Alterraun Verner CB Titans (1 Viewer)

Hi there.

I got myself Alterraun Verner last year in a dynasty league, mostly since he was a rookie starting on the opposite side of Finnegan.

That worked out great.

This year I'm starting to get worried though. After watching the first preseason game I could see that Jason Mccourty got the start instead of Verner and

Verner only came in on nickel/dime / multiple wr set situations. Finnegan would move in to the slot and Verner took his place on the outside.

Now.. Was this a fluke ( I think not) or is this the new coaching staffs starting lineup..???

Any insights.?

Its no fluke, Verner and McCourty competed for the starting position last year and that's what's happening this year. You'll have to let things play out for now...or go in another direction. The next two preseason games should give us some clarity.

bYes. I know it was like that last year, actually McCourty led the race when he broke his arm. To bad I have my cut coming up before the next preseason game . :-(

that's not true. McCourty got burned deep every time last year. He looked good but only to a point.Verner has an extremely unusual ability to get his hands on the ball. I think he's a great dynasty stash because if he develops, he's going to get plenty of points making plays. He has to cover better though. The Titans have excellent safeties that have each made the pro bowl. They had a terrible corner playing opposite Finnegan and the safeties were always compensating for that and for poor LB play as well. Last year, the bottom broke and they just couldn't overcome everything in front of them. This was the common notion, yet some believed they too were playing poorly in 2010. Babineaux was signed and this is pretty key. Munchak insists on results and nothing else. He's flat out sick of excuses and I'm pretty sure every Titan fan wants to know how he'll deal with this. It seems he doesn't want anyone compensating/scheming to overcome anything but wants players to step up already. Great! Can it happen though? If it's the safeties, he's got Babineaux around just in case. I believe Griffin got burned the other night when Finnegan passed a WR off to him. After his rookie year, he made the pro bowl twice and played as an alternate. He's never missed a game and has even played some CB. I think that was an oops and those happen in preseason. Rambling....the Titans plan to have their CBs actually play like normal NFL CBs and their Safeties play like normal NFL Ss so Verner should improve. My gut says Griffin and/or Hope get way too many tackles and Munchak wishes he could cut every CB by November. They are a very frustrating group.
