I heard that a jailbroken fire stick is $$.
What does a jailbroken firestick allow you to do? Is it easy to do?
:goodposting:
I have been told it allows you to do much more then you could otherwise. More access.
From what I've been reading, the main app to root it for (jailbreak is a apple specific term :nerd: ), Kodi, can been sideloaded or something. Let's you have access to live sports/ live TV streams.
And tons and tons of tv episodes and movies that may or may not be pirated.
instructions on how to do this?

What's the difference between that and using chromecast to cast a livestream from a laptop using Chrome browser?
No laptop :dunno:

I bought a firestick that I should get next week at latest (was on backorder apparently)... will document the Kodi saga here if none else does first.

Not sure how up to date this is... but just start with a google search

We've had some really in-depth dialog on the Amazon Fire TV/Fire Stick side-loaded with Kodi within the We've Cut the Cable thread here: https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/586089-weve-cut-the-cable/page-51

I use it and to sum it up, it's what you're doing with a laptop and Chromecast but without the laptop middleman, basically a pseudo-computer environment. It can be frustrating, as it's effectively using custom developed programs coded to the Kodi environment to re-purpose internet streams of movies, TV shows, etc. so you are very dependent on the development community to keep things going smoothly. I have gotten frustrated with it many times, and have a high threshold/tolerance for things not working and technology in general so it's not "1-2-3 you're done." With all of those disclaimers out of the way, if you plan to cut the cord, it's 100% worthy an investment of your time to read up on it and try to implement it in your home. I'm running in parallel with traditional basic cable right now, and getting ready to snip the cord (I found a closed community that re-broadcasts sports streams and select TV channels for about $10 a month on private servers similar to frontrowsports, etc. streaming sites on your computer). Like I said though, that works for me personally and would not recommend for everyone as a blanket statement. Lots of great stuff in the thread, though.

You going to use it for reading books or as a tablet? There's your answer.
Just reading. I am talking about two different readers. The regular and paperwhite.
The regular Kindle is just a cheap tablet. Like reading off an iPad. That's what I have. The Paperwhite is a superior reading experience. Go with that if you're getting it strictly for reading.
The kindle fire is like a table. The regular Kindle is a reader that has the "E ink".

I'm sure the paperwhite is better, just curious if it is twice as much better.
No comparison imo. Get the paperwhite.

anyone else having a weird issue with Prime shipping options today?

I tried to order some toys for a charity collection thing at work. They're all marked prime, ship from/sold by amazon and are all in stock. But it doesn't recognize the free 2 day shipping and keeps trying to charge me. Guessing its just a glitch but its quite annoying.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be sticking with Chromecast then. It's been working well enough for my needs.

Me too actually. I cancelled my Fire stick order when I saw the deal in that thread about getting a Fire TV for $25 with that subscription deal... but then I realized I've already have all those channels and I was just chasing deals for something to play with. Chromecast is pretty crappy for me and I think Fire stick will be better but between my "smart" TV, PS4 and laptop and cable I'm really covered, I just wanted something new to tinker with.

Used Amazon Prime Now last night. One hour delivery for $12.95 or free delivery if you schedule for 2- 3 hours (which we used). Shows location of driver along route.

Had the same issue last night. After switching back and forth from Free Std and one day to Free Two day it finally gave me Two Day for free.

I twice tried to place a 12.95 prime order last night. The first time it attempted to charge me 19.50 for 2-day shipping, despite it recognizing my prime status. Deleted it and re-ordered, the second time it tacked on a 9.95 shipping charge. I checked orders from earlier in the day and none were affected.

I had issues with prime as well. I kept trying to select the option to give me prime pantry credit but it wouldn't let me I must have 50 bucks saved up of credit for prime pantry already

So Amazon or their sellers do this?

Give out free stuff just for people to review?

The makers of the product. And the idea that people aren't biased by receiving something for free is a joke. If I spend $25 of my own money and the product has some flaws I won't be too thrilled. But if I get something for free, who cares if it has a few minor flaws, it was free!

Both. Amazon has a program called Vine and sellers do it to try and increase sales on their listings. Amazon is taking steps to stop this though.

Had the same issue, I switched to same product from a different vendor for an extra 0.10 and it "fixed" the problem, hasn't shown up since

How do you complain about late delivery for orders. I received something late and want to see if I can get an extra month of prime free.

They don't exactly make it easy to find. Someone suggested I call a customer service, but come on...I'm a PRIME member!

Did my first Prime Now delivery today. Picked up a k'nex roller coaster set for my kid's bday tomorrow (cheaper and didn't feel like going to walmart) and while I was at it I had them deliver some tortilla chips and a jar of queso. Two hours later its at my door. So awesome.

Google Amazon Customer Service and call the #.

I've done this each time with late delivery and gotten extra month of prime no questions asked (believe you're limited to 12 extensions/yr). I would check your current end date now......then a couple days from now to make sure they did infact extend it.

I've used the email option and explained why the item was time sensitive and why the late delivery did not allow us to use it for its intended purpose. Both times they refunded the cost and allowed us to keep the item (combined cost was greater than the Prime annual cost).

Just had to do my first return of something I bought from Prime and used their shipping label option (reduced price shipping back). The second the label was scanned by the UPS store I received an email stating the return was processed and complete. No waiting for them to receive the item, no fuss and no muss.

I had to complain today about them not delivering an item on time (it hadn't even shipped by the delivery date). I just went online and at the bottom of the orders page you can click help to get email, phone or chat. I did chat.

Haven't just gotten anything free to review, but I bought some pearl earrings for my daughter as a present... Seller gave me a second pair free in exchange for a good review.

Not sure. I've gotten a couple of things late, but really, for a company that gives me 2-day delivery on everything under the sun, great prices, easy returns, and damn near every HBO show ever on demand, I just thank my lucky stars they don't know how much money I'd really pay for Prime and move on.

I have prime and I'm pretty sure the pantry credit is for shipping only. Not for merchandise. Can still be a good deal if pantry stuff is on sale. Nice not to have to lug paper towels or toilet paper home from the market.

yeah, i guess that's what i meant. I buy all my "big stuff" at costco, but was wondering if prime pantry is "known" for any specific deals.

In general no. Not really much on there that is priced competitively.

You can save $10 on Gillette subscriptions when they enter promo code "GILLETTE10" at checkout.

This deal ends December 31, 2015.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks.

Damn, I need one too. Still $20 isn't bad for 64GB
the other one someone linked is still there, if you don't mind it being USB 2.0 instead of 3.0

I had a difficult time filling up a box but managed to get it done. Bought lots of things with one time coupons amazon had available

Is this true? I probably have like $30-$50 of those $5.99 credits saved up already and was hoping to get most of a box paid for.
