My two youngest childeren (13 & 9) are asking for this for Christmas. Seems like a pretty cool track and you use your smartphone or tablet to control the cars.

Any FBGs have any experience with this? If you have, is it fun and durable?

Doesn't look that much different from those tracks we all had when we were young.

There was a thread on it here somewhere, IIRC the consensus was it's a lot of fun but not sure about how well it will stand up to the test of time to keep their interest.

Kind of like the slot car tracks of old. I used spend hours setting up those tracks for the inevitable 30 seconds of getting them to work. Good times.

This is it. My son got it last year for Christmas and played everyday for about 2 weeks. Since then he has probably payed with it 3-4 times.

Neighbor son had the same experience.

Thanks for the input. Like said, it looks cool, but don't know how long they would be interested. We got them a nerf remote control robots last year for Christmas, they played with them for a day, then they collected dust until last week.

Wife wants to get them something other than video games for Christmas and they both have been talking about this a lot lately, so not sure what we will do yet.

Curious how these "weapons" play out on the track:

GROUNDSHOCK
GroundShock's Thunderbolt Core lets it electrify the track with split-second maneuvering and lightning-fast attacks. Don't be in the way when it unleashes its electric blasts. It shoots first and aims later.

Exclusive Weapon: ElectroPulse - Causes GroundShock's core to continuously discharge its energy, creating a circle of lightning that damages the nearest enemy.

SKULL
Skull's Pirate Core lets it sail across the track at high speed while a plasma cannon rips through enemy hulls. Watch out for this down and dirty warrior that plays by its own rules.

Exclusive Weapon: Plasma Cannon - Skull's weapon of choice, the plasma cannon fires a single, massive ball of energy. If it hits an opponent it will explode, causing damage to everyone in a large area.

 

[D-Day]

I have version 1 with the race mat. Pulled it out every couple of weeks for the first few months. I have not pulled it out in about six months. I even got the extra track and two more cars.

I would suggest buying the first version on the cheap (used). Rolling out a mat is easy, putting together a track is a longer process.
