Anybody been to see Wimbledon tennis? (1 Viewer)

You can just queue, but you'll need to be there EARLY and it will take a while
My daughters there doing an art program at St Martins.. so shed only be able to head over in the afternoon. My wife looked into aftermarket center court Tix for the next couple days... Over 2k per. .

Been there multiple times, but it was long ago.
It would be great for any tennis player / enthusiast to take in. No need to overpay for Center Court if the other courts are doing singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Watching any / all of those are worth it. Plenty of players to see.

And don't be too manly to suggest they eat the strawberries and cream. Good stuff.
Take pics in front of the large tennis bracket to mark the year and who's playing.

Best of all for the young tennis player - a story to tell for a lifetime - and pics to prove it.

That is a very cool experience, especially for a young girl who plays tennis and her Mom. Hell it's up there with the Kentucky Derby and Indy 500 as far as I'm concerned.

Don't think it's happening.

Over 10k lined up this morning at 7:30 for day 1. It's first come first served with any body else having to wait for people to leave to get entry. My daughter is an art program that runs until 3 daily... So there's no way to make it happen. If I were there and my daughter had a free day, I'd roll with the huge line and go for it. But neither of those are options.

Well always be able to go to the US open in our backyard, but would've been amazing to take advantage of being in London when Wimbledon was happening.

Lots of watch parties around there even if can’t go to the grounds. Here’s one at Covent Garden:

She's getting a lesson at a tennis center near the art college, and will do a class with their academy. Not the same, but I'll let them know about the watch party

We went a few years ago. Awesome experience.

If willing, the way to do it is camping next to the venue. You go there a day early and get a ticket to reserve your place in the queue (there are a limited number of first-come, first-served slots allotted). Camping queue guide

Set up your tent, and hang out with a bunch of rabid tennis fans for a day. IIRC, you have to actually be in the camping area most of the time to qualify for the tickets, which you purchase the following day, at face value.

We saw Berdych defeat Federer in the QF, and Sharapova beat some middling player, IIRC. Our seats were quite good, better than any we’ve had at this US Open, for a fraction of the price.

Day 1 is always by far the busiest. I'd be tempted by later in the week, it's not unheard of to be able to roll in mid-afternoon and get in for the back end of the outside courts

There's a heat wave on there, so being in one of the uncovered courts might not be your cuppa anyway.

A heat wave, or, as we used to call it here, summer
