Any Split AC Guys Here? (1 Viewer)

Over here in Italy, really no such thing as our traditional AC/forced air central AC. It’s all splits. I just redid my home with new Toshiba splits but can’t seem to figure out this question; if i set the temperature at say 73, will the split kick off when it hits 73 and then kick back on, like traditional? The manuals have automatic settings, but I am not sure if automatic means what I want it to mean. Just curious if anyone has splits and might know the answer.

Mother in Law was quoted $15,000 for these AC splits for her 850 sq ft cottage in Florida...
-She bought a $250 swamp cooler, works great so far

Not what you asked but I had been wanting to post this and your thread popped up

Swamp coolers have their place but in high humidity areas, they don't perform as well as other options like traditional AC. With a swamp cooler, your just adding more moisture to the air so kind of exacerbating the situation unless that's your goal because you are growing plants. A place like FL will struggle with a swamp cooler unless it's got a big *** fan pushing the air (not the brand, literally a big, loud fan).

So, it looks like the Automatic setting is for the system to automatically go from cool to heat depending on what your set temp is. Is your unit also a heat pump?

If the fan is still running even after hitting your set temp you probably have it set to the fan always running instead of AUTO. The AUTO setting for the fan should mean that the fan only comes on when the stat calls for cooling or heat.

appreciate the help on that combo. i’m gonna go cool setting, auto on the fan and see if it switches on and off. right now i am auto cool to heat (i have the heat feature) and auto fan.

was she getting 1 unit for every 100 sq ft? lol
She's 70+ yrs old, I think someone was trying to take advantage of her
At the rate of the swamp cooler she bought, she could just buy another one every couple years vs the price they quoted.
