Annonymous exposes Steubenville Rape Case (1 Viewer)

I just can't believe how stupid kids are now a days. You can't hide anything with facebook, youtube, twitter, etc. Openly bragging about it in video? That is just beyond moronic.
How about not believing how depraved these kids are
Well, yeah.. That too.
If there is any kind of positive to be taken from this it is that that the worst punks can also be the most stupid punks.
Not stupid, they just thought that they were in the protected class and could not be touched.

I know there were stupid kids doing stupid things when I was younger, but I don't know of any that did anything this stupid or were this out and open about the stupid things that they did. Is there something in the water today that makes people proud of being dumber?
Honestly, it seems like the more ways people have to record and/or broadcast their stupidity, the more they do it. Maybe that impression is just because you see it more, but still. I first remember this around 20 years ago when a group of high school guys drove around the LA area videotaping themselves shooting stuff at people on the sidewalk, including a homeless guy lying on the sidewalk and a bicyclist who ended up crashing. They were laughing, of course. Somehow they got found out and the cops found multiple videos of them. I remember thinking how ridiculous it all was - what are you gonna do, go back and watch this idiocy? I guess some people do though.

So where do things sit right now? Has the Anonymous stuff pushed things forward at all?
My take is that Anonymous has indeed helped push this. I saw it first last week on facebook, when Anonymous leaked the "confession" vidoe. Now a week later Stephonopolis is doing a story about it (after not much national coverage).

What is the confession video? Is it of the alleged rapists?

Noticed this a couple of days ago via facebook. This whole thing is insane, and the allegations of the rape (drugged a girl, carried her semi-conscious body from party to part to rape her) make me sick.
I watched the 12 minute "confession" on liveleak. Pretty sickening. Those guys knew exactly what they did to her. At one point some said "That was rape" and the drunk kid on camera said " "They raped her harder than that cop raped Marcellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction." :hot:
What a jackass. That wasn't a cop it was a security guard.I've always hated anonymous because of the shutting down PSN but I'm coming around on them. I'm glad they outed these mouthbreathers

That seems to be a misnomer to call it that, which I presume is why Sweet J used quotation marks.

When I was in junior high, 7 or 8 high school kids went to montrise and eat up a gay man. Then they bragged about it at a party. Then the man died. 4 of them are in prison for life and the others served at least five years. That as pretty dumb too.

This really is an interesting case in that social media and hackers are changing the landscape of our country. Guilty until proven innocent for these boys accused of raping this girl now vs the other way around. And the father of a daughter in me likes that these boys are being outed, but the American in me worries about their rights as well as the rights we all have to a fair trail. Then again, there may never have been a fair trial here in this city, all things considered. I also know a few victims of rape who were too scared to take their attacker to trial. Conflicted over this one and I'm just not strong enough to watch a video where a boy brags about a drugged girl getting raped and abused. I just don't have the stomach for it. The whole thing makes me sick.
I understand your misgivings and I can agreee. However the reason knightsec got involved was the coverup. Without them making it go viral they may have stuck with it was the girls fault for not knowing she was going to drugged, raped, and sodomized at various locations that night.
I admittedly haven't read too much about the case as it just makes me ill to think about. Where were her friends? Where were any GOOD guys to help her out? The fact that not one person thought to help her hurts my soul and leaves me to wonder how many times this has happened in this city with these boys? Ugh...
Apparently there are at least three other girls.LocalLeaks

A witness account perhaps? Maybe I'm misunderstanding but who is confessing and what is the confession?

Two incidents from my youth...In high school, one of the guys whipped out his #### and kind of love tapped a girl on her face several times while she was passed out. This was video taped but soon erased when we realized how dumb it was to record it.In college, there was a sloppy drunk chick passed out at a party. She thought she was the shizz, when in reality she was a mess. After she banged one of the dudes who lived at the apt., she passed out. And we simulated her giving a beej to a corn dog with mustard on it while she was passed out on the floor. I always kinda thought she kind of deserved that humiliation.ETA: We never raped anybody though.

Right. At this point it looks like a misnomer to call it that, which is why I put it in quotation marks. It's a far cry from laughing about someone's horrible misfortune and actually participating in an assault/rape. This video seems to be the former, really. For all we know, this jackhole saw the pictures posted on Instragram/Twitter and thought it was the most hilarious thing in the world.I'm not saying that this guy wasn't one of the rapists (it wouldn't shock me at all). But I'm not sure the video actually confesses anything. That being said, I could only make it through about two and a half minutes of the video, so maybe he elaborates later on.

I really, really don't want to get a chuckle out of your last sentence. I'm trying here.

Just read the article on LocalLeaks. Un####ingbelievable.

Why aren't the FEDs involved?

Very crazy. One problem I have is the link to the dude's email account that contains pornographic pictures. I'm going to guess they're kind of distributing child porn here, that's not a good idea.

Glad that kid in the video isn't named John Smith - a Google search of his name will likely keep him from getting a good job, dates, etc. for some time.
He won't be in jail, but his life is ####ed too. Looks to me he is the class clown and tried to be funny, and it will be the worst decision in his life.

I'm definitely a smart ### and love inappropriate humor, but there's no way I could stand over a girl being raped and start riffing jokes. He deserves all he gets.

Is this where our country is going? The justice system fails the victim and "Anonymous" swoops into the rescue?

:goodposting: On all. I actually doubled back and watched some of the video. 2 minutes was all I could take, though I did fast forward towards the end for a few seconds out of habit. :bag:

I can't believe no one else commented on this post, unless i missed it. You and your friends were eal class acts. I don't care how old you were, you actually sat by and watched someone "love tap" her on the face several times and videotaped it. And it seems the only regret you have was the video taping of it and not the actual act...UNBELIEVABLE!!! Disgusting human beings and i can't believe you would admit to being present while this happened and did nothing. People i associated with would have beat the daylights out of all of you. No better than the guy on the video that bragged about all of this. And your last quote all i can say is WOW. Well congratulations that makes you such a better person. You probably brought one of these scum bag kids into the world.

From the NYTimes article, I'm not entirely sure that the justice system "failed." The police charged the alleged assailants. It seems that the cops asked for witnesses several times. There is no indication that the police didn't intend to try to use the tape eventually at trial (there are admissibility issues that are likely involved which I haven't thought through fully), and in any case, releasing the evidence publically would just help the defense's assertion that the accused couldn't get a fair trial. It seems the most common complaint is that more accessories weren't charged, but I don't think it's unreasonable to focus on the case against the actual assailants. The prosecution, unfortunately, is almost certainly going to need the testimony of those who are possibly accessories.

The lack of school-imposed discipline is another matter, but I'm having a hard time coming up with concrete evidence that the police aren't taking this seriously.

So basically, you are admitting to witnessing a sexual assault and doing nothing about it except having the brains to stop recording it?

The part that got me was that 2 of the parties were are asst. coaches houses and then the DA's house? How the state police weren't involved from the get go is baffling to me. Also, it says the kidnapping charges all got dropped...feds take that up?

From the NYT article:

Shawn Crosier, the principal of Steubenville High, and Michael McVey, the superintendent of Steubenville schools, said they entrusted [football coach Reno] Saccoccia with determining whether any players should be disciplined for what they might have done or saw the night of Aug. 11. Neither Crosier nor McVey spoke to any students about the events of that summer night, they said, because they were satisfied that [Coach] Saccoccia would handle it.
Jebus ... this is basically instant replay.

Nothing like putting your best, and brightest and most objective and detached staff member on it. And, if it goes wrong, then you get to fire that darn football coach for not investigating it properly. Nice work, Steubenville.

So, in Ohio, the chain of command goes like this: local police->state police->FBI->high school football coach.

Yeah this is pretty ugly. I have to give some credit to Roseanne Barr. She has been all over this for a while trying to draw attention to it.
Didn't know that. I'll have to read what she has to say. Also, I give credit to Anonymous. At first, I was weary of their vigilante justice but their ability to get to this information not available to most anyone else should prove vital. The more they step into these situations, the more I find myself liking them.
I hope it causes other people to reconsider their judgments on Anonymous and Wikileaks. These groups are the ones exposing the cover ups and unethical behavior of people with power. Of course they are going to get smeared in much of the mainstream media, but we should all make our own informed judgements. This is a kind ofpower that the masses have rarely ever had against the elites of society. Instead of having to wait 50 years for historians to dig up the truth, we can know the truth now. That can be powerful.

Absolutely. Every town in Ohio is identical.

Not sure. I only know from Ohio State's twitter feed.
OhioState ‏@OhioState Michael Nodianos is no longer a student at The Ohio State University.

From what I read, they hacked someone's e-mail (forget who), locked them out of it, and collected pictures. Whoever's e-mail it was, they had pictures of girls that the football team had had sex with or were trying to have sex with. Basically, he was living vicariously through the players who would send him the pictures.
