I need to check the traffic conditions of my commute routes.

Is there something that will save my addresses and just update the traffic conditions between my 2 points? Providing alternate routes would be a bonus.

Google Now

The answer to this is Google Maps and enabling Google Now. Be sure to tell Google Now that you are interested in those locations, and it will give you daily updates on traffic/commute times.

I use the 8sms app that Soulfly recommended a while ago. When I open pics that come in texts from people the pic goes full screen at full brightness for a second and then dims. Any ideas on how to fix this? Can't remember if it did the same using Hangouts or stock sms.

Dont think i have issue.. Maybe i do. But you have always send in a ticket to the app developers. Theyre awesome w support.

I've only had mine for a few days, but don't appear to be. Most of them come with a "refresh" button so they appear to just sit there until you do something with them. I'm sure that's configurable, but I'm still in the noob stage.

Yeah, most widgets are configurable like that. Again, a widget could be static until you activate it (I use Google's "What's this song" widget which is a lot like Shazam or Soundhound. Instead of having to open the app, I can just swipe to the screen and hit the widget). Widgets can take some of your battery life away, but I have never used one that I would define as a battery killer.

Just an FYI, but you really don't need a widget for that. Just hit the microphone on the search bar widget or from Google now and it will listen to the song and identify it automatically.

Oh, if anyone is looking for a cool battery widget, in a big fan of battery widget reborn. I don't use the actual widget, but I use it to put the monitor in the top bar and it has pull down features.

sure but this way is just a push of a button and you can leave your volume alone. It's a quick swipe and a button press

I haven't had much success on tinder, only girl I've hooked up with is a chick I already knew. I'm in a pretty rural area so it is slim pickings on the app, the only attractive matches I get all seem to be bots. I did some swiping in AZ last month and my finger got tired there were so many hotties popping up. Unfortunately I was gone before any fun began. I'm headed to Charlotte/Raleigh end of next month so I figured I could use the FakeGPS app a week before and set some #### up. I'll report back. Any tips? Also, anyone tried any of the other f-apps out?

I'm heading to Japan for work and am looking for an app that will let me text for free on wifi back to the US without others having to install the same app. 'Text Free' seems to be the most installed but all of the recent reviews are pretty poor. Is there anything better out there I should check out?

same here. Set up new number with Google Voice and then did the same thing jhib here did. I will admit, retrieving voicemails is not as smooth/intuitive as vmail on the iPhone, but I do like getting the transcribed message in my email inbox, usually more for comedy sake on the translation.

I recently changed my google password, and had to remove and then re-add my google account from my phone to change the password on it.

Apparently, a good chunk of my contacts were actually saved to the device and not my google contacts, and those are now gone (at least they don't show up in my contacts anymore). However, when I go into the application manager there is an app called "Contacts Storage" that is 9mb in size, so I'm holding out hope that my contacts are actually still in there.

The question then becomes how the heck do I get them back so my phone actually recognizes them as contacts again?

I just discovered this disable thing last night. It's not obvious.

For a built-in app you may have tried to uninstall and all you can do is "uninstall updates". So you have to do that. But then drag it to the trash one more time. At that point you can disable it and for all intents it is gone. I did this with about a dozen apps and not only is my apps folder cleaned up but my phone seems to run faster again.

Yes, there's a few that don't disable but most of them do (at least on my Verizon phone)

If you're rooted, "Root App Delete" is a great app. You can disable and/or delete system apps, user apps, etc... Just be careful with it.

I've been through all the settings and can't figure out a way to make it stop. I basically have to either live with the annoying sounds, or turn the volume all the way down so that I can't hear any notifications at all.

By the way, the Yahoo news app is incredible. It populates like the top 8 news stories of the day, delivered to you by notification in the morning and evening. As you click into a story, it has a bunch of other links, articles of interest, social media, etc. that relates to the same subject. So you get breadth in seeing the top story from each category, and then depth on that issue.

The UI is super slick too.

I'm surprised they have an update for the Razr M. I have one in the house (I think it's a great device) but it has been replaced with an iPhone 5S, so it's not "active" as far as phone and texts. I'll play around with it to see how the update works with the Moto software to see what bugs there are if any.

maybe it does now. chrome was super slow for me compared to BOAT and Puffin (which is great if you need to run flash)

Chrome does this.I tried Dolphin, Firefox and the default Samsung browser and prefer Chrome to any of them.

I DL'd the t-mobile voicemail app. Seems to work ok except I think I need to sync/refresh it manually instead of it automatically logging messages in real time. Maybe I'm wrong though; I tried google voice and couldn't get it to work correctly so maybe I'm not app savvy enough for these gizmos.

Voicemail apps are usually carrier specific. They integrate into the carrier's backend voicemail system.

If you download a 3rd party app you have to forward your voicemails to them so you give up whatever privacy protection you have with your carrier.

aCalendar has widgets, not sure how good they are Cuz I don't use em, but the calendar layout itself is decent and it synced like a champ when I installed it.Free from the play store but also has a plus version for a few dollars.
