Anyone benchin Reggie Wayne? If so, for what? (1 Viewer)

T-Will looks to be back to form this season. Green Bay has enough talent in the secondary to put the clamps on Reggie and force the likes of Avery and Hilton to beat them. With that in mind I am benching him for Stevan Ridley and Eric Decker. I'm wondering what other people are benching him for.

Any time you can bench one player to start two, it's a shark move.

No, I have to bench one of the three. This isn't meant to be a start/sit question, I just want to see if anyone thinks similar to me.Who knows where the Colts minds are at with the Pagano thing. And Tramon shadowing him should worry Wayne owners.

Is this a serious thread? Has anyone ever benched a WR because they were scared of Tramon Williams?
I don't think the OP understood my meaning when I sarcastically said bench one player to start two was a shark move. Benching Wayne for fear of Tramon Williams is NOT a shark move. Wayne has been a top ten WR in just about any scroing format, and I never would bench a top ten stud regardless of matchup, especially not in this case... Tramon Williams?

This thread must be about some other guy named Williams on the Green Bay Blizzard indoor football team. Right? Someone can't possibly be benching anyone based on who will 'shadow' them on the Packers.

I'm talking about Tramon Williams, the guy that locked up Brandon Marshall
He did one hell of a job. I expect the same game plan, where Williams shadows Wayne with constant safety help over the top to be used this week. You can't bench him, but I'd treat him more like a WR2. I very much like Avery this week because of this fact.

Wayne will get same coverage as he got all year

Yeah, I loved watching that too. Let's not go crazy, though. You don't go benching Wayne because he's playing the Packers. Maybe he will get shut down but in no way is the Packers defense someone you should be benching players like Wayne against. Is it in any way remotely possible, "Badgers Fan", that a little homerism is clouding your vision? Also it's a bit easier to lock up Marshall when your teammates get about a dozen sacks and Cutler is melting down.

Thanks. I didn't know every team has the exact same caliber CBs and Safeties and make the same exact adjusts for every team's WR1. I didn't say he was near bench-able but expectations should be tempered slightly if GB decides to deploy the same game plan they did for Marshall.

Marshall is a good WR, but he's no Reggie Wayne either. If they double Wayne, Avery might be a good start, but T. Y. Hill might be the big benefactor, splitting the seams for long completions. Either way, Wayne is still one of Luck's primary red zone guys. It's not like Indy has a Forte or a Bush to score from inside the ten.

Wayne is not benchable.

Actually, I live in New Jersey and I'm a Giants fan, fwiw.edit: And yes, I do wonder how much of Marshall's game was due to how Cutler seems to turn to mush when he plays at Lambeau on tv.

Most people that drafted Wayne hoped he would be s decent WR2 - maybe even a WR3 with the potential to be a WR2 every now and then. If he "only" puts up WR2 numbers this week, I think his owners will be fine with that. Let's not forget that in that Bears game, Marshall dropped a TD pass and Cutler was running for his life. Tramon Williams didn't suddenly turn into Revis (before he got hurt). He's a good DB - but he aint worth sitting a guy that most drafted as a WR3 whose been putting up WR1 numbers.

Never sit your studs. Wayne has played like one - so he's in my lineup. Against everybody - even THE GREAT T. WILL!!!

Yeah, they did a real good job of bottling up the Saints WR1: Marques Colston!

I'm the only person in this thread to have made a bad call this season. #sarcasm. But yes, this was quite the awful call. I did honestly end up playing Wayne, but it was dumb of me to even question Reggie's greatness.

No doubt.

OP is the worst kind of chump.

Starts a crap thread that everyone thinks is wrong - but who knows, probably swayed some guppies.

Then laughs about not following his own advice. And did he post that at 12:30 before the games started? No, halftime.

Should probably go create another account as the BF one has zero cred going forward. Zero.

I can't imagine ever benching a guy who can get 20 targets in a game, no matter who he's playing. What a fail of a thread.

Hope somebody took the OPs shoestrings and belt. That must have been grueling to watch unfold. I know he said he started him but I'm gonna need a link to buy that one.

I can't believe this thread actually evolved into a rational discussion of benching Wayne. It wasn't a rational question, hence my first response... I though that was better than calling the OP an idiot. Maybe it wasn't. My bad.
