Andre Brown (1 Viewer)

Is there anything to see here? Brown has looked good in the past, this may be his break. I think this was an ideal place for him to land. With Addai and Brown knicked up I think he earn carries even with Hart in the mix.

How many teams has Andre Brown been with now in two seasons? I can't even keep track. That's not a good sign IMO.

Again I ask you, when was the last time ANYONE came back successfully from a devestating ruptured Achilles injury Brown suffered?

I remember you saying it before, not to side track this but isn't that what happened to Demeco Ryans today?Plus with the advancments in medicine each day you have to forget the past a little. Look at Tommy John for pitchers for instance.

achilles ruptures have ruined many careers in the sense that the players are rarely if ever the same. Tommy John is a terrible comparison because modern Tommy John replaces a battle worn ligament with a fresh ligament often leaving the arm in as strong if not stronger state.

Beat writers for the Giants said often during camp that he was the best pass catcher of the Giant RBs and looked like the injury had no effect on his speed or ability. Many giant fans were disappointed that he was cut.

In the 3 preseason games he played he had 21 att, 95yds, 1td, 1 rec/6yds, longest run was 21 yds.

Most people doubted that Andre, or anyone else, could return to football from an Achilles’ tendon injury, but here he is looking pretty much the same as last year. He runs, he cuts, he catches the ball, he drives into defenders. In Andre’s case, being back where he started is a good thing.

I'm surprised the Packers, Bucs or Redskins haven't brought him in for a look.

I'm sure someone else has already answered this but Takeo Spikes
Maybe I should have been more specific and said RB. Also, is Spkies the same player he was?
All accounts say Brown is as fast as he was. It seems like you don't want to believe that.

I understand Hass' question and he knows the answer is no RB but I am holding out some hope for him only because from what I have read it sounds like he was looking good in the preseason. There has to be someone to be the first right? Maybe some day he will get a chance to get carries and show us what he can do?

Giants cut him to sign a KR that happens to play RB as well and has been relatively unimpressive IMO. With 10k good receivers and a slew of young DBs why they needed to waste a roster spot on an unexciting KR is beyond me. It's not surprising Giants fans are annoyed. They spent a decent pick on the guy, put him through rehab and worked him back in and then didn't get to see the results.

Denver made a million RB moves this year and Brown got lost in the shuffle.

Injury comments in this thread make me wonder if you saw him this preseason at all or even on the Giants/youtube or anything since he got hurt. The guy runs well and moves laterally fine and still has burst and...there's not much left to worry about. He does run like a guy unsure of his wheels, but the talent is clearly still there. A team needs to give this guy a few reps and have a little patience. Once his confidence is back (and getting cut didn't help that) I'd bet he's a pretty decent NFL RB.

It's hard for a player to make an impact midseason never mind a young guy with very very little NFL experience. Hart, Addai and Donald Brown have a gigantic advantage over him. I don't see how Andre is anywhere near as good as Addai or Donald without that confidence.

Hart's a decent player. He plays special teams and has spent time on their PS. I wouldn't put Andre immediately ahead of him at all and with the ability to play ST Hart is more likely to be on the active roster on gameday if Caldwell's in a pinch. Andre can return kicks so maybe Kenny Moore is on his way out or needs some motivation.

Andre needs time.

IIRC the Colts have Edge's cousin around too.

Andre is a very good receiver and would have been one of those rookies that surprised you with how well he picks up the blitz. There's enough to work with if some team has patience

The only issue Andre has is confidence, nothing physical. There's a slew of articles from plenty of reporters and website writers (BBI link above too) that saw him this summer and were impressed. It's an overwhelming number of positive opinions.

How hurt is addai?
Great question. So far, we've got Polian saying it wasn't a separated shoulder and Will Carroll tweeting that "rumors are all over the place on Addai" and that none of them sound good. Substantiated rumors usually have trouble finding their way out of Indy, so I'm not freaking out, but when a team that already has 4 RB's signs a 5th, it suggests that one or both of Addai and Brown are expected to be out for a while.

Thanks for reading my whole post. My point is and was about how medical advancement changes things.Originally coming back from Tommy John and pitching was a 1% chance, now its closer to 85% to 90%.Also, it isn't HGH. The new ligament just returns your arm to the previous state it was before the ligament started getting worn down.

Great..... signing another RB is not looking good for Addai's injury prospects. Or could be both him and brown are banged up enough that they are worried, but Brown sounded like he was on the verge of getting healthy.

Moore was cut today by the Colts - not surprising after last week's performance on kick returns, so Brown will likely see time on special teams while he learns the playbood/players etc and then might have some value if the injuries linger

:P Andre wasn't brought in to be "the guy." My guess is he was brought in because the guys they have are hurt worse than we know. More than likely it is Addai because a hammy doesn't usually keep someone out longer than three or four weeks, does it?

Has he had his 40 re-timed since the injury? Serious question. He's come back so well that he keeps getting released. From Denver no less. Denver. Did anyone hear that? Denver! Sure, I can see the Giants rolling with Bradshaw, Jacobs and Ware. But Denver has a dinged up, underwhelming Moreno, perrenial disappointment Maroney and an aging and underwhelming Buckhalter. How was there not roster room for him in Denver?I like the kid. I had high (sleeper) hopes for him his rookie year. But I just don't see much upside. His injury still colors the perception of his talent/ability and his situation isn't that great either. While Addai, D.Brown and Hart have been dinged, none are expected to miss significant time (although Addai's situation could be in flux). If A.Brown even sees action, it'll be a few breather touches. I just don't see all three guys in front of him getting hurt bad enough for him to see fantasy significant touches. If Addai can go, he will, based on nothing more than his blocking ability.

According to the blurbs on Rotoworld, Brown was sick so Denver waived him to make room for another player and Denver intended to resign Brown after the game. Details of the illness that kept him out of week 6 weren't given. Might have been a smokescreen to try to keep other teams away from him when he was on waivers.

Broncos waived RB Andre Brown.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times, Denver is interested in bringing Brown back following Sunday's game. Brown will garner some interest on the open market, so it's no given that Denver will be able to sign him back.

Illness or not, you have to wonder what's going on with a RB if he's getting cut by DENVER this year.

Ok, well, how many top flight RB's have had this type of injury... None that I can think of..Also, Spikes was past his peak when he had the injury in my opinion.. But still starts and plays rather well.. Has had a rather long career for a guy who's sustained an injury that I think you're saying would be career ending/altering...

Denver had a pile of RB's... They needed to make a situational roster move, it's not like they put themselves in a situation to not have a RB by cutting him..You can only afford to roster so many players at a certain position before you start cutting into depth at other positions. Once they needed something somewhere else they had to make room. They were carrying more RB's on roster then you'd typically see, someone needed to be dropped to make room..

There was a thread about Brown before the season started and when challenged to come up with names of other RBs, two were brought up, Edgar Bennett of the Packers and Joe Montgomery of the Giants. Unfortunately those examples are not recent and the players were a lot older than Brown - however Bennett was able to return after his injury in 98 and had a decent but not great season with 820 total yards. Given that the sample size of decent RBs with this type of injury is so small, I don't think it is fair to conclude that an RB can't come back from this type of injury.

Colts ink Andre Brown

The Colts have signed running back Andre Brown to their 53-man roster, according to Fox Sports' Adam Caplan. He had been on the practice squad.

Our View: Bad news for Mike Hart owners, as this almost certainly means he will not be active this weekend. Look for Brown to get a few carries in relief of Donald Brown against the Eagles.

 for the kid. i've been hanging on in one dynasty league all season w/ some optimism for next year.

and, i'm sure it takes a lot of practice to understand the IND offense well enough to even get on the field w/ manning in a game.

:hifive:

Does he leapfrog Javarris James? He looked good at the end of last week...

With no trades and no one on the WW, they need to manufacture a RB. Brown's their only shot at that IMO.I think all these guys play ST reasonably well which should help get them on the gameday roster.

Good luck to Andre.

Wouldn't surprise me if they go back to Hart, but they have to try and get a better RB here. Brown's intriguing.

Schefter reporting the Panthers have picked him up

Adam_Schefter

While CB Al Harris went unclaimed on waivers, Carolina claimed RB Andre Brown and Seattle claimed QB Zac Robinson.
