Am I crazy? (1 Viewer)

Given GB's struggles in the secondary (I believe Woodson may be out this week), Joey may be a sneaky play this week. He's going against the worst pass D in the league, and it could end up being a shootout against Favre. He's on waiver wires, I'm sure, and with byes coming into play he seems like a solid option.

Thoughts?

I'm starting him over Charlie Frye in a start 2 qb league. Considering how well the Denver D is playing, I don't think that's too crazy.

As a Lions fan, if you can believe it, Harrington is terrible.

Now, I can't speak for him gaining skills and confidence moving forward.

I would say, yes, you're crazy

No, you're not crazy. I'm starting him this week over Vick.

Miami @ home vs the worst pass DEF in the league?

Yeah, he's a lock for 250 and 2 I think.

starting Harrington over Leftwich unless there is more reassuring news about his ankle... :bag:

There was another Harrington thread which basically asked the same question and my answer remains the same: No you're not crazy.

Yes he's Joey Harrington and yes we've all seen him fall completely on his face in the easiest of matchups. But if you're looking at this from a matchup perspective there isn't a QB in the league who has a better one this week. Not only is Green Bay dead last in pass defense but Woodson is hurting and may not play today which weakens an already weak secondary. Even if he does play, he isn't 100% so there are going to be some issues there. Every QB who has faced the Packers has thrown for at least 220 yards and every QB who has faced the Packers has thrown at least 1 TD and all of them except Grossman have thrown 2 (McNabb accounted for 4 total TDs in that game).

So again, from a matchup perspective I don't think there's a better matchup for an opposing QB than the one Harrington has today. He's also at home which should help. Not that Lambeau is a tough place to play anymore but playing at home is at least another plus in Harrington's favor.

Harrington still has to play the game and he obviously could fall on his face today. There's risk involved but honestly this matchup is so good and so heavy in Harrington's favor it's pretty hard for me to imagine him not being able to put up good numbers today. The only issue I would add is for leagues that penalize TOs, maybe he gets picked a couple of times so that could influence your decision. But overall I think he's a pretty good bet for at least 230 yards passing and 2-3 TDs today. The Packers have yet to provide any sign that they can stop an opposing passing game. I see no reason to believe they'll suddenly show a sign today.

The announcers said it was Harrington. NFL.com says it was Harrington now too. Not sure why there was a mixup

And yet, his team still lost the game...same old Joey.Works for Fantasy leagues though...
yeah but 3 weeks of "is that Joey?" is a dramatic improvement. As I've said a few times, it's as if Detroit didn't happen and he's the rook high draft pick again. Did you think he'd be a good one coming out of college? He looks like that again. Saban's got something to work with and I'm surprised. I thought he was done. Instead he kept his head and confidence and genuinely started anew in Miami. Also, again, ya gotta see him play now to truly understand. He looks different

I think Joey's terribleness is good for fantasy owners.

Had he not gift-wrapped those 3 INTs, he'd have never had a shot at 62 pass attempts?

Only 1 of the INTs was definitely Harrington's fault. McMichael let the second one go right off his hands and the third one was tipped as well (that was a tougher catch but it could be argued it should have been made). Harrington probably could've thrown for 500 yards today if the Dolphins had caught most of the balls they dropped. There had to be at least 6-7 drops and maybe more and a number of them came on what would have been big gains downfield. But once again, the Packers' pass defense proves to be very generous against opposing QBs.
