any news out of New Orleans about the RB situation (1 Viewer)

i'm not seeing anything on the football guys emails regarding New Orleans RB news. any nola homers know if Ingram is going to play this weekend and if so, at what capacity? he's had 3 of the past 4 weeks off. is he healthy enough to play and play well this weekend?

Ingram played last week, and hasn't had any setbacks. So barring some unforeseen injury, he'll play. To what extent is anyone's guess. The saints running back situation is a maddening one for all of us.

I have not heard any news on Ingram's use this week. He played last week without any setbacks I'm guessing he is good to go.

I was all in on Ingram this year and have held onto him in a 10 teamer, but with Ivory coming back, I'd say Ingram (and Ivory) is waiver wire material. Ingram cannot be counted on and who knows what Peyton will do with Pierre, Sproles, Ingram and Ivory in a pass first offense. Not enough touches to go around. My hope was NO would develop a power run game with Ingram to improve their playoff chances, but that does not seem to be the case. I think it's time for me to cut bait. Good luck to the rest of the Ingram owners.

The news is that Ingram and Ivory will compete for their share of the power back carries.
Sounds like motivation for Ingram. Just can't believe they won't give him every chance to earn the lion's share of the carries. And I still think they want a power running game to emerge as we come down the home stretch of the season.Let's not forget that they traded up into the first round for this guy.

Ingram and Ivory are both very talented backs but based off of what I saw last year from Ivory I wouldnt say it would be a slam dunk for Ingram to win this battle. My opinion is that they will all get a piece of the action and make all of PT, Ingram and Ivory pretty useless for fantasy purposes. I am a Saints fan and the only back I would want on my FF team is Sproles.

You're still holding on to Ingram? Damn.
1.1 from my dynasty draft. Traded a ton to get 1.1. Not exactly paying off this year. I've got hope long term... :banned:
Yes, it worked out waiting on McFadden for me, hoping that a year or 2 on my fantasy bench will round Ingram into shape as well. Now for those who play the pointless exercise of re-drafting...he is a drop all day long.

Saints' beat writers have been speculating that Ivory will sit on game days, as was the case in the last game when Ingram returned.

They did just put David Thomas on IR. I wonder who takes his spot in the 53? could be another TE . Heck Ivory is big enough to play tight end and has decent hands. I wouldnt put anything past Sean Payton really. Jed Collins is another they could plug into a hybrid role. Really though the smart thing to do for the Saints is to save Ivory for the long haul. Chances are the Saints will be going north to some bad weather in the playoffs and they will need the ground and pound game healthy for that.

I suspect, if nothing else strictly from a financial point of view, the organization will be looking for development of their number 1 pick and progress as the year goes on. However, I doubt, overall, they are on the same timetable as most fantasy football leagues.

I think Ingram will be handed the keys in his third year. This year its about getting his feet wet and development. In dynasty, he is a buy low right now IMO.

3rd year??? They're not developing a WR or QB here. A rookie RB should be able to "show it" from day 1. Maybe we'll give him a little more time given the complicated Saints passing offense but toting the rock is toting the rock.I'm hoping like hell that he just starts to "get it" during this late season stretch here. He's gonna have to really look spectacular to keep carries away from Pierre.

Reggie Bush is just starting to get it. Some Backs just take longer. I dont think it will be 3 years for Ingram but I dont hold out much hope for him taking the reins this year.

Neither do I. The Saints have a good system in place with Sproles, Ingram and Thomas. When all three are healthy it's been a generally productive backfield. Given that, I wouldn't expect things to change all that much the rest of the way. I think we'll see a return to the same roles those three had before Ingram got hurt. The only way I see Ingram's role growing at this point is if Sproles and/or Thomas gets hurt or one or both of them starts getting bottled up in the run game and Payton turns to Ingram to try and get more offensive balance.
