Any Predictability in TE Coverage Responsibilities? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious about whether a "TE Matchup Strategy" might have some viability for IDP. In other words, look for very high reception TE's and who might be covering them week to week.

For example, tonight in the Saints-Chargers game it appears Roman Harper has been assigned to cover Antonio Gates and already has two tackles on the first drive and just broke up a pass (nullified by penalty) to Gates on the second.

If there is some predictability in who will be guarding guys like Gates, Clark, Winslow, Celek, etc., it could lead to some opptys for cheap WW pickups and/or better start/sit decisions.

Am I nuts?

There is some predictability, but not enough to expect huge numbers of man-to-man matchups due to the variability in coverage calls. I'll generally bump a nickel linebacker that can cover and the safeties in any week where they face a TE and/or slot WR that are likely to see an above-average number of targets, but only in a general sense.
