Antonio Gates - Any News? (1 Viewer)

It's a bit painful when they scratch a guy late that you THOUGHT was healthy enough to start.

So, since I don't want this to happen again, is there any news on Gates? I'm not seeing anything.

Get used to this, trust me. This is what you'll hear the rest of the week and probably the rest of the year. He has some pain, is questionable, may play or may not, game time decision, we'll test it before the game. I have him and absolutely am not playing him. I have had him before and its ALWAYS the same thing with him. I have ranted extensively on the boards about this ballerina. He is soft soft soft. i am doing everything to try and get someone to take him off my hands for anything serviceable.

is this copied and pasted from other threads? specifically every single one that has a mention of Gates? Just curious, if he is so horrible to own, why do you keep on drafting him?

I think they 'rested' him last game because they figured if they couldn't beat the Titans without him, they have no business playing this season. But after a 2-0 start, now facing the Falcons, his ### will be needed out there. It just sucks that it's another late game...

I've never owned him but I've been aware of the woes of his owners. They play so many late games, its hard to deal with, I'm sure.

But I think if it was so close to him playing last week, its almost a given he plays this week.

Why so much concern here? When the backup TE gets 3 TDs filling in for the starter, AND he will always be available on the ww for the Gates owner(which i am), there seems to be little need for concern. You don't even need to roster Gates's handcuff and can still sub him in last minute.

? don't need to roster him?I guess that means you have FCFS waivers all the way up to (late) game time? Most don'### would also mean that your leaguemates were pretty slow on the uptake if you grabbed him last week, dropped him this week and picked him up again last week.Bottom line for Gates owners should be rostering Donario for those last minute sit outs

I traded Gates for A.Bradshaw in dynasty, because I was tired of Gates always being injured.

Oh, right, in my league you can make moves whenever. Yes, you MUST roster Rosario if you are a Gates owner at this point, unless you can sub in free agents right up to game time, like you can in my league.

Having him miss last week just added to the dropped passes/touchdown the week before. I had really high hopes for him this year and even reached a bit to secure him. Now I think the best approach is wait-and-see. He'll be on my bench until he shows me a healthy, productive game that he lasts all the way through.

Antonio Gates, TE, SD

News: The Chargers' official website reports tight end Antonio Gates, who sat out Week 2 with a rib injury, returned to practice Wednesday. San Diego hosts Atlanta in Week 3.

Analysis: This is a very good sign Gates is already back at practice. Coach Norv Turner didn't sound overly optimistic about his status Monday, but he said Gates was just day to day. Continue to track his progress, but if Gates is back Week 3, then he is a viable Fantasy start.

RotoWorld:

Antonio Gates - TE - Chargers Antonio Gates (ribs) participated in Wednesday's practice.

It's a good sign after Gates managed to get in only one limited practice last week before being deactivated for Sunday's win. Gates was reportedly a game-time call against the Titans, and though he's become a bit of a tough injury case to crack, all the early signs suggest he'll play against the Falcons.

Does anybody remember... On the last official injury report prior to Sunday's game (when he was surprisingly declared inactive out of the blue), was Gates listed as Questionable, Probable or not even listed on the report?

Gates practices again Thursday

Antonio Gates, TE, SD

News: U-T San Diego reports Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (ribs) practiced for a second straight day Thursday, increasing his chances of playing Week 3 vs. Atlanta.

Analysis: Chargers coach Norv Turner said Wednesday Gates' participation in practice throughout the week will be determined by how his body reacts to getting back on the field, but he has been encouraged by his progress. It seems Gates is on track to return Week 3, but continue to track his progress. If active, Gates is obviously a viable Fantasy start in all formats.

Antonio Gates (ribs) practiced for the second straight day Thursday.

It's possible Gates was getting in another limited session, but it's still an excellent sign for his Sunday status. Gates will likely be listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, and after last Sunday's surprise deactivation, nothing should be assumed until inactives are announced. It looks like he's going to suit up against the Falcons, however.

Going with Bennett tonight over him.

Not worried that he won't play really...but any possible set back or big hit on him and I just can't take a zero from that position again.

Do you know if he was listed as questionable on last Friday's injury report?

Chargers | Antonio Gates practices in full

Thu, 20 Sep 2012 15:39:31 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio

Gates (ribs) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 20.

FANTASY TIP: This is a good sign for Gates, and unless he suffers a setback Friday, we expect him to be playing in Week 3 against the Falcons. Get him back in your starting lineups.

Because not every league is run like yours? Because many leagues have owners who can't pick up players "at the last minute" to sub in? Because in deeper leagues, Rosario is already rostered? Because it would be foolish to expect Rosario to score 3 TDs/game?Perhaps those are some of the reasons for concern?

This is me as well. Can NOT risk it. (And seeing how MBennett just scored a TD, I'm glad I did!)

Antonio Gates - TE - Chargers

Antonio Gates (ribs) practiced again on Friday, turning in his third straight workout of the week.

The San Diego beat writers fully expect Gates to start against the Falcons after getting last week off to rest. He'll be a top-six fantasy tight end play.

This site's daily e-mail says:

SD - TE Antonio Gates questionable

Source: ESPN.com

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (ribs) is listed as questionable for the team’s Week 3 game.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Unlike last week, Gates got in some practice time this week. He cited that as a main reason to sit in week 2, so we expect him to play and still have him ranked as a top 10 option this week.

By contrast, MFL reports:

(TheHuddle)San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (ribs) is listed as probable for the team's Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Analysis: Gates practiced fully Thursday and Friday and all indications are that he will return to action after being a late pre-game scratch in Week 2.
