I am still waiting for the update as a Verizon customer...may not be a bad thing from what I hear being a big fan of Pandora.
Droid X 2.1Works fine for me.Anyone having issues with Beautiful Widgets? Won't show up all of a sudden.
Worked with my standard Droid for a long time. I updated to 2.2 and it worked for a bit, just now it has stopped working. I tried uninstalling, hard/soft reset, nothing worksDroid X 2.1Works fine for me.Anyone having issues with Beautiful Widgets? Won't show up all of a sudden.
Can;t find contact information on their website either.I'd guess that's the top choice.I got my droid X about a week ago. I like it so far. Is there a recommended radio station app? Pandora maybe?

There's a new beta Google Voice widget that seems to solve this for me. It puts a 3x1 widget on the homescreen to allow you to select GV to make a call. It also switches back & forth between options (GV for all calls, GV for no calls, Ask every time). Also adds a "do not disturb" button.I have a Google Voice account, but I don't use it that often. Everybody pretty much already had my cell number, so I felt no need to change.
However, when I meet someone new, I usually give them my Google Voice number until I know them a bit better. So I'll call and text that person through GV.
But that's kind of a pain to do with the all-or-nothing approach with the GV app... you either set your phone to call everyone through GV or no one. No in between, no "just this person through GV" option.
And, even more annoyingly, there appears to be no way to initiate a call in the Google Voice app on the phone. That can't be right, but seriously, that's what I'm finding. Open GV App, and I see my inbox, but no "contacts" or "make a call" option. There's a "send sms" but nothing for calling.
Am I missing something? Is there another app I can use that someone could recommend? Or do I really have to switch my phone's settings to "Use Google Voice for All Calls" every time I want to contact the one or two people I use GV for? (Or, alternatively, do I have to open the web browser, go to google.com/voice, and initiate every call that way?)
Doesn't seem right.

It will ask you if you want to pull down the update. I just got a 2.2 update yesterday, and I already had 2.2 so it must have fixed some things.I don't know why anyone would want to avoid 2.2, but it's the only version I've used.So when I get my Droid X tomorrow, I should just stick with 2.1 when the update is available? Or will it automatically move me to 2.2 when it comes out for the X?
I had to download the .apk file (must register on the forums) to my PC, then moved it to my phone via USB connection. Once on the phone, I used a file manager to browse to the location and open it (had to change security settings to allow non-market files to run).Confused by the link, how do I add the widget? There's a new beta Google Voice widget that seems to solve this for me. Pandora and Slacker seem to be the most popular. Pandora is my choice.I'd guess that's the top choice.I got my droid X about a week ago. I like it so far. Is there a recommended radio station app? Pandora maybe?![]()
I am with Verizon and still don't have the 2.2 update yet. I was checking out the Slacker app (radio app) today on Appbrain and there are numerous users stating that online radio stations like Pandora and Slacker are unusable with the new upgrade. I work out of my car 12 hours a day and stream Pandora the whole time thus will wait until they have the bugs worked out.So you've had none of the problems others have described? It will ask you if you want to pull down the update. If your a Pandora or Slacker user, let us know if you have issues. Who's your carrier and what phone?

Pandora sounds alright to me, but I don't really use it. Other than thatSo you've had none of the problems others have described? It will ask you if you want to pull down the update. no problems. Again, I've never used anything else.Just got 2.2 on the Incredible. Sounds the same to me. So far, I can't tell anything difference between 2.1 and 2.2.Pandora sounded fine last night at the gym. Maybe they fixed it...?

Depends on what release of 2.2 you got. They "broke" it somewhere around FGR01B. And in my case, it's not that Pandora is awful (as some have said), it just sounds "tinny"...missing bass. It's not as good as it was but is listenable.Pandora sounded fine last night at the gym. Maybe they fixed it...?

Working fine for me, but I have an accountAnyone else youtube app all messed up?It forces me to login, but I don't have an account, so I clikc the link to create one and it takes me to youtube mobile, then I try to sign in or create an account and it doesn't let me, keeps taking me back to the log in page.
You can watch and shoot 720p video, flash video in the browserJust downloaded 2.2 on my Incredible. Seems the same to me. How is it supposed to be different?
Google voice commands from what I hear is available with the 2.2 upgrade as well. Droid X comes with the standard voice commands but are limited vs with the 2.2 upgrade which allow you to navigate to a specific address with one command (for example). 2.1 took you a couple different steps to do this.Sheriff66 said:You can watch and shoot 720p video, flash video in the browserSweatpants said:Just downloaded 2.2 on my Incredible. Is the iphone app any good?Friend with an iphone got the ESPN FF app yesterday. I sent espn an email asking about the droid app and got the following response."ESPN will release a fantasy football application for Android this year. At this time, we do not have an exact release date. Please check back."Not the answer I was looking for but I'm hoping it will be befre the games actually starts since the app for the iPhone is out.

and sending text through bluetoothThe update was pushed to my phone this morning and while the sound for Pandora and Slacker are much improved, they still aren't at the same quality as they were for 2.1. But, I'm picky with my audio...Abraham said:Pandora sounded fine last night at the gym. Maybe they fixed it...?

and sending text through bluetooth
You can send text by just speaking, so I assume if you are hooked up to bluetooth you can do the same.not sure if droid has this..if so I haven't found it yet.
I use TuneWiki for music.First, this is a very helpful thread. Just got my Droid X yesterday and already have downloaded some cool/helpful apps. But it would be an even more helpful thread if those who recommend apps could give a brief description of what they do and why they are recommended. Finally, does anyone have a recommendation for a music player that is better than the stock player? I'm talking about for music stored locally.Thanks.
I like tunewiki. The player is a little better but I like the options of displaying lyrics and if you want you can turn on tracking and see who else is playing that song :(I just use it for the player mostlyFirst, this is a very helpful thread. nope. no can do. and searching the internet hasn't found anything either. others asking the same questions. can do speech to text by mic but not bluetooth. You can send text by just speaking, so I assume if you are hooked up to bluetooth you can do the same.not sure if droid has this..if so I haven't found it yet.
Wait I'm confused. On my droid. I can say "text 3c hey what's up".Are you saying you can't do that on your phone?nope. no can do. and searching the internet hasn't found anything either. others asking the same questions. can do speech to text by mic but not bluetooth. You can send text by just speaking, so I assume if you are hooked up to bluetooth you can do the same.not sure if droid has this..if so I haven't found it yet.
That is what I'm talking about. I can do this on my droid but don't remember donwloading anything special. When I received 2.2 it was updated? Maybe google search and voice search need to be updated on your phone? I'm pretty sure those apps updated automatically maybe that was itDid find this though. More voice actions with 2.2 but you have to download some apps (except Droid 2).

I use this feature all the time however have not tried bluetooth. Maybe a bad assumption on my part.I can do voice functions through the handset, but not bluetooth, as was mentioned in an earlier post.I downloaded the "voice actions" from the market just now. Adds functionality and looks different than the "phone actions" that came with 2.2 As the link says, you can start Pandora by saying "Listen to (song/artist)", you can transcribe a note to self, etc. Some things you could do before, some are new.Wait I'm confused. remove swype and the installer. go to swype, log in and reinstall.I just got an update for version 2.2 this morning on my Moto droid. Now Swype is no longer working. Seems like this happened when I first upgraded to 2.2.....I know I had to reinstall once before anyway. I've reinstalled Swype beta but it still doesn't work and I got a message that the Swype version wasn't configured for this device and would have limited functionality. Anyone else having Swype issues since the upgrade? Looks like Swype beta is closed. Is there anywhere else to get it now?
I have been able to do this with my Moto Droid on 2.0 and 2.1.
