Another manager giving advice to my opponent? (1 Viewer)

Last week I chastised a manager for not filling out his team, after the fact. He had a player on bye in his lineup. Had two bench players he could have inserted to fill the spot. Told him he deserved to lose (and he did). Now he is giving advice to my opponent this week.

My plan. Wait until after the games today, then give him a piece of my mind.

What do you think?

I think you are lucky that you are playing someone that would listen to advice from this clown. Doesn't sound like his knowledge is any threat.

So you feel you will make your point much better after the games are played?

Just seems a bit strange that you are posting this on a site whose purpose is to give advice to fantasy managers.

I ask other owners advice sometimes...and other owners ask me for advice. It's part of the fun of fantasy football...what good is it if you aren't going to talk about your teams and ask question to owners you are tighter with?

It's not like the advice changes what the players are going to do.

I think giving anyone a piece of your mind for giving or receiving advice is a bit of an overreaction.

Personally I would take bigger pride knowing I beat two owners in one week. I tend to only worry about my lineup, unless someone is not filling out a lineup or they are obviously tanking.

He told my opponent to make sure to take Floyd out today, because he is definitely out. The advice was not solicited.

According to opinion, I am over reacting. Guess I'll remain silent on this one.

Just thought it was odd that he won't fill his own lineup out, but will give unsolicited advice to my opponent.

Probably won't change what my opponent would do anyway. Just thought it was a bush league comment.

Thanks for the input.

So you gave Mr. Helper an unsolicited scolding, adding a "You deserved to lose!" twist of the knife last week and are now wondering why he's advising another owner you are playing against this week?Interesting......

If someone needs to be told that...they suck.

I guess our league is different than some you guys play in. Been together 11 years and is considered bad form to give advice to other managers. And many in the league have called teams out in the past for forgetting to fill out lineup. I am clearly in the minority here.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I don't get it. Sounds like you're over-reacting.

Wow, I was expecting he told someone with a better waiver priority to pick up Blount or something. Seriously, take Floyd out of your lineup? Owners in my leagues routinely share injury information.

Shouldn't this be the commissioner's job? I know in our league, he pretty much handles the owners that don't make lineup substitutions. Owners who can't put in the time to fill out a legal lineup have no place in our league. Never have had an issue with giving advice.

I would not even worry about an owner that plays a player on bye.

I think it's silly to worry about a guy giving your opponent "help" when he wasn't even smart enough to submit a proper line-up on his own.

I'd be pissed too

First, I'd stop sharing snacks with him

next, I would not play with him at recess

Cancel the next slumber party, and severe all ties......including Transformer night

I think I fail to see a problem.

So let me get this straight. You face one guy last week, who doesn't fill in a bye week swap. You win that game and proceed to gloat about how stupid that owner is, to his face. Then you're shocked when that guy tells your current opponent about a pretty obvious zero waiting in his starting lineup. No huge insight in his fantasy advice, just "hey just a heads up, don't play that guy because the D next to his name means he's almost certainly not playing".And now you're whining about it because you think it's bush league for your opponent to hate you after you treated him like a dog that just crapped on the floor? Hell, maybe the last guy just wants to make sure that the guy this week doesn't have to deal with your attitude at the end of the week.Anyway, don't you find it a bit more fulfilling to beat a guy who has a full lineup rather than winning because you face idiots at the right time? Here's my theory. Either you can be a #### to people or you can be thin-skinned when they're being ##### to you. You can't be both.

Thank you for posting this question.. the responses (Transformer night especially) have been hilariuos. My take (not piling on ripping on you--being serious). If the owner who forgot to update his lineup and get guys out of there is giving advice to your opponent to get Floyd out of his lineup becuase he for sure is out... doesn't that imply that your scolding last week sunk in and he's trying to be nice and help your current opponent avoid your wrath for having Floyd in there. I know in the league I'm in there's a group of guys who discuss lineups and this facilitates more trades among their group. They don't collude or exclude other owners.. but because they talk more they're more likely to talk about wanting to get rid of a guy and who they'd like to get for him--so there are more frequent trades among their group. Big deal. You should feel good that your message hit home with this guy and he's reformed his ways... now you can ask your mom to call his mom to set up another play date. :-P

One guy in the league who doesn't remember to fill out his lineup...and another guy who doesn't pay attention to a guy that's been injured for a couple of weeks now.

Sounds like it's time for a new league.

I never said I played against him last week (I didn't). Just got upset because he didn't care enough to fill his team.

Could change the outcome of teams making playoffs.

 Even if the guy is the most knowledgeable in the league, the only issue here is whether you use a tissue or sleeve to dry your tears.

 For awhile that was me, I'd be on chat during classes and spent too much time in a couple leagues, it was fun though and it led to lots of trades. the best way to get trades done is to talk to others especially if while they're filling out their lineup they're choosing between an injured player and a scrub when you have depth there.
