Anthony Gonzalez (1 Viewer)

Not sure what his official timetable is to return, but I have to think it will be soon. I know he has been injury prone and has never lived up to his hype, but he is sitting on just about everyone's waiver wire right about now. With Collie still not 100%, there may be an opportunity for him to have some fantasy value in a few weeks. Considering the offense and the system, I am starting to think he may be a player with taking a risk on. Anyone agree? Why or Why Not?

He's definitely worth a flyer if you have the roster space. Just about everyone has given up on him because of injuries so he should be available for nothing or next to nothing. With the Colts WRs a bit banged up there's reason to think he could step in and make an impact if healthy.

He practiced on a limited basis yesterday, and while there's been some talk of him coming back this week, I see week 8 return as more likely since the Colts have their bye in week 7.

He should be on your squad if you have Collie or Garcon. They're all injured to some degree, so having 2 of 3 *usually* guarantees that you can plug one of them in with confidence come Sunday morning. ...of course Garcon/Gonzo owners were stuck with no layer in action for 2 weeks already this season using this strategy.

I just can't trust him. He injured himself just trying to run (last year). There was no contact, he didn't get tripped up - he was simply trying to run and his knee gave out. Poof. He's out for the season.

u serious? lol That is how a lot, maybe the majority, of serious knee injuries occur

The guy is a first-round pick that was the "PPR slot god" before Collie. With Collie out, he has a chance to regain his crown. White is an undrafted FA that should feel fortunate to be a #4 WR on a team like the Colts.

If Gonzalez's wheel is somewhat close to 100%, you'll want to own him.

Is he definitely on track to return for Week 8? I've seen plenty of speculation, and it seems like a good guess. But I hadn't read anything from the team or beat writers. And I hate to give this guy too much credit. If he can't make it back for the Texans inept pass d, then he loses a good bit of value compared to other WW WR's.

Exactly, what's the word Colts homers? Where's djcolts anyway???

Looks like Blair White is a good play.

Anthony Gonzalez is out indefinitely again after recently aggravating his high ankle sprain.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says the new injury "does not appear to be major," but it could be enough to move Blair White a rung up the depth chart instead of Gonzalez. The two were expected to battle to be Indianapolis' No. 3 receiver with Austin Collie (hand surgery) out "a few weeks." Schefter's report says nothing definitive about Gonzalez's timetable, but his inability to stay healthy will make him difficult for the Colts to count on in such a vital role. Oct. 24 - 10:30 am et

This guy has been rotting on my Dynasty bench going on two years now. It's getting ridiculous, but the minute I drop him he'll go off. Grrrrrrrrr.

Just saw a report that says AG did NOT tweak his ankle, the report is false. He's still on track (whatever that means).
Yeah, this is from Rotoworld:Anthony Gonzalez-WR-Colts Oct. 25 - 1:56 pm et

Anthony Gonzalez said reports that he aggravated his ankle injury over the weekend were false and that he would be surprised if he didn't play in Week 8.

Interesting. The report was from ESPN's Adam Schefter, who usually is spot-on with his information. Don't consider Gonzalez a shoo-in to play just yet. Keep an eye out for updates later this week.

FF can be strange, but these reports are particularly strange.

There is nothing us AG owners can do except see if he practices this week.

It is a Monday night game which is tricky but it also is more time to properly assess the real situation.

The recent tweet in the Donald Brown thread lists Indy players that did not practice today and did not mention AG.

No news is good news?
I doubt the Colts practiced today - most NFL teams do NOT practice on Mondays, even those coming off a bye week

Heard from a reliable source that Anthony Gonzalez will start next Monday. Said he could have gone last week but was held out for the extra bye week off.

Also heard Dallas Clark broke his wrist in 6 places. Could be out for up to 12 months.

WOW - I bet that's about the most painful thing he's ever experienced. It seems to me that some doctor better do a dang good job to make sure all those things line up correctly. Those bones are small and very mobile (normally).

If Gonzalez plays and takes Collie's role like expected, Blair White's value is most likely the same as it has been all season.

That's right.I believe AG is healthy (he did practice ysterday) and will play on Monday night. That means the Blair Witch Project ironically is dead the day after Halloween.

I think that could almost be considered "shattered". If true, that is devastating.

Even if Gonzalez plays, is it a guarantee he will play more snaps than Blair White?

A 100% healthy White could be >>> a first game back in 7 week Anthony Gonzalez.

Could he not?

 especially against a very poor Houston pass defense and without Addai

Gonzalez's history against the Texans is very poor. Counting this year's aborted week one appearance and going back to his 2007 rookie season, he has never caught more than 2 passes (and no TDs) in a game versus Houston. And why would Peyton want to go underneath when his primary targets will be consistently open against this awful pass defense?I have Gonzalez, but may look elsewhere this week; matchup history, scheme and the strong likliehood that he will crumple into a ball, untouched, on the Colts' first offensive play from scrimmage are all working against me

Gonzalez is Ready To Play

Per Indy Star, Gonzalez is a go Monday night.
That was established a while ago. What we're discussing now is whether or not that means he is a better play than Blair White or not.
Didn't see anything other than a previous poster stating they "heard from a reliable source" that Gonzo would play Monday night. My apologies for actually including a link instead of wild speculation.

First of all, the "winking guy" meant I was kidding in good fun.Second of all, please see post #21 in this very thread.

Lastly, please offer your insight as to whether him being back right away assures he sees more snaps than a fully healthy Blair White. Or do you think White could end up being the #3 and Gonzo the #4 in his first game back rather than the other way around.

TIA.

Actually there`s still nothing in that story that says he`s playing...he says ''It's day-to-day, but there certainly wasn't any setback last week. I thought last week went well."Gonzalez sprained his ankle in the season-opening loss at Houston and insisted "it's still a recovering injury."

Now Wayne's hammy is hurting. Could open up even more opportunity for the new wave of Colts receivers, or with so many #1's out, could have a detrimental affect? I would think a less than 100% Wayne that plays more of a decoy role would be best case scenario for the rest of the receivers/tight ends. :hey:

CBS: "Colts WR Reggie Wayne (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday as Indianapolis began full preparations for its Week 8 game vs. Houston."
