I was thinking that for good or for ill, Vick is their offense. If it came down before he signed the K, I would have backed out if I were him. That whole fiasco has just killed ATL this season. The way it stands now, Vick has played his last NFL game and ATL will be scrambling for years to recover from it.Edit to say: That little boy's gotta think "You got a pet. You got a responsibility." It's a job. There's nothing wrong with bailing on one job for another. This is one of the things that I completely agree with TMQ on. When teams hire coaches that are more than willing to bail on their current contracts, they shouldn't be at all surprised when that same coach bails on them when things don't look so great.
Hopefully guys like Saban and Petrino decided that they want no part of the NFL because I seriously doubt either one of them would be given a second chance. But I'm sure that there are still stupid NFL GMs and owners out there that will continue to hire major college coaches away from their current contracts and end up getting burned.
And yeah, I know, Michael Vick, blah blah blah. Whatever. He would have basically had his pick of QBs in the draft this year that he could mold however he wanted. The team has some talent. They shouldn't be THAT far off with the right pieces. I just don't think that he had the chops to be a legit NFL coach and he bailed when a decent college opportunity opened up. Total lack of class by a total loser. Even worse than Saban IMO.

Did you guys watch the Monday night football game? Did you see the shameless, embarassing display put on by the Falsons players? Do you think any of the players respect Bobby Petrino is they are going to put on a display like that? There were already loud whispers and glaring examples of how the veterans did not respect him in the locker room, the Grady Jackson thing, the DeAngelo Hall thing, etc. Honestly, I think the BS display that was on Monday Night football was the straw that broke the camel's back. If I was Petrino, I would have told them all to go #### themselves, too.
By the way, I do not root for either the Falcons or Arkansas.

Who created all of those situations? The common denominator seems to be Petrino. Within the past month, Petrino told Blank that he was not involved with any talks with college teams and had no intention of leaving Atlanta.
