Anthony Gonzalez (1 Viewer)

AGonz has been pretty hot lately. 3 out of his past 4 weeks have been very productive. Scary to start a rook in a championship game, but I saw a quote on CBS Sportsline that leads me to believe that AGonz might be in for another big week with plenty of targets:

"One person who doesn't want to be cautious is QB Peyton Manning, who told reporters after the Oakland victory that he needs more game action with new players such as rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez."

Since week 12 (4 weeks), AGonz is 2nd in the NFL in yards among WR with 347 (behind Brandon Marshall, 386), and 3rd in TDs with 3. He has only 27 targets over that time, but 17 have come in the past 2 weeks.

Anxious to hear others' opinions on him, and if others feel he is a must start type player at home vs Houston in the most important week of the season.

Figure if you are considering whether to start him or not that he is your 2nd or 3rd option at WR. Also figure that if he is this, who do you have as an alternative with not only the upside, but also the downside of Anthony?

I am probably sitting Lee Evans for him this week. My first guy is Randy, my second/third comes down to Shaun McDonald, Gonzalez, and Evans. Lee's downside is 2-16 or something similar. I can't see McDonald doing anything less than 5-60. I can't see Gonzalez throwing up an Evans-esque clunker either.

He's about as close to a lock for 60-80 yards as anybody else that would be considered a 2nd/3rd option. Touchdowns are tricky, but Peyton is about as good a bet to throw his young starting WR a touchdown as anybody.

HTH.

I am starting him over Boldin and Plax at the moment. Not fishing for a WDIS response though, I just wanted to hear other opinions on AGonz. I feel pretty good about him this week, but my instincts are usually flawed.

I am starting him along with Housh over Steve Smith, Chambers and Cotchery. Ben gave me a very nice game last night so I am willing to take more of a risk with a rookie.

I like him in this game.

For me it's either Anthony Gonzalez or Roddy White. Which when you think about is really choosing between Chris Redman and Peyton Manning. Doesn't seem like much of a choice to me.

I have T.O.,Wayne and Welker. I have Gonzalez starting right now as my last flex over Stecker, even though I have Wayne also I think he'll have a productive game, especially as a final starter.

As a Wayne owner playing the Gonzalez owner this weekend, I fear that Wayne will come out of the game much earlier than Gonzalez.

Same choice for me, and I'm going with Gonzalez, who right now is the hotter hand, on the more offensively productive team. Doesn't seem to be a downside risk of him resting, if that's what the Colts end up doing in the 2nd half with Manning, Addai, etc., given Gonzalez's position on the depth charts.White got me to the final game, but I'm hoping AG's upside will garner me the championship.

Starting him over SSmith, Cotchery, Gaffney. Also starting Peyton /ReWayne, so figuring one of those IND WRs gets some TDs.I agree that AGonzo's gametime with Peyton is important. I don't think Harrison will be ready for playoffs. I am worried that Wayne might sit after 1/2 time, maybe Addai too.

I am considering starting him over Portis in my flex.. seriously.

I cannot start him over Moss Andre and Colston. But I could start him over Portis.

Portis edges out Gonzalez by an average of 2pts/game over the last 3 weeks. So I probobly wont do this. However the Vikings run defense has me concerned enough that I was looking for options. Gonzalez would be my next guy off the bench.

got him penciled in over a gimpy Fitz who I do not believe even had a target in the 2nd half of last week's game.

Gonzo should play the entire game even when backups come in....I would assume

Do you think that Fitz is not going to play much? Atlanta is a great matchup for him!

look at what Fitz did last week....I don't trust him much esp. since he was limited in practice all week.

Im pretty tempted to start him also. I like that he is playing at home and indoors. With all the crazy weather right now, weather wont be a problem.

My other options are Engram in Seattle(rain) and Welker at home(rain, wind, snow,).

Plus, the kid has been on fire.

I think with all the iffy weather conditions around the league, he's definitely a must start (he might of been regardless of the weather, but that only reinforces it).

Started him over Steve Smith last week and this one. Worked out last week, but not looking so good this week with Smith's performance tonight....

I did the same in another league. Hindsight is always 20/20 but lets give Gonzalez a chance to show what hes got before we conclude it was the wrong decision. Gonzalez could still match or best what SS did.

I did the same thing. But SS has been a stinker as of late and who wouldve knew :fishing:

I'm starting him over Calvin Johnson, Cotchery, Berrian, B. Johnson, and J. Jones.

He's tooooo Hot!

I need him big today.

Just a heads up for Gonzalez owners wondering if he'll play the whole game today - Thorpe is out again which means the Colts will only dress 3 WRs as has been the case for the past few games. So even if Manning, Addai, Wayne and Clark get an early exit, Gonzalez will be out there for the entire game barring injury.

Very good news for Gonzalez owners. Let's hope he has a career day...

I have Marshall and Edwards as my one and two. Behind them I have Driver, Evans, Curtis, Santana Moss, and Gonzalez. I'm starting Gonzalez. We have a strong team and I think Gonzalez is more consistent. Driver never gets TDs anymore. Curtis is a nice match up, but he is feast or famine. I just think Gonzo is the smartest choice.

Have him going over S. Smith and Jennings. Goooooo Colts and AG! Also going with MJD over Edge so I may have mental problems.
