another mock while combine's going (1 Viewer)

Again, there is very little analysis here, but I just wanted to get a little feedback from anyone regarding some different picks. Saying "this is a stupid mock ur dumb" really isn't going to do any good, but if you disagree, I'd certainly like some reasoning.

I'm going to wait until after the combine (probably first or second week of march) to roll out a fancy mock, but this is just a quick shakedown IMO of what might happen. I understand there's a natural disadvantage due to the lack of commentary/defended reasoning, but just ask and I'll explain. Didn't feel the need to regurgitate explanations on picks that I didn't feel really needed to be explained and/or were picks from previous mock(s).

-----------

1. Houston Texans - Reggie Bush

I think I've been finally sold that they'll take him. Now watch them draft Brick LOL.

2. New Orleans Saints - Vince Young

Call me crazy, but I have this hunch that Young ends up with McNair..... in New Orleans.

3. Tennessee Titans - Matt Leinart

Way too obvious a pick to be so far under the radar.

4. New York Jets - Jay Cutler

A rock-solid insider has supposedly leaked out the Jets plans to draft Cutler. Guess I'll buy it for now.

5. Green Bay Packers - LenDale White

I originally had him here, then took him out for Hawk. Given the choice, I think they would rather have White. He's just a monster, and anyone doubting his "cutback" abilities in the running game up in GB has cataracts.

6. Oakland Raiders - Haloti Ngata

He's just too good to last to the Bills, quite frankly.

7. San Francisco 49ers - AJ Hawk

I know I know, the whole thing about the horrible secondary I brought up, but still, Hawk would be great here.

8. Buffalo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Mike Williams just released.... raises a flag to me.

9. Detroit Lions - Mario Williams

Williams + Shaun Rogers = the groundwork for the Tampa 2 installment.

10. Arizona Cardinals - Winston Justice

OL is good.

11. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Williams

12. Cleveland Browns - Manny Lawson

13. Baltimore Ravens - Michael Huff

Ed Reed and Michael Huff? Yowza.

14. Philadelphia Eagles - Chad Greenway

I think the Eagles will definitely be on the move on draft day. I think they will be targeting Winston Justice.

15. Atlanta Falcons - DeAngelo Williams

Again, I have this crazy theory that ATL is going to install a perimeter rushing attack with an interior passing attack. two big playmaking TEs and shifty outside running. Might just be crazy enough to work. I 100% expect them to land one of the blue-chip TEs to pair up with Crumpler.

16. Miami Dolphins - Tamba Hali

Definitely an eye-catcher. This pick will be whoever Saban believes is the best fit at OLB. I think Hali would be an insanely good 3-4 backer. Imagine this front seven in 2006: Holliday, Traylor, Carter.... Hali, Crowder, Thomas, Taylor. Eeeek!

17. Minnesota Vikings - Laurence Maroney

18. Dallas Cowboys - Bobby Carpenter

His Dad played for Parcells. It's not going to be WR or OT here, but 34 OLB.

19. San Diego Chargers - Jonathan Scott

Maybe a reach, could go Holmes here I suppose, but I have a lot of faith in their young guys, especially Kassim Osgood, who most people have never heard of... yet.

20. Kansas City Chiefs - Brodrick Bunkley

21. New England Patriots - D'Qwell Jackson

22. Denver Broncos - Claude Wroten

Their DL sucks.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Sinorice Moss

See Mock 2.

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Gabe Watson

25. New York Giants - Antonio Cromartie

26. Chicago Bears - Marcus McNeill

Protection for Grossman! PROTECT GROSSMAN!!!!!!

27. Carolina Panthers - Santonio Holmes

See Mock 2. Replace "Mercedes Lewis" with "Santonio Holmes". Perfect.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - DeMeco Ryans

Jacksonville really needs a good CB, and there are a good number to choose from here. Ryans to J-ville sounds like a very good fit though.

29. Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka

DL will still suck, just not as much.

30. Indianapolis Colts - Ernie Sims

Dungy loves them FSU backers.

31. Seattle Seahawks - Chad Jackson

The Jackson five... well, two anyway.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Ko Simpson

Ko... Polamalu...... sounds like a finishing move in a kung fu movie.

Someone mentioned a trade between Bills/Jets from 4 to 8. I could see this happening...

And Bills grab D'Brick and Jets take Cutler.....

maybe..... so hard to predict interdivision trades. I'd still really like a list of them in draft history... can't be too many.

I'd be ecstatic if Williams fell to Detroit, but I don't see it happening.
His attitude might cause him to slip a little bit... you never know.

Since you added D'Brick to the 1st round, I'll comment further.

The Jets would trade down for Cutler if they want him. Buffalo would be a good option. So, the players could stay the same, but D'Brick goes 4th (this is a lock to me), but he goes to Buffalo instead of NYJ. Interesting trade possibility. I think NYJ would love to trade down. The cap may force them too. They'll be interested in future picks, because signing a big batch of rooks this year will be hard. Anyway, D'Brick goes 4th (or sooner). He's awesome.

I like the Raiders taking Ngata. I've been projecting that since early January.

I like Young to the Saints at 1.02, while many think he may fall, he could take a step up, imo. I have him and Leinart switched, but I won't be surprised if this mock is correct and mine's wrong.

Lawson is one of my favorite players coming out, and he sure could make a Ware-like leap to that part of the draft, but I am convinced (especially after listening to Savage today) that DT will be Cleveland's first choice. They even discussed moving down to take the 2nd best DT, because they know they won't get Ngata. If they can't, I expect them to reach for Gabe Watson (who they will try to move down for).

Huff will not last 17 picks.

I like Wroten to the Broncos. I wonder if he can salvage his image and get into the first round. Gutsy call.

I know you're sold on Moss to TB, but I think you're wrong unless they take him in the 2nd. These WRs leave much to be desired.

I've been trying to get good info on Ko, and best I can tell, he's a pure strong safety. Not a nice combo with Polamalu because Troy would have to play free (which he could, but what a waste).

:2cents:

Yikes. Huff is picked by Baltimore and the Vikes.

Do you think Vernon Davis, TE Maryland might be taken by Chicago over Marcus McNeill? Just curious since I didn't see him in the first round.

Yeah, Huff falling that far is a little unsettling.Does look like the draft picture is starting to shape up a little more though.

This is one of the worst mock drafts I've ever seen. I can't believe you had the gall to bash mine when you can't even do a single round mock with no trades.

The Panthers aren't drafting a WR in the first. Fox wants to run first and play defense. He will draft accordingly.

Cutler & L.White will not go that high...teams thare are targeting them will trade down and take them later in the draft. Mario to Detroit that late would be a dream boat. Agree with other poster...V.Davis will go in the 1st.

I threw this together in about 15 minutes after downing some nyquil. I had a few ideas and wanted to get some feedback. I realize it's obviously going to have a flaw here or there. To say that it's comparable to yours has to really be a slap to your own ability.... I really don't care for the opinions of anyone who obviously didn't bother to read past the first sentence.

Also, why did it take you two weeks to come up with that? You had ample time to blast my last published mock, and I even posted a link in your draft and told you to have at it, yet you never once posted about it.

People like you should have a mute button, so the rest of us don't have to filter it out of the good information on this board. That, or just try harder to contribute something of value once in a while.

I'd like to believe that. First he needs to get a RB who can stay healthy though. What do you think they will really go for? A lot of people have them taking Maroney, who won't fit their scheme IMO.

Yikes. Huff is picked by Baltimore and the Vikes.
Huff's clever agent plans on cloning him.
Had Maroney in there when I put it up, but fixed a few things when I had left D'Brick out.. guess I forgot I had him to Balt. Put Maroney back in his place. All is well.

The Titans will draft a Tackle to replace Brad Hopkins in the 1st, not a qb
Well, youre the only one who seems to think this. Nothing I have read has said this.
I think they will as well, but only if Leinart is gone.I think their draft board goes:

1) Trade Up

2) Leinart

3) D'Brick

4) Trade Down

5) Bush

Depends on what happens with 'spoon.1) DT

2) Center

3) LB

4) RB

5) G/T

6) WR

7) S

8) QB

9) CB

10) DE

I think they'll resign him. Are they looking to replace Jenkins or compliment him?

Eslinger or Mangold? Would they pick one?

4. New York Jets - Jay Cutler

A rock-solid insider has supposedly leaked out the Jets plans to draft Cutler.  Guess I'll buy it for now.

I'm with the others that think if NYJ want cutler, they trade down, still think they try to make a move for Bush

5. Green Bay Packers - LenDale White

I originally had him here, then took him out for Hawk.  Given the choice, I think they would rather have White.

Given that choice, i agree, but I don't think they have a choice. Another that should trade down if, in fact, they want this guy.

6. Oakland Raiders - Haloti Ngata

He's just too good to last to the Bills, quite frankly.

Agree he's good, but it will be someone trading up that prevents him going to the Bills. If Davis sees Hawk here, he dances a jig in that funny tracksuit.

7. San Francisco 49ers - AJ Hawk

I know I know, the whole thing about the horrible secondary I brought up, but still, Hawk would be great here.

Hawk = Ngata as far as won't last this far. Only way he makes it past GB and OAK is due to teams trading up for the likes of Brick and Bush

8. Buffalo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Mike Williams just released.... raises a flag to me.

I suppose if we swap NYJ and BUF picks, this makes sense. I can see them (or almost anyone outside SEA, DEN, and KC) coveting Brick

9. Detroit Lions - Mario Williams

Honestly think he's most affected by trades, one way or another. Either he goes top 6 when someone trades to get him or trades to grab others push him as far as 14 (no way the Iggles pass if they see him)

12. Cleveland Browns - Manny Lawson

I see Hali>Lawson for CLE, see 'fins

14. Philadelphia Eagles - Chad Greenway

I think the Eagles will definitely be on the move on draft day.

Agreed, though I see them going down, not up. I only see a handful of guys they would need/want enough to pay 1st round money to, and all should be gone here

15. Atlanta Falcons - DeAngelo Williams

Again, I have this crazy theory that ATL is going to install a perimeter rushing attack with an interior passing attack.  two big playmaking TEs and shifty outside

It would be great, but their lack of creativity w/ Vick doesn't lead me to believe they can find their way "outside the box." I've said for a couple years now it would be hard to stop a 2 QB system, i.e. make Schaub the under center guy and line up Vick and Dunn in the backfield. You could essentially have an option play anytime Vick touches the ball, with Schaub actually able to see/throw to the WRs, use direct snaps to Vick at least 10-15 times a game, essentially putting him in the shotgun. I don't think we'll ever see it though

16. Miami Dolphins - Tamba Hali

Definitely an eye-catcher.  This pick will be whoever Saban believes is the best fit at OLB.  I think Hali would be an insanely good 3-4 backer.

I think Lawson is a better pick here if you want a 'tweener. Hali's 4.75 to Lawson's 4.59 seals it.

19. San Diego Chargers - Jonathan Scott

Maybe a reach,

I don't think its a reach. If Scott is there, you are 100% on. I think he goes to the Brownies, but thats me

21. New England Patriots - D'Qwell Jackson

I agree they go LB, but Ryans is a better fit in their plug 'n play system. I don't think Jackson can hack ILB in the NFL.

22. Denver Broncos - Claude Wroten

They do need DL help, but I think they need a 2 gap guy, which Wroten will probably never be. Dark-horse to move up for Ngata?

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Sinorice Moss

Its a stretch, but stranger things have happened. I'm hearing rumors regarding Rice though, maybe they want to look at Kiwi

25. New York Giants - Antonio Cromartie

would be a great pick for them if they've got the nards. They might be scared off due to already having dealt with CBs w/ knee problems

26. Chicago Bears - Marcus McNeill

Very logical pick. My only worry would be his big bulk getting blocked into Grossman's pinky toe, giving Rex ACL, MCL, and PCL tears, broken ribs, a concussion, tennis elbow, and a heart murmur. Seriously, though, IMHO the most solid lock for a team at their current drat spot, taking into account need and probability of the player being available. Great call.

27. Carolina Panthers - Santonio Holmes

See Mock 2.  Replace "Mercedes Lewis" with "Santonio Holmes".  Perfect.

Why not replace Lewis with Davis instead? Holmes would look great here, but Davis gives them the big posession guy they need, and would lock down the position. Big possession guys seem to be dime-a-dozen in the NFL now too.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - DeMeco Ryans

Ryans to J-ville sounds like a very good fit though.

Would be a good fit, but he won't last that long.

29. Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka

The DL does suck, but do you think they give up on all those Brownies they grabbed just a year ago? It'd look an awful lot like Shanny admitting a mistake, which would happen the day after he went back to coach the Raiders.

31. Seattle Seahawks - Chad Jackson

Another one thats dead on, assuming the guy lasts

32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Ko Simpson

Would be a good pairing w/ Pol, but I think they're satisfied with Hope and go with a more ? area (how would addai look in PIT?)
Overall, seems like too many reaches, but a LOT of good ideas in there.

I think D'Brickashaw Ferguson is probably a first rounder. ;)
my goodness!All better!
What in the world does D'Brick have in common with Williams? D'Brick is a Walter Jones-like LT and Williams is a lumbering beast.
8. Buffalo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Mike Williams just released.... raises a flag to me

Mangold if they do. Enslinger is just too small for the style of running Fox seems to like. He's almost everything you look for in a zone blocker and will have a hard time fitting into a standard scheme, apart from a swich to blocking TE
