Amazon Prime (1 Viewer)

Maybe I'm a little slow, but when did Prime members start getting offers for 5-day shipping w/ $1 credit in electronic downloads? I considered it today on two orders but didn't want to push it getting the items in time to be wrapped for Christmas.
They do that around the holidays.

Probably close to a year I've been seeing it

I think some folks need to look up the definition of the word "guarantee". Amazon explicitly says "guaranteed for delivery by XXXX" on the checkout page. If you're going to charge people for a service where you guarantee delivery by a certain date, than you damn well need to deliver by that date.

Sure, usually it doesn't matter, but a fair amount of the time it does. I procrastinate on ordering stuff. That's why I pay for prime, so I can do that. Because they guarantee that it will be ok as long as I order by this date.

The really frustrating thing is when it happens on one-day orders because obviously anyone paying extra to get something shipped next day really really needs it on that date. Yet all I've ever been offered when they missed that date (and they only started missing it within the last 6 months or so) is a refund on the one day shipping charge. As if that does any good. Usually not getting it in time means I have to go out and buy the item locally for double the price, which costs a lot more than the $3.99 shipping refund.

Here's an example. The first time they missed a delivery for me.

Last year I bought kayaks for my wife's birthday, because she eats that #### up. They were due in at Sports Authority on a Wednesday, and I'd planned a kayaking trip out of town that we would leave for on Friday morning.

I went to SA on Wednesday to pick up the kayaks, and realized they didn't come with paddles. Wtf, every kayak I've ever seen has come with a paddle. Whatever, I'll just buy a coup......wait, the cheapest paddle you guys have is $100?? Are you serious?

No worries, I just pull out my phone and see that Amazon has basically the same paddle for $47.99. Place 2 in cart, pay $7.98 for next day shipping, man I love Prime.

On Thursday, I happen to look at my tracking number and estimated delivery is now showing Friday. We're supposed to leave at 8am on Friday and packages usually aren't delivered to my house until the evening. I phone up Amazon, blah blah we're sorry we'll refund the $7.98 shipping. Yea, that was nice, put a real good dent in the $104+tax extra I had to spend to go buy the paddles at SA's jacked up prices so we'd have them for the trip.

Wife ordered over 1500.00 worth of stuff last Christmas from Amazon. We were never billed nor received any kind of statement on our CC. Now she won`t order anything because she thinks it will trigger the old bill. Who should I call so we can square this up?

I've done 75% of my Christmas shopping at Amazon this year. Most of the orders I took the slower option for the $1 kindle/movie/music credit. Cleaned up by ordering things separately

Don't ask , don't tell

I agree with your "that's why I pay for Prime." In fact a large majority of the time when I'm searching, I click on the Prime only filter, which I'm sure is something Amazon likes.

I'd say Amazon or your credit card company. But that's just a shot in the dark.

To be clear, if you actually pay for shipping for next day or 2 day on that item, then OK. You have beef if its late. But those that complain about Prime two day shipping coming slightly late are whiners.

I am going to give it another year because I don`t want to pressure them...they are probably just a little back logged.

So how late is ok, and how many times, is legit then?

Listen, if the service is too hard to offer, then don't offer it. Simple.

If prime turns into "2-3 days", then I'm not interested in it anymore. 3 days just isn't that special - not enough to keep me paying. I'll just pay individually when I really need something fast (which isn't very often), and be happy with the normal free shipping on the rest. But then I probably won't use Amazon as much either. It's "2 days with prime" that sometimes keeps me from going to the store. I figure "I'll wait two days for that drill" and skip the trip to Lowes. I'm sure I'm not alone there - I've read that Prime members are very important to Amazon, as they spend waaaay more than everyone else.

:lmao: I paid for Prime.
$100 for a streaming video service that happens to give free two day shipping. How many things have you ordered this year? 3? 4? Guess what, you still made out and got free movies, music and TV shows. Boo freaking hoo.

i actually like it when they deliver late, pretty much get an extra month of prime whenever they miss the date.

I do feel a bit sleazy to complain every time since i really don't care at all about getting a package one day late but whatever, they are the ones who make the promise. If they can't meet the date then don't promise it.

She probably opened an Amazon credit card at the time to get $30 off or whatever, and then just forgot. I wonder how much that $1500 order costs with a year's worth of late fees and credit card interest tacked on.

For real, can't you look in your order history and see the billing/payment method?

and if you never cared about or wanted that stuff?

I'm going to guess most folks signed up for Prime for "free two day shipping". Why is it too much to ask that they honor that?

"If you paid for expedited shipping you have a right to complain"

Yea but I paid for prime, which in and of itself is expedited shipping. It's part of what they offer you to sign up.

"No no no not THAT expedited shipping"

It sounds like he wants his music and movies, and will be angry if us whiny "2 day shipping people" mess that up for him.

Wait we get music and movies with Prime?
Didn't you hear, that's what Prime is. Oh and something about shipping is including in there too, but no one ever signs up for that even though it existed for like 3 years before the music and movies were even offered.

Can anyone tell me how to access the $1 credits for choosing longer shipping! I have ordered movies from Amazon instant video and they're not there for selecting. Too lazy to call them.

Credit is supposed to automatically apply when you order a qualifying movie or whatever.

You're right, but everytime I hear someone throw the word guarantee around, I think of this #####.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWHHQ3Rz534

This is where I am, too.

I don't blame guys for being upset if a decent % of their deliveries come later than guaranteed. But in my last 100 or so orders, it's only happened to me two or three times. I know what you mean - I feel a little dirty asking for the free month of prime when it wasn't a big deal anyway, but thems the rules they set up. Actually, one thing I really wish they'd do is automatically give you the credit instead of making you ask for it. Otherwise, I love the Prime.

The best is not even having to think about shipping costs. The video and music services are just gravy.

I didn't know about music until now -- either the Pandora-like channels or the library of past CD purchases. Pretty cool.

I order a ton of stuff from Amazon. Not being able to drive, Amazon cuts down significantly on the number of errands that we need to run on the weekends, or if I need something during the week. That is a major reason why I use Prime. If I order something today, I'll get it before the weekend. That is 2 day shipping, and that is why 99% of the time I search for stuff via Prime on Amazon.

Prime movies is great for kids. They have a good selection. I consider it a bonus to the shipping.

I just ordered three items at 4:15 PM on Friday, local time.

For one item, the guaranteed delivery date is Sunday, 12/21. Awesome.

For the other two items, the estimated (not guaranteed) delivery date is Wednesday, 12/24. How is from Friday to Wednesday two days? Even two business days would be Tuesday, no? So for my two-day shipping, they're estimating five days, which is three business days, and not guaranteeing even that?

I ordered something Wednesday night. Still hasn't shipped and says delivery estimate is Tuesday. It didn't say anything about a shipping delay when I ordered it.

Did you order 2 day or Super Saver/Prime No Rush?
It says 2 day. It was something that was OOS and then came back in stock. Said they had 12 available so I ordered. Maybe that's what caused the delay. It's preparing to ship now. I've had things miss the guaranteed date before but I've never had anything take this long to ship.

Not THAT Michelle Leslie Brown from 225th street that play ball in the park; the OTHER Michelle Leslie Brown.

Amazons Late Shipment Agreement

Amazon's Guaranteed Accelerated Delivery, where it says (in large print, ironically) that you may be eligible for a free one-month extension of Amazon Prime if your delivery date is not met. If Amazon is late with a package this holiday season -- or at any point during the year -- contact customer support and request an extension. If you have a free Prime trial, you can get one such extension, while paying Prime members can get up to 12 per year

Update for people sitting on the edge of their seats: everything has shipped and is due to arrive Monday.

Got this today but now I have another one past it's delivery date. I guess that's what I get for choosing no rush shipping. Ordered on the 11th. Still not here.
