Any Ford owners with Sync3 infotainment system.. problem after repair (1 Viewer)

This may be a fool's errand but I can't seem to find any specific info online. I have a 2016 Mustang with the Sync3 system.  A/C went wacky on me a couple of weeks ago (in July, in Florida - fun) so I had to take it in for repairs.  They told me the evaporator core had a leak and needed to be replaced.  Two days later, they gave it back to me, A/C works great.

New problem cropped up, though.  All of a sudden, ever since I got it back, the Sync system is acting up.  I can no longer answer my phone or get its audio through the stereo speakers via Bluetooth which is insanely annoying when I get a work call while driving 85 MPH and have to start fishing for my phone to answer it.  Unsafe.  Just as annoying is the fact that my MP3 player (Sony Walkman 128 GB if it matters) just stopped communicating with the car.  Worked like a charm from the minute I got the car and plugged it in, now every time I open the USB menu, it just says that the thing is "indexing" constantly.  It never stops and I can't play anything from it.  Further, as long as it's indexing, the voice commands in the car don't work - you hit the voice button and it's dead silence, not even that annoying disembodied voice asking you for a command.  Once I disconnect the MP3 player from the USB port, it resumes function.

I've tried everything I can think of from syncing the MP3 player on my computer, to turning the player and the car off and on, to doing a master reset of the Sync system (particularly annoying since I had to re-key all my navigation favorites, my Sirius presets, and re-pair my phone and it did nothing to help the problem.)  Nothing works.  Anyone had this issue and know how to fix it?  Thanks.

Try calling the Ford 1-800 number for that SYNC system. I believe the number should be in your owners manual. I had to call them once when I bought a car with that system to try and figure out how to make it work. If I remember they were pretty helpful.

Don't have the newest Sync but we've had weird issues like you're experiencing. Had to take it to the dealer and they did an update and factory reset.

SYNC 3 Help  - this links to OTA updates and the master reset.  I'll look and see if I see any techinical info on SYNC issues that are similar to what you are having.

SSM 45646 - 2015-2016 Various Ford Vehicles - SYNC Gen 1 With 4.2 Inch Display - Bluetooth Pairing And Connection Concerns - Built On Or Before 1/24/2016

Some 2015-2016 Edge/Focus/F150/Mustang, or 2016 Explorer/Escape vehicles equipped with a 4.2 inch display and SYNC Software version v5.5-v5.8 that were built on or before 1/24/2016 may experience concerns with unable to pair or connect a Bluetooth device to SYNC. In some cases a message stating -“Initializing BT. Please try again.” may also be displayed when attempting to pair or connect a device. If any of these concerns is present, update the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) to the latest level of SYNC software using Standard Programming found in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 415-00. If the vehicles SYNC software is atversion 5.9 or higher this message does not apply. For warranty claiming, use causal part 14D212 and applicable labor operation from Section 10 of the SLTS Manual.
Not sure if applicable based on your build date.

I'll try this, thanks bud.

I'll poke around here tomorrow. So far, I haven't been able to find much in the way of solutions on Ford's site or on other forums short of pulling the fuse and replacing it. Ultimately I'll try that too. I'll try a GD exorcism before bringing it back to the dealership again.

Sorry for your experience. Sync 3 has been way better than the Microsoft stuff we used to have. My expedition and my wife's Edge have been perfect with the blackberry software.

Just came to say sync 2 sucks in my 2013 f-150.

Ive heard good things about sync 3 I hope that's the case.

Mine was too until they had to remove the dash and instrument panel to get to the evaporator. Before this, it was flawless.
