: ME: Please get off your dad's coattails and retireJOE: (uncomfortable smile - turns to look for his buddy who was now about 5 seats down talking to some other people)

That's what I was referring to about being there and this being different. Just thought with the long wait knowing he was starting in this spotlight was going to be new...thought he might be too pumped.Nevermind.

I can't stand Joe Buck, but pretty sure you were the ##### there. Congratulations, you made Joe Buck look good.

Wow, hope you're kidding. You come off like a major doosh here.

WTF is wrong with you?

Don't care that I came off as a #####. Have a strong dislike for Buck and never figured I'd have the chance to speak my mind to him. Amused me which is, frankly, all that mattered to me at the time :lmao:

I liked the comment about how Price throws a "light" 98 MPH fastball and Jimenez throws a "hard" 98 MPH fastball. Npretty sure 98 is 98. When Price's 100 MPH fastball flashed by in the first inning, I doubt Prado thought it was "light."

I know it sounds weird but Jiminez's fastball rides in like a sinker hence the heavy and Price's whips across the plate hence the light.

What amazes me, is that these guys are throwing 98-99 mph, and they still have to change things up just to keep major league hitters off balance.
