Anthony Gonzalez expected to miss 2-6 weeks (1 Viewer)

Gonzalez out a month with knee injury

Anthony Gonzalez will not require surgery to repair a sprained ligament in his right knee and could return after the team's bye week in mid-October, according to a source close to the Indianapolis Colts veteran receiver.

Gonzalez sprained the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee late in the first quarter of Sunday's opener against Jacksonville. A person close to Gonzalez said the 2007 first-round draft pick hopes to be back after the Oct. 18 bye, which would mean he would miss four games.
LinkInsider info I just got that was not mentioned in the above article:

Gonzalez also has a torn meniscus (and has had it for awhile) but will not need surgery for it. He also got a 2nd opinion from James Andrews who confirmed everything stated.

ESPN just reported that the colts have now upped it to "2-8 weeks". that's not a good sign.
Well - keep in mind the original 2 to 6 weeks figure didn't officially come from the Colts. I don't think this makes a huge difference - don't expect Gonzalez back until for at least 5 weeks (one of them a bye week).

All in all I think everything turned out pretty good for Gonzo owners. It could have been much worse.

I don't feel that good about it. He laid a goose egg in Week 1, getting seriously injured without being touched. Now he has a long, vague timetable for return—just promising enough that I can't bring myself to drop him yet. And who knows what level he'll be playing at when he gets back. When a guy is on IR, you can at least go forward with some certainty.

I think it is about 9 or 10 weeks early for a statement like this.
All I know, as a Colts fan this is good news, not bad, because it could have been an ACL tear. As for Gonzo owners, at least they should have him with a couple weeks to spare to see how he looks going into league playoffs.

Luckily I have an IR spot to keep him on in my league. The "2 to 8 weeks" is so vague but hoping he's a fast healer and it's closer to the 2 weeks. Also hope sleeping in the O2 tent helps speed up the process.

I just traded Santana Moss and a 3rd for A.Gonzalez and a 4th in a dynasty league, where my team is completely rebuilding.
