Android App For Footballguys Mobile (1 Viewer)

Great news - we were able to get the new Footballguys Mobile App into the Android Market this year.

Just go to the Android Market and search for "FBG" and you'll see it. The app is actually called FBG Mobile.

This late in the year, much of the content is available just to the folks that have purchased the Footballguys Insider Subscription It's essentially just another way to consume FBG content on a mobile device - the guy that subscribers to the Insider package will be able to view the content on his pc as well as his phone now.

But just like with the regular site, there are lots of things still free.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

There's no good way to exit the app. It makes you keep hitting back until finally out. Should add a menu option to exit.

I am waiting patiently for the webOS app. :coffee:
:lmao: I know about the" no pissing in the shark pool " ® but this gave me a good chuckle
probably next year when it's open source...that's the rumor on webOS anywayETA that was worded poorly, WebOS probably won't "die" but become open source. If so, I imagine everyone including FBGs will want a part of it.

I noticed while installing that it didn't ask me for any permission other than network access. Why don't you wanna know my facebook account info and email passwords?

Clean, quick access to forums, this is a winner. Thanks Joe, great app.

Sweet! Nice Android app for easy access to FBG content. I checked the podcasts on my phone as well (HTC Evo) and they also didn't open to play. Other than that I like the layout and no other problems for me.

Why aren't you guys just pressing the home button to exit?
That will get you out of the app but it will not shut it down. It needs an exit option so its not constantly using up memory and draining resources

What is the difference between this and FBG Mobile that I was using already?
It's virtually the same as the www.footballguys.com/m site. Just a cleaner / easier way to download and have the icon for quickly getting to the info.Thanks.J

I didn't think there was any way you guys would get this out until after the season. Great job. Works great so far.

Common for Android apps, you should use the "Advanced Task Killer" app after you hit "home"
If you have Android 2.2 O/S (most phones should have been able to upgrade to this by now...do it, it has Voice Command support), then find the "Task Manager" app that comes with the O/S, put that on your home screen, and use it instead of those 3rd party "Advanced Task Killer" apps. It works great.

Kinda off topic but,

The Android OS manages tasks automatically eliminating the need for task killers. The article below explains why.

Task Killers

If you search, you'll find plenty of other articles explaining the same thing.

Bottom line, unless the FBG app is programmed poorly, there is no harm and no battery hit to letting the OS control memory management.

Hey Guys,

New version is available in the Android Market.

Has exit button when you press the menu button.

Podcast issue resolved.

Thanks for the feedback.

Could someone provide a link so I could install it right here?
lazy...I mean reallyhttps://market.android.com/details?id=com.footballguys.fbgmobile&feature=search_result

Careful out there in the Google market. I searched for FBG and almost downloaded an app from FFBG (fantasy football guys, I think), with a similar logo. I kept scrolling and eventually found FBG Mobile waaaaaaay down in the search list. So, someone is trying to pass off their app as the FBG Mobile app, it seems.

I have one problem with the app. If you are using it in portrait mode, and rotate the device to landscape mode, the app goes back to the home screen.

The Android OS doesn't work that way.

Having an issue with the app, since the update. When I log in with my username/password into the mobile app, I have to manually select to view in the mobile version at the bottom of the page, and it will remain set that way on my account. When I log back into the regular site on my computer, it will then be in the mobile version.

It doesn't seem to know how to read that I want to view the forums in the mobile version through my phone, and the regular version on my computer...and I can't figure out a way to set it up so that it will automatically choose the correct version.

Love that this exists, and I know that it will get better over time. But Sorry guys but this thing is a pretty colossal FAIL thus far. Hopefully these issues get fixed, but as of now this app is a glorified "the audible' downloader for me.

complaints & suggestions

1. Why no links to current data? I login and try and access information and it often sends me to weekly date from 2010 instead of 11.

2. Why no quick link to this weeks info/features? no link to say rushing/passing matchups , 2nd opinions, Offensive sleepers etc

3. why no section that seperates either by type (IDP, PPR, etc) or by author. A staff section would allow quick linking to the desired pieces, which is kinda the goal for the on the go app.

4. why is it then when i do click on cheatsheets etc it only links to the summertime cheeatsheets which all were published in august of july and not any f the multitude of weekly cheatsheets and top 200 (current as of 9/6) etc. for e.g if you click on the rankings/qb section it links to rankings that are 12-14 days old. Hell yahoo! rankings are more current!

5. One thing that would be cool instead of linking to the form directly, would to have a sort of 'forum buddy' where i could click on the forum/flag a thread for on the go reading, as sometimes wading through all the threads and all the muck on the go is a bit much.

6. why can't I 'hide features' that I don't use? For that matter after the draft why is ADP listed, but links to weekly/customized cheatsheets aren't? Additionally why is ADP listed? I can see it being there around draft time, but after week 1 why does it matter where everyone's adp was back in august/early september.

7. why no link to the WDIS contest. be a nice way to kill a few minutes in line somewhere.

8. would love to have some kind of 'mobile trade dominator'/pick value calculator, for those offers that come in while on the go.

This...I've stopped using the app because of this and started using the mobile page instead. It may seem minor, but its really frustrating to type out a reply and then lose it all if I happen to tilt my phone sideways...or lose my place in a long thread and have to dig back through to find it.The mobile page doesn't have this issue and is exactly the same, so I guess I'll just do that for now. I do like the format though, and I look forward to some new features...ETA....an option to refresh the forums would be a nice addition as well
