Well, it's back to the daily update for him. Will he play this week, or is he going to wait until after the bye which basically gives him 3 more weeks to heal?

Thanks for the updates.

I'm guessing after the bye week as well.. He's been out since week 3.. might as well wait another week & give him 2 more weeks to get better.. However, if he somehow is 100% they might as wellplay him. But I doubt it..

What does Megan Manfull have to say?

She is the one who knows about this situation more than anyone who isn't on the Texans staff.

Texans | A. Johnson practices some Wednesday

Wed, 31 Oct 2007 12:11:52 -0700

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) participated in about 15 snaps during practice Wednesday, Oct. 31. He will be day-to-day during the week. There is a possibility he will be able to play Week 9.

:)

Sounds like it would be extremely unlikely if he was not ready for Week 11 as some here speculated. I don't know if the Texans staff will think it's wise if he should play this week or just play it ultra safe. The Texans need this game badly to stay in the playoff hunt so I think he may play on a limited basis. Just a hunch.

you couldn't start him this week even if he is in the lineup, so week 11 is still the target. good news indeed though, i hope he practices rest of the week. that would make me feel good about a week 11 return.

''Could`nt start him'' or should`nt start him :lmao: ..........i see no reason you could`nt start him if he plays.

Andre Johnson (knee) partook in some phases of practice Wednesday.

He ran some routes with teammates after being limited to the scout team last week. The best bet remains for Andre to return in Week 11, but he could be a game-time call at Oakland. Either way, a full dose of snaps seems unlikely.

Andre Johnson, WR HOU

News: Houston will likely be without WR Andre Johnson for the seventh straight game Week 9 against the Raiders, despite marked improvement in his injured left knee. He participated in team drills on Wednesday for the first time since he was injured Sept. 16, but said he's only about 85 percent healthy. "If I had to play this week I could," he said. "But you want to be safe about it. I've got a lot of opinions about it and everybody has told me just wait until after the bye week. So that's the plan." He did enjoy returning to practice with his team, though. "I was out there like a little kid," he said. "It was just fun to be back out there."

Check back week 11 to see if he plays. Walter is another great play this week

Good enough. Now get out there.

I say this is great. He won't play this week just because they know next week is a bye so they sit him this week to get almost an entire 2 more weeks to heal. Then when he does come back and play, AJ owners can start him with confidence knowing he probably could have gone this week if he had to.

And he won't be too rusty either since he is taking reps

85% is probably only 5% less than what "healthy" players feel like at week 9 of the regular season

any Texan homers have any idea where AJ will fall, come the official injury report? Some leagues allow IR based on official status, and having a feel where he will be by Sunday could play a role in personnel decisions.

no idea, see the handling of Johnson's injury thus far and the non-reporting of Ahman Green's out from last week as evidence.

If Shaub is out then I can't see the rush to start Andre if I'm the coaching staff. May as well give him a couple more weeks of rest.

I see your point, but I don't know if a coaching staff would ever say "Hey let's not start a WR because our starting QB is out." They would want the best players out there to try to win every game. That being said, I agree, I think he gets held out anyway to get the extra rest with the bye week coming up. That's a more likely scenario that we've seen regarding people being held out around a bye week.I won't be putting him in my lineup pretty much no matter what because even if he is a game time decision to be in the game, I'm not sure how much he plays.

Texans WR Johnson may return soon

November 1, 2007

HOUSTON (TICKER) -- Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is expected to be back in the lineup later this month, according to a report on the Houston Chronicle web site.

The Pro Bowler participated in full team drills Wednesday for the first time since he sprained his knee on September 16 at Carolina.

Johnson told the Chronicle that he is "85 percent" recovered and could play against the Raiders Sunday if he "had to."

"You've got to safe about it," Johnson said. "You don't want something freakish to happen. ... I'm a competitor. I want to play. But that's not my decision."

It's unlikely that Johnson will be back on the field before November 18, when the team plays New Orleans. The Texans have their bye the week of November 11th.

Johnson suffered the injury after landing awkwardly in the fourth quarter of a 34-21 win over Carolina.

In his only two games this season, Johnson has 14 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

Following practice Thursday, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said it "sure looks like" Andre Johnson will be able to play against the Raiders Sunday.

Johnson reportedly showed great progress Thursday. Kubiak was cautiously optimistic, "I would think right now it sure looks that way (that he'll play), but let’s see. Let’s see how he comes out of today in the morning. Let’s see how he does tomorrow." If Johnson plays, he'll be playing with Sage Rosenfels against a good secondary. We'd still use him.

I hope he is not just blowing smoke, I need me some AJ back in my lineup! :thanks: :lmao: :pickle:

Makes sense that he'd play:

1) He's practicing

2) He's 85% healthy, in his own words, which is good enough in the NFL

3) It's pretty much a must win for the Texans

4) He'll get 2 weeks of rest after the game

shouldn't. the "news" surrounding this injury has never been definitive as to how bad, how long, etc. I would think we should see how he looks in a game before plugging him in to our rosters except in the most dire situations. great news though, I hope he does hit the field sunday.

This is why he should play. The Texans can't wait any longer to start putting up more wins if they want to make a run at the playoffs. What else are they saving him for?

This doesn't sound like he's in any condition to play other than be a decoy. Their season may be toast if he doesn't play this week.. but why jeopardize his career by reinjuring something that obviously isn't fully taken care of?

Andre Johnson might play Week 9

Andre Johnson, WR HOU

News: Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) went through a second practice of limited reps Thursday as the team prepares for Week 9 at Oakland. On Wednesday, Johnson declared himself at about 85 percent and it appeared likely he would miss his seventh straight game. There is now a bit of optimism in the air on Thursday. "I think there’s definitely a chance that Andre could be out there, definitely," head coach Gary Kubiak told NFL.com. "No doubt, from what I saw (Thursday). But we’ll see. We’ll take it day to day."

Analysis: Johnson said he is preparing to play against the Raiders, but will let the coaches make the final decision. "I said (Wednesday) if this was a game that depended on our season and I had to go out and play, yeah, I feel healthy enough where I can go out and play," Johnson told NFL.com. "But I knew that the decision was not on me. It was about what I could go out and do in practice and what I show the coaches. I’m just going out there working every day." The Andre Johnson saga continues and Fantasy owners will have to stay tuned as news comes out of Houston. If active against the Raiders, he is a must-start Fantasy option despite facing one of the top pass defenses in the NFL.

He's out for Sunday

Andre Johnson (knee sprain) is out for Sunday's game against the Raiders. He is fully expected to return in Week 11 against the Saints."He’s practiced pretty darn good," coach Gary Kubiak said after practice Friday. "He’s not 100 percent, but he’s close and the best thing for Andre and for our football is to make that he gets another 16 or 17 days of rest." Andre' Davis will get another start, but is a poor play against Oakland. Source: houstontexans.com

if he's out, let's hope that he is officially ruled out on the injury report.
