he's done very little with the carries he's had so far this year. i want to be bullish on him but i just dont think i can warrant starting him today. any other thoughts?

As an eagle homer I don't think he'll do much today. McCoy played the 2nd half with his injury and he should be ok to go tonight. Bell will only sniff the field if Mccoy is out and i'm not sure he's effective when he is in. He hasn't looked anywhere near as effective as last year and he gets injured when looking at the field.

It's clear as mud what will really happen Sunday night. Andy Reid is not at all truthful about things ("McNabb will be our starter in 2010" then "Kolb will start all year" then, well, you know...), so what the team says they will do and what they will actually do are often two different things. This just up from Rotoworld:

LeSean McCoy-RB- Eagles Oct. 10 - 10:32 am et Despite coach Andy Reid's claims that LeSean McCoy (rib, questionable) will be a "full go" for Sunday Night Football against the 49ers, the Philadelphia Daily News foresees an expanded role for Mike Bell. The Daily News is just guessing, but it's realistic to think that the Eagles could use Bell as the primary inside runner with McCoy being limited to in-space situations instead of risking him aggravating his injury in a pileup or with multiple defenders tackling McCoy. The 49ers are playing tough run defense, so consider McCoy more of a low-end RB2 or flex than an RB1.
Good luck with your decision. If I'm a Mike Bell owner I'm looking for another alternative. Even if McCoy is limited, Bell is unlikely to get a lot of carries or be productive with those he gets. This is a pass happy team and Bell has looked very bad in limited action so far (just 20 yards on 12 carries). If you're starting him you're probably in some trouble.
