Another school shooting (2 Viewers)

You just can't let anybody not involved with law enforcement/medical personnel into that school to see that. It's bad enough their kids are gone, there's no need to subject them to further shock and horrors of what that classroom and school may look like.

I'm also guessing that some of them were killed execution-style. Nobody needs to see the results of that. Even the law enforcement personnel who deal with this stuff professionally will be haunted by this forever.

I'm just waiting for my wife to come home so that we can have sex.
???
It's been a long stressful day. We have dicussed how sad today has been. We had to go to a Christmas party with mostly senior citizens, sing Christmas carols and try to be upbeat. When the party was over, she went to have some cocktails with a neighbor. As she was leaving, she asked me if I was up for doing dirty things to her when she got back. I am just biding my time until she returns.

I just don't know how those parents will be able to go on. One day, you send your child off to school as you have dozens of times before, and then they're taken from you like that? I just can't fathom.

And no, seeing the scene is not going to help.

The bodies of the young victims remained where they fell Friday night, as authorities worked to positively identify them.

I've been thinking it all night, hasn't seemed right that the parents haven't seen the remains of the obviously deceased...but I wonder how brutally murdered some of their bodies are. So small, probably shot at point blank range and sadly medics have to follow protocol. They all know who didn't come out of that building and everyone knows what rooms the carnage happened in, but each one must be independently identified. I get it, but...ugh, brutal.
As much as those parents probably want to hold their children's bodies again, they would probably be haunted the rest of their lives by witnessing that scene. There just isn't a good way to handle this.
I agree...I was going to post that the way the handled the parents was torture, but it could have been even more torturous to see that classroom. My heart goes out to every one of these parents and their families. I've been there. Had to wait 7 hours for my youngest son to have his third and last possible open heart surgery (they said it was 50/50) when was was 13 months old.

I also wonder about the individual stories. What if one of the kids was out sick yesterday but returned to school today. Or if another kid wanted to stay home and one of the parents made them go to school. How do you cope with that every day?Sorta like after 9/11. You heard stories about people who didn't feel like going to work that day, or had an out-of-office meeting, etc.

Same thing at Columbine.....In the book, the parents of several of the deceased described what it was like knowing their son/daughter was still lying where they died.........pretty much a living nightmare.

The worst part will be when they show all the kids faces together on the screen on some grid.

Just horrible

Columbine was horrible, then here in Omaha we had the mass shooting at the Westroads Mall and I knew some of the people that were shot - then we had a shooting at a high school less than 4 miles from me where the principal and a guiance counsellor were shot (one killed and one survived)...all of that was horrible. Today was somehow even more evil. These were 5-6 year old kids - their lives were no more valuable than any othe rnumber of people that are killed each day - but the innocence of the victims - their tender age - that is what is so unimagineable. My daughter just finished her last day of student teaching today and she now moves on to a teaching career after Christmas...she will be teaching K-2 grade kids. She was a wreck when I came home as she just couldn't come to grips with how ANYONE could even imagine hurting kids. I am a grown man with 5 kid sof my own and I am just beside myself with a need to do something for these kids and those families..not jsut the ones that were shot but those that were subjected to that horror.

Why do they have to keep them there?
My guess is protocol.
But is it really necessary for the investigation to go on this long? They've got a dead shooter. WTF.
No idea, but my guess is that it takes awhile to process a scene like that thoroughly and then on top of that maybe they prefer to remove them late at night so the media vultures might not get photos/footage to be plastered across tv and the internet. Hopefully, they put a tent up.

I tried to say it as discreetly as possible earlier. It's feared that most/all the deaths were head shots. That's not an easy ID process.

i would imagine the forensic investigation will be protracted due to the number of victims.

Yep.

I see it was wrongly reported, and the shooters mother was NOT a teacher at this school. Why was he even there then?

Well he did go to school there so that is at least his basic connection with it. Perhaps he was trying to save the kids from going through the same pain he had to endure or he was bullied there or something he associated with his childhood.

Yeah, perhaps I shouldn't have gone on baseless speculation but just trying to show that it didn't necessarily have to be associated with the mother and the school. That is the thing that I can't wrap my head around and at least a construct like that makes a bit more sense albeit very little. That is why this is more troubling than 9/11 in some instances. At least they had a reason and a cause. This just seems completely senseless and to go after kids. I'm still perturbed by this.

Yeah, not sure. If he wants the news and just the facts, I'd suggest CNN. Of course a message board is going to have speculation. You mock this speculation yet early in the thread and day, CNN was posting false facebook/twitters and posting she worked at the school. How is that speculation any better? Heck, putting Fox, MSNBC, and CNN behind that speculation gives it power.

I spent the day at the mall mostly Christmas shopping but occasionally checking up on this story. First I heard there were 2 or 3 people dead. The it was more then 10. Then it was 20. Then it was close to 30 with 20 kids dead. My rage and sadness grew every time I checked my phone. Now I come here and find dbags speculating the killer may have had his victim's well being in mind?! #### that

i think we're just trying to discuss possible motives in a rational way, no one is trying to downplay the incident or make excuses for the shooter. we're all shaken by this senseless tragedy.

I'm not a religious person but believe that more people could use some religion in their life.
I'm not a religious person but believe that more people could use some common decency to their fellow man in their life. Whether that comes from religion, smoking some weed, or whatever else. Plenty of religious folks use their belief as a tool to hide their hatred. Plenty of non-religious folks are just jerks. Don't think religion is the key to making people nicer.

While this is horrible, I can't imagine crying over it unless it directly affected me. I guess I'm just a cold, heartless *******.
I started to choke up when Obama almost lost it.
I've choked up and cried a bunch of times since I first found out - everyone mourns in their own way, there is no right or wrong.I just feel a profound sadness, I haven't moved beyond that yet to hate the ******* who did this. It's unimaginable and I completely agree with Uwe - I will probably cry like a baby when they start showing pictures of these kids.####.

This is an area that I'm questioning....

Here is my guess on one of his weapons - Sig Sauer

Why would a single mom have something like this around the house - it's not entirely out of the realm - but a bunco playing, schoolteacher, single mom just doesn't make sense as the owner of this "for protection" around the house in Newtown. Unless she bought for the kid? I think I had heard that the weapons were purchased by her - is that what you have heard?

ETA - here is what I read ...that's a lot of guns

At least three guns were found — a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both pistols, inside the school, and a .223-caliber rifle in the back of a car, authorities said. A law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity said some of the guns used in the attack may have belonged to Lanza's family. His mother had legally registered four weapons, his father two.

Authorities also recovered three other guns — a Henry repeating rifle, an Enfield rifle and a shotgun. It was not clear exactly where those weapons were found.

Seriously, Huckabee and Fischer are classless jackasses.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to voice it. But seriously, the majority is not on your side, the constitution is not on your side, logic is not on your side.

Keep religion out of schools... its in black and white - no undue influence on society as to one day have a national religion, not complex at all, at the state level religion has absolutely no place, none - least of all in regards to education.

It's bad enough that the original poster fails in his reading conprehension test, but then you "good posting" it. Is the world filled with people who cannot comprehend what they read?He NEVER said because God was removed from the school was the cause of the shooting.

But, of course, any time an opinion that God is removed from our schools is raised, the heathens have a conniption.

Yeah, totally hard to comprehend what he is inferring here:[QUOTE='Mike Classless Jackass Huckabee]We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we’ve systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage because we’ve made it a palce where we don’t want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability?

You are being disingenuous. No, to be technical he did not explicitly say that this was the cause of this particular shooting, but he suggests a clear connection between removing God and school violence and it is not a great leap to suggest that he feels the violence yesterday was a consequence of removing God from our schools:
HUCKABEE: Well, you know, its an interesting thing. We ask why there is violence in our schools, but weve systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage because weve made it a place where we dont want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability? That were not just going to have to be accountable to the police, if they catch us. But one day, we will stand before a Holy God in judgment. If we dont believe that, then we dont fear that.

I refuse to watch the coverage. Having 2 kids under 5, I can't even watch tv shows about kids getting hurt.
this is me.2 year old twins and a third on the way next monthA few years ago today wouldn't really have bothered me(not me, who cares?)......but now I just lose it every time I hear of a child being injured/killed(even if it's fictitious)
yeah. My TV is glued to Sponge Bob, and will be for the forseeable future. I havea 3 and 5 yr old...I do not want them exposed to this - not yet. Further, I'm convinced that seeing the interviews will turn me into an emotional wreck. It's one thing to read stuff here, it's another thing to hear the pain in someone's voice as they describe the events...no way will we be watching anything besides Nick Jr and NFL for the next week or so.
