you're nuts. it was a better 'catch' than dwight clark for the sheer awkwardness with which it happened. the only one i can think of off the top of my head that might be better was TO in the playoffs in his early days.

I agree w/ Moobin... it was an awesome play... but as a catch, it was more jaw dropping luck than skill.My favorite catch was when Joe Jurivicious tipped it to himself in the endzone... that one where the college kid catches it behind the defenders back and holds on is way up there too.

That wasn't even my favorite Freeman catch of all-time. He showed remarkable concentration, but mostly it was just dumb luck.His best catch ever was a diving catch in the endzone against the Bears. Think it was his 1st or 2nd year in the league. He was wearing a soft cast on his arm, and reached around the defender to catch the ball basically underneath the defender.

Not sure if anyone else remembers this catch anymore, but it was amazing.

Another fluke play. Garbage. Manning evading the sack was the play. Plax caught the game winner. I HATE the Steelers, so this is difficult for me to type, but the Holmes catch in the back of the endzone was a much better play. Superbowl winning catch with all of an inch between him and the out of bounds marker.

Not saying it was an easy catch, but there are probably 50-100 others that were more impressive.That said, I still hate the Cowboys and truly believe that Joe Montana could play QB today and do a better job than at least 1/2 the QBs starting today.

Why is it easily one of the greatest plays of all time? Looks like simple ace formation with the back split right; Favre takes a quick five step drop for an isolation play for Freeman on the right side.How is this a greater play than, say, Marino's fake spike, Duriel Harris and Tony Nathan executing the perfect hook and ladder in the 81 MIA/SD playoff game, the Music City Miracle beating Buffalo in 2000, or even 1982 Cal-Stanford running-over-the-band lateral-fest, to name jsut a few off the top of my head.

Unbelievable catch, fantastic concentration, but let's avoid hyperbole on the "greatest ever" as far as the catch, or especially the play.

To be fair, I couldn't tell if you were talking about the Freeman play or The Catch.Either way, The Catch is a better play or catch then the Freeman play or catch. Both for the high stakes and the actual catch.ETA - In my opinion.
